this perfecly fits as a Stage Select 2 for World 2, since you don't make a boss fight already just like World 1, you must pass to their stage first to then fight them.
X is different robot. Quint is/was MegaMan from the future (alternate future?). Time travel messes things up, but doesn't change that X is a different robot entirely though obviously based on MegaMan...by the time X arrives on the scene, MegaMan has been "dead" for a while.
