My first gold was the Platinum 3776. I will refrain from saying anything because it will not be nice. Secondly, I purchased a Sailor Profit Light. Love that nib, but it really does have to be posted, which I hate doing, but am growing into it. Then, my third gold was the 74. It writes so smoothly, and the pen itself has a bit of weight to it, so I've really enjoyed it. After that, I got a 743, and that has been wonderful all around. I think you could make a point that a 74 nib isn't ridiculously different from a Prera, but the weight and length really put the 74 miles ahead for me. One thing I have really disliked with the Pilots IS that dry upstroke. I've been messing around with adding some dish soap to my inks, and that has helped a lot though. I love that yellow btw. I have not seen that available anywhere.
The oval drawing / painting that is shown with the Pilot Custom 67 reminds me of Jean Cocteaus art. Good stuff. Love exploring this channel more and more :)
I love the Pilot custom 74! I have several of these in all different nib sizes and love them all. I don’t find any of them scratchy by any means. I’d like to know what gold nib you recommend that is better as a first gold nib? I have the Pilot elite 95S and I still prefer the Custom 74.
I think my bias is towards a used 2000, which can be had for ~$100, is piston fill, and has a nice bouncy gold nib. That’s just my preference though- I do love the colors of the custom 74!
@@oliveboypens that’s a pretty decent bias and I hear deals can be had. I do love my Lamy 2000! That’s a pretty sweet nib. I would say the Custom 823 is a close second, but certainly not as affordable;)
Another interesting comparison, and I'm glad the only real difference between the two is a bit more bling on the modern one. Consistency is important, as we've seen some comparisons where the older version was superior to the modern one. That's the good side, but consistently average is, well, consistently boring. I confess I've never been attracted to Pilot fountain pens. They have stiff competition from Sailor 1911 and the Platinum President line. Sailor has nicer gold nibs, and the Platinum President line does too. I agree there are better options out there for someone's first gold nib. I'm sure more the more expensive Pilot pen lines are nice, but the higher the price, the more competition there is. I just don't see why I could or should prefer Pilot to their competition at any price point. That being said, I find Pilot's mechanical pencils attractive and well-functioning, particularly the different color wood-barrel models. They're usually sold in the $20 to$25 range, and I would replace them immediately if I lost one. On another note, I like the turquoise nails and the cute little wristlet. You have an audience, so I'm glad you're taking your naturalness up a notch in your reviews.
I bought a Pilot Custom 67 on a Japaneses thrift store but I dont know if it is real tho bc the tube where the ink goes is different from what you shown. Also the one that I bought is color brown and has a romanized Japaneses name. Idk if I make sense but yah whatever just sharing. Have a good day :)

nice one ! "To the heat death of the universe." I like that :)
Thanks for this info and opinions. It helped me decide to buy a 67 in order to get a coarse nib at a good price.
Glad I could help!
Thanks for a very interesting comparison. I like the yellow colour, so would buy that pen just for the colour. Great nails, BTW!
Excellent review
what a cool comparison, thanks for sharing
Where did you get that yellow 74 ?? 🥺😍 it’s gorgeous!!

Hi! Do scratches appear over time when using the posted pen cap?
Yes, I’d say so.
@@oliveboypens Obrigado!!
Interesting! Thanks for this video
