Being from the UK and watching you guys pulling the crackers was hilarious! You pull at one end whilst some one else pulls the other 🤣 we usually place them at the dinner table and pull them after our starter. It's traditional to wear the tissue paper hats that come inside the crackers during our Christmas dinner and we go around the table and tell the cheesy jokes that are also inside. The crackers do tend to be at least double the size of the ones you have. And mince pies are a staple for the whole of December 😋

I love marsipan so much, I can't even tell you. It's like an instant dopamine boost for me, for real. Ooh, and bitter almond flavor. Every Christmas, my mom makes two types of Finnish date cakes and one of them has bitter almond oil in it and it's *so good.*

Christmas cake is soaked in alcohol and topped with marzipan and fondant or Royal icing. We need to get you some proper Christmas cake. In Yorkshire you'd have a slice of cheddar cheese on top of your fruitcake.
Mince pies are usually served cold at events. Not a Scottish thing but you had a Scottish brand. You need brandy butter on them.
Chocolate orange (not Terry's its mine) oranges or satsumas were super expensive to import so kids 60 years ago were very lucky if they received a satsuma or orange in their stocking.

Mince Pies and Christmas Cake (Fruit Cake) are staples throughout the UK. Most people think the name comes from the minced up filling, but they did used to contained beef mince (I think US call it ground beef?) Apparently, it didn't make them savoury, it just added depth to the flavour. We tend to put cream or brandy butter on our mince pies. Although, if you fancy DIY-ing your brandy butter, mince pies are just as delicious with Spiced Rum Butter and Grand Marnier Butter!

Hi girls, loving another episode of Ladies and Lattes.
With the Christmas crackers, you pull on each end, usually with a friend. If you pull correctly, the band inside snaps and creates the "crack" sound. They usually contain a small toy (or sometimes a useful pencil sharpener) along with a corny festive joke.
I'm Australian, but there are many Christmas traditions we kept from the UK. Also, Terry's Chocolate Oranges are English based, not French. They're like that so that they can be broken into segments, like that of an orange.

I believe marsipan is almond paste. It's like smushed almonds, sugar grains, almond aroma and some ither stuff. Very christmasy in some countries. Including mine, Swdden. Over here we have very classical 18-1900's marsipan-pigs for christmas usually. And there are so popular that some rack up their prices on the marsipan-pigs. Some are really expensive. And some are even given as gifts just because they are expensive.

The pear and chocolate cake , as you said in the video I think , is a traditional dessert in Italy but it is not a traditional Christmas dessert. I think the Gummi/y treat you might be thinking of is European style Turkish delight, in the traditional Turkish form of the confection the gelatin part is made with a starch 'base'.
The whole orange at Christmas thing (at least in the UK) stems from the general scarcity of home grown fruit during December in years pre, during and just post the second World War, most children used to get an orange as part of the 'gifts' in their stocking. Whilst the one you had was made in France, the chocolate orange (particularly the Terry's iteration) is British. Also Holly (or whichever one of you sits on the left) is partially right, you don't smack a chocolate orange against a surface... (altogether brits, with feeling) you whack it

In case no one has said the orange at Christmas time is a Victorian tradition when fruit wasn't readily available in the colder months especially Oranges and citrus fruit. On Christmas morning families who had the money for it would put usually an orange in their children's stocking. Also did anyone notice that Holly drank more water than coffee in this video? 🤔

Jess if the mince pies are your favourite over in the U.K. a lot of people say Costco do the best ones, maybe see if you can get them there, I’m not a fan of mince pies myself but still try one every year just in case lol xxx

The tin of butter cookies aren't really holiday related in Denmark. We can by them all year round. But we do have a wide variety of specifik Christmas and holiday cookies you should try. ;) (and the Terry's oranges, are actually very British, not French ;) )

The mince pies need to be warm and you pop the lids off and spoon a big dollop of Cornish Clotted Cream into it and pop the lid back on. 🤤

In Denmark, we have different christmas cookies. Klejner, pebernødder (Pebber Nuts), brunkager (translated to brownies but they are crunchy), jødekager (Jewish Cakes. It's cookies with sugar and cinnamon on top) and a lot more. The oldest one is Klejner and it doesn't have an english name :) Merry Christmas :)

Klejner er "shortbread cakes" / "lardie cakes" (omend forskellige)! 😮

Jødekager er resultatet af krigen i 1864, intet mel og intet sukker så ingen "munkeringe" i følgende år, resultatet af mangel og rationering! 😮
