To those asking me if I’m worried about getting banned for sharing the 6 socket tech with Black Morrigan….allow me to answer before they do. It’s a fair question, but it’s not the right question. And I made the decision to post it publicly in an attempt to highlight this purposefully and with forethought. GGG NEEDS to establish CLEAR and UNIVERSAL guidelines on situations like this. They continue to happen due to oversights or a lack of testing internally and GGG continues to send mixed messages that create a lose / lose for everyone involved. Chests with 20,000+ fire res are still in the game. Boots/weapons with “free” abyss sockets that do not use a suffix but maintain the abyss socket are still in the game. Both of these are examples of similar situations where a small group of people “exploit” a design flaw but because of their relatively small adoption , GGG simply patches the bug, leaves the pre existing items in game , and punishes no one. On the other hand, people like Empy have been banned or suspended for similar “discoveries” not because they were any worse or more harmful but because they disseminated them to a large audience . I believe this is absolutely backwards. With respect to itemization, mirror crafting, and true Min maxing -- “bugs” that are allowed to exist in a legacy state are centralized amongst certain power brokers who now have an asymmetrical advantage over EVERYONE because Mirrors of Kalandra exist and therefore their “exploit” profits them indefinitely and without recourse . This makes NOT acting in a situation like this as a “defensive” measure to ensure your aren’t boxed out of that possibility an absolutely necessity for anyone who wants to remain competitive in a market like mirror crafting. However, this is still a lose/lose. If the item is rolled back (as it should be) - then you lose all the money you spent making them, and you risk potentially facing account issues due to GGGs mixed messaging and inconsistent stance historically in such matters. And if you do NOT do it, you risk being left behind on a now unbeatable and irreplaceable item base that you are forced into feeling regret over knowing that you did not act because it was unintended and you were acting in good faith. The ONLY remedy I saw to this inconsistency was to make the items a couple times to show how it is done, and to show as many people as possible. Furthermore, I am not profiting off this by selling any of what I have made to value extract this temporary bug and dump the forthcoming liability onto some other hapless sack. If there are hundreds of the items in circulation amongst hundreds of individual actors, there cannot be a monopolistic centralization of these items and so to keep them in the game is at least equitable … and if they do roll them back they cannot simply patsy their lack of guidance / testing onto a single / small group of “bad actors” I love GGG and I love PoE. I would be devastated if my account were actioned against, however, stuff like this ruins the game when it’s swept under the rug. GGG needs to act. And GGG needs to develop a sweeping policy reform whereby any future situations like this, the res Chest, or the abyss boots come about again will result in clear cut repercussions or acceptance so that players aren’t forced into lose lose positions due to poor development and management. actualy it works on everything, any one handed weapon, any shield , any ofhand , and it makes it 6 socket. imagine having a 6 link claw ( shaper + what ever influenc ) and it being 6 socket with a 6 socket squaire
Last situation like this i remember was very minor in heist league, were they spend a solid 2 weeks rolling back every belt with an abyss socket + jewel sockey (a bug in heist trinket + abyss chests). To be honest i really hope they roll all these items back too, am suprised they never fixed the fire res chests, maybe its just too hard for them to detect all those in rotation i dont know

the devs are definitely going to flatten all multi-link quivers to their intended state. wait at least a couple days before wasting crafting materials on them.

How do people find out this stuff? Is there a secret group of people that whisper each other these tricks so they can use them before everyone else finds out? Always seems to be the same people find out this stuff first.
Funny thing is that this bug comes literally from a wrong variable in the item's code when the socket mod disappears (probably sockets===undefined if the item is not supposed to have sockets, and sockets===null/0 when the item gets the mod removed). Suck tiny differences can break a game lol

I believe it has to have 6 tiles of space on the item for it to give 6 sockets, so a ring wont work

All the 6 link 6 socket quivers shields one hand swords will return to their original 1 or 3 socket state. You can be sure of that.
