Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I've been intending to sign with ASCAP as a writer and publisher for years, and had planned to finally take care of it in 2023. It was now on my agenda for early 2024. This is one of the few times that procrastination has paid off.
Yes, I’m a beginner in selling beats but not a beginner in making them. I have an individual here locally that would line to by my beat. I’ve registered on ASCAP but don’t know how to move forward. If he gives me cash or Zelle’s me the money is there some type of contract I need for him to sign?
Is it true that BMI now charges 75 dollars for songwriter registration? Secondly you mean that if i am the publisher of my self and i sign as BMI songwriter o won't be paid the publisher royalty?
BMI is free to join as a songwriter. It costs 150 to join as a publisher. You will be paid the publisher royalty with BMI. However it can get tricky if you don’t join as a publisher.
Do not join as a publisher if you are not a publishing. If your work is self published and you're already signed up as the writer... ensure you put 100% writer and 100% pub when registering the works... and you will get paid. It is not tricky. You do not have to register as a publishing in order to collect publishing.
Thanks bro. I am an independent afrobeat artist from Nigeria. Can i join Ascap. How will they pay me when at payment time. And please which of the distributor will you recommend for me?
@@realjnolan No bro, We don't use PROs, Pub Admins or Distributors from Nigeria because they are not active and secondly we can't trust them. No reasonable artist from this country is using them. Do your research and you will see that.
@@realjnolan have you tried it and can confirm that there is no payment to be made at all of you are just following what they have said that it’s free?… I was asked to pay $5 or above for the ASCAP charity or something like that and there is no work around it, the minimum is $5, if I’m right.

Hey creator why my Application is still pending since 04/30/2023 until now
I have no idea. Have you reached out to ASCAP with an inquiry about this?
So correct me if im wrong, Will i be needing a LLC or Sole proprietorship in order to register with ASCAP as both writer and publisher?
Good afternoon, I signed up for the writer and publisher account. I have an individual that would like to purchase the best. What do I do next?
Are you saying they want to purchase a beat from you?

You can join Ascap, but I’d probably recommend that you look up the PRO native to your country which is MCSN

Do you get paid more if you pay the 50 and sign up as a publisher rather than a writer /publisher for free?
No it’s the same
Well you’ll have to pay a minimum of $5 to join
That’s just not true. It’s free to join as both songwriter & publisher if you do it at the same time. If you join as a publisher only it is $50.

Hello
i recently registered as a writer only on ASCAP and then realized i need to register as a publisher too
Please how do i register as a publisher on ASCAP for free
You have to do it at the same time for it to be free. They charge $50 for the publisher account by itself.
