Yeah... That's not a drift. A powerslide at best, and usually it's just a well-controlled spin-out. This is not drifting, it's not intentional. I love how the first clip is the very impressive save from Earnhardt, getting pushed into the grass, and saving it. Thing is, his tyres barely slid, nothing even close to a drift. Incredible driving? Yeah. Drift? Simply no.

There’s a reason it’s so impressive when they hold on if they get loose. They’re extremely difficult to control and not set up in any way for drifting, if you’re just saying that having a drift car with a nascar shell then yeah it’d be pretty badass

1:50 - That has to be one of the fastest saved re-entries I've seen in NASCAR. My only question is would that driver be hit with a penalty? Or does the fact he was nudged off track and him not losing or gaining a place mean the driver incurs no penalty and holds his place?
No penalty. NASCAR doesn’t hand out penalties for aggressive driving unless it’s really obvious or dangerous (intentionally turning someone headfirst into the wall).
Nascar isn't f1 lol, they don't penalize unless it's actually well deserved dickery or borderline attempted homicide
No, because it wasn't intentional. Bobby Hamilton Jr was slow coming off 4, so Raines checked up, and Skinner hit him in the rear bumper, before ducking inside. Raines slid into Skinner trying to regain control, forcing him into the grass. Just a racing incident, they happen all the time, but this time, there wasn't anything more than a few worn tires
If you're referring to the driver who went into the grass, then likely no. Nascar usually doesn't hand out penalties if the driver is trying to avoid a crash or was pushed over the line. As for the one who pushed him, likely not. Unless it's intention and completely dangerous or reckless then it's usually not a penalty
There’s no benefit of going into the grass, so you wouldn’t get penalized for going into it, especially if you’re forced there
when you get into a drift, you never want it to end
And thats how people spin out or crash

Sometimes you want it to end - you just don't want it to end too suddenly.
Until your tire wear reduces you from 40 laps to 5 laps until pit
Drifting slows you down and makes crashing more likely making it useless in nascar

I mean they have air breaks to stop flipping. They are probably also useful for drifting.
They only open when the car is completely backwards. The driver cannot open them, the air opens them.
