This is the bottle I am truly excited to hunt for, love some Old Forester. Also, the coincidence of me sipping on JTS Brown during the history lesson put a smile on my face. Yes it's 11:30am, don't judge.
I have a OF barrel pick from a Michigan store, it’s fantastic. I prefer it over the 1910 and 1920 which I both love. But taking Rex’s advice I must compare it to ALL the OF’s 😆🥃🥃🥃🥃🥃🥃🥃🥃
Picked one last month. Had been looking for one for a year. Great stuff, definitely a competitor with Staggs jr, ECBP, Larceny BP, Blue Note BP. The nose is great and the kick is amazing. Mine is 131.2 ABV.
My wife and I went on a Tennessee whiskey distillery tour last year. Tiny glasses, lots of nosing and tasting, but by the third distillery, (out of TEN) we were feeling no pain. By seven, my wife was taking a nap on the bus. Can't imagine doing it as a vocation. Fun, though. You guys have it made in the shade. In this video, you guys kinda remind me of that third or fourth distillery. Nice to see you guys tipsy.
Thanks for reviewing a bottle I bought a year ago...the unfortunate part is I only have one, so I am hesitant to open it! Brown Jug did a great job with their 2021 single barrel select lineup!
New to the channel. I like all the OF, but 1910 is my current favorite. (Scored some Buffalo Trace and Weller Special Reserve yesterday and today at several Binny’s in Northern Illinois)
I agree that Daniel should go full beard handlebar. It will be his next Whiskey Somm evolution! Hell my handlebar mustache happened only AFTER I started getting into whiskey. o_O
Store Pick Old Forester Single Barrels are a hidden gem. Especially if you like higher proof bourbon. Flavor BOMBS with a LONG finish. Probably not for the newbie or lower proof drinkers. Honestly one of the best bourbons I have ever tasted (so far). I don't know why people are "hunting" and WAY overpaying for exlusive bottles when they can pick up something like this. MUCH better value IMHO. Whiie it's not always readily available it's definetly not a unicorn.
Old Forester is easily my favorite distillery. Haven’t had a single whiskey from them I don’t like. Nearly impossible to get a single barrel or single barrel barrel strength.
The comment Rex made about column vs pot stills got me wondering…. are there any readily offerings from a distillery where the same mash bill was run through both types of stills?
So, i'm sure you get this question a lot. How long do bottles last in that room? Like this 100 proof signature release (which is not easy to get in my area), how long has that been sitting in the vault?
Over the last couple of years, y'all have mentioned a lot about how hard it is to get Buffalo Trace products. Does their recent distributor change have something to do with that?
Hello, I'm new to the whiskey world, just want to know which is a better whiskey for a beginner like me, I'm thinking either Green Spot or Red breast. I currently have Jameson and Maker's Mark and I can say that I lean towards the flavor of Makers mark which is creamier on my palate. Any suggestions? BTW, almost always watching Whiskey Tribe and Whiskey Vault videos and I am really liking everything that you put up on the channel. :)
I don't have near the experience of most of the drinkers on here, but I can say that Greenspot is much closer to Jameson, afterall, they are both Irish whiskeys. Greenspot has a very strong green apple flavor to me (great with a bit of Cali Riptide Rye added to give it some spicy heat); definitely more flavorful than Jameson. Neither Red Breast nor Greenspot are anything like Maker's Mark, because they aren't bourbons.
Green Spot is a slightly different Irish from the norm as it has this distinct green apple nose and tasting note. Red Breast is a more typical Irish sugar cookie. I like Green Spot better for it's different take, but both are good.
I had a store pick that was fantastic and picked up another couple from the same store. Unfortunately, while still store picks, they weren’t the same pick. Not bad but the first bottle drank dramatically lower than the proof. The newer one was good but you knew you were drinking something north of 120 proof
They have had a black lable 90 proof Single Barrel but they are hard to find as well (May be just store picks now?). The 1920 is 115 proof and much better and if you want more oak blend it with some 1910 to make 1915.
I’ve been struggling to pick a winner between OFSBBS and the Larceny C923. Both are HITTERS. The OF pick I have now is so cherry forward but the Larceny just drips sweetness. Truly, first world problems to have. Cheers mfkers.
I have a half dozen Old Forester Barrel Strength bourbons. IMO, OFo does better at around 100 proof. It is no accident that Birthday Bourbon clocks in at around 100 (with some variation from year to year). That might be a very good example. Some of them are just hot for the sake of heat. Some are great.
I hear most of these Old Forester Barrel Proofs drink really hot. Like more alcohol burn than flavor. I picked one up but ended up just giving it away without ever opening it haha. I actually never tried any Old Forester now that I think of it. I even had a birthday bourbon but I traded it off.
I have 2 old forester single barrel barrel proof store picks. They're both 126+ proof. They are pretty damn hot. Ones called strawberry crunch. Im not gettin much strawberry from it though. Maybe its because they are just too new and have to open up, but ya im not getting huge flavord from them...yet. they're good dont get me wrong, but not getting the flavors you would expect from an $80-90 single barrel old forester barrel proof store pick
Once they release another batch of bottles, i will like to send yall a bottle of black steel bourbon by the indomitable dr. Disrespect aka guy beahm IV....Ive been really liking it
If you guys could figure out how to add Alex and Briana doing some bicycling to power the x2 multiplier machine on the Titan intros.. I think we would all be grateful for the avaunt grade art the intro would become.
Just noticed the tiny prison cell under the ships wheel. If anybody is regularly kept in there they must be fairly quiet, or you’ve effectively edited around their tortured screaming.
Not sure why so many influencers are afraid to say how much this stuff costs. Quit saying Eagle Rare is a $30 when its going for $100 everywhere. LOL That's dumb
I’ve had one bottle of this, a store pick, and while I generally like high(er) proof bourbon, the bottle I had drank too hot. Good flavors but just too alcohol forward.
This is the bottle I am truly excited to hunt for, love some Old Forester.
Also, the coincidence of me sipping on JTS Brown during the history lesson put a smile on my face. Yes it's 11:30am, don't judge.
What if that judgment is a positive judgment though?
I received this bottle for Christmas. Superb. It’s got some heat. I think the 1920 is still my favorite.
Thanks for the longer whiskey reviews! So much fun !
I think they were feeling it on this one...
How do you not have 1920 just sitting around int he vault?!?
Problem with having a lot of bottles is it’s confusing and enraging when must-have standards are missing, I struggle with this problem as well 😆
I have a OF barrel pick from a Michigan store, it’s fantastic. I prefer it over the 1910 and 1920 which I both love. But taking Rex’s advice I must compare it to ALL the OF’s 😆🥃🥃🥃🥃🥃🥃🥃🥃
Which store in Michigan? I might have to make a trip!
Picked one last month. Had been looking for one for a year. Great stuff, definitely a competitor with Staggs jr, ECBP, Larceny BP, Blue Note BP. The nose is great and the kick is amazing. Mine is 131.2 ABV.

Right?!
Great episode. Loved the editing, really brought it home.
I am a fan boy of Old Forester. The Pre Prohibition is the my all time go to.
Friend/business colleague bought a bottle of this as a gift. It has become a go-to.
Thanks for reviewing a bottle I bought a year ago...the unfortunate part is I only have one, so I am hesitant to open it! Brown Jug did a great job with their 2021 single barrel select lineup!
I can’t wait for the 4th episode of the day to be released. Epic fun.
New to the channel. I like all the OF, but 1910 is my current favorite. (Scored some Buffalo Trace and Weller Special Reserve yesterday and today at several Binny’s in Northern Illinois)
This episode: "We have a good life!"; Last episode: "Oh great...another MGP"...LOL
I hope you realize, I’ve been silently given you tons of 👍🏻’s.
Great review.
I love the classic Old Forester... I want to try this one...
And that.....at the 4.30 time stamp, is the best mooch move you'll ever witness! Well played Rex, well played indeed!
How have I never noticed the funny stories in the video description before? I have been missing out.
I grabbed a bottle of this in Houston. A Total Wine store pick. I haven't cracked it yet. Looking forward to it!
Never had a bad Old Forester Single Barrel and always go out of my way to snag one when theres a local store pick.
Naming my future kids Iceburg, watercress, and romaine because of this video!
Got to try Old Forester and it is one of my favorites.
Y'all got me day drinking with you for this one. I'm a huge OF fan and love the single barrel, it's in my Top 10, maybe even Top 5.
Maybe I missed it, but is there a difference between 'Barrel Proof' and 'Cask Strength'? If so, please expound upon it.
no difference. same thing.
@@TheBradWhittington Thx
Those women in whiskey bottles that Jackie Zycan selected are incredible..I had two.but I should have bought a case.
Grabbed one of these last week , store pick . Excited
Happy Monday Morning MB's
“You look like you should be operating a fan boat in the bayou”.
Fantastic
Thank you guys for such an entertaining episode. :))))
Just picked up a couple store picks of this bottle at krogers for 70 a piece at 129 proof. Great stuff
Brown Foreman is killing it lately.
Great review. Love me some Old Forester
I agree that Daniel should go full beard handlebar. It will be his next Whiskey Somm evolution! Hell my handlebar mustache happened only AFTER I started getting into whiskey. o_O
That's us @11:05 ,the Brown Jug Whatever People™

What's the ratio of quidditch to shrute bucks?

I have to look for this one to see if it tastes more complex and better than the 1920 or 1910
Ahh I gotta try this stuff!! I enjoy most of OF’s bottles
Censoring Daniel stroking the neck (shaft) made me laugh so hard😂😂
Was able to score one have not opened yet
Old Forester is easily my favorite distillery. Haven’t had a single whiskey from them I don’t like. Nearly impossible to get a single barrel or single barrel barrel strength.
Good morning
I like the Old Forester line up. No bad whiskey in it.
I have to wonder, on the days when you're sampling quite a few, do you guys have somebody there that acts as a dd, or do you spend a shit ton on uber?
The comment Rex made about column vs pot stills got me wondering…. are there any readily offerings from a distillery where the same mash bill was run through both types of stills?
I have that bottle. Fantastic. Once it opens up I get a bit of bubble gum on the palate, and peach ring in the finish.
My #1 "unicorn" bottle and my #1 favorite everyday bottle.
Great review gents! I have yet to find a OFSB bourbon that disappoints. Flavor bomb!
So, i'm sure you get this question a lot. How long do bottles last in that room? Like this 100 proof signature release (which is not easy to get in my area), how long has that been sitting in the vault?
Are you guys going to get some Cask strength MGP and release that?
The Bonded JTS Brown is a caramel bomb and I often throw a bottle in on orders to mitigate the shipping charges.
Over the last couple of years, y'all have mentioned a lot about how hard it is to get Buffalo Trace products. Does their recent distributor change have something to do with that?
Got a bottle today. It's mucho flavor
"Gotta do 'em all, man. It's science", says the Mooch
GOOD MORNING YOU MB'S.... 🥃
Why not taste 1920?
How old is that old forester signature? I've never even seen that bottle design, every signature I've bought has been a screw cap.
More trivia: J. T. S. Brown was the whiskey "Fast Eddie" Felson (Paul Newman) drank in movie "The Hustler"
Must have been the barrel we got in the bottle I tasted but I preferred 1920 and 1910 over the single barrel.

I liked my OF single barrel barrel proof, but I think 1920 is superior especially since it's only 52$ compared to $80 for the single barrel.
Love this stuff!
Does OF offer a "general" single barrel or are they only store picks? I'd love to find one, but can't here in Nebraska...
They have had a black lable 90 proof Single Barrel but they are hard to find as well (May be just store picks now?). The 1920 is 115 proof and much better and if you want more oak blend it with some 1910 to make 1915.

Chefs kiss for the censor edit
I love that whiskey.

If i was to send yall a whiskey to review, how would i go about it?

You should try adding more alcohol to lower proof whiskeys for a video, cant remember if u already did - Mathias
What kind though? Unaged new make would be pretty dependent on mash bills and with less reference than water for a viewer.
“Always approach the whiskey in context it is meaning to be promoted or sold.” - Daniel …. Proper Twelve might want to have a word with you 😂.
Titan x2 sounds like a new Pendulum and In Flames colab
I just noticed the video descriptions are just random things with the person who donated the bottle. lol.
Got that one, very good.
Reach for OF 86 or 100 when I want that chocolate covered cherry note
Thanks for the review 🥃 sadly I don't think this one is for me
1920 is the best juice they make pound for pound
Guys, re-watch "The Sting"--everybody always orders JTS Brown.
Daniel looks like the Lorax with his beard that way.
Third show taped that day?
Yep, you can tell, lol...
kale is great when cooked like greens.
smooth. not bitter.
Daniel doing sexy face. I need my safe place 😂😂
I love Old Forester. I would put OF 100 Proof up against most other bourbons
A store near me in maryland has a pick. They want $90 for it. Fyi
Probably Warehouse G, not Warehouse 6.
OF 1920 is the bomb
Quintillion?

If your neighbors had spelled it Cael, it’s an Irish name with some history. We got one in our family, not the salad type.
Daniel looked like a human walrus when he split his beard! Gotta say I dig it!
How dare you, kale is the best cabbage
Greetings from Germany
Somehow, I was able to score a single barrel OF rye in 2021 and 2022. Never seen a single barrel bourbon.
I’ve had one bottle of this, a store pick, and while I generally like high(er) proof bourbon, the bottle I had drank too hot. Good flavors but just too alcohol forward.
Some guy from Alaska sent you his booze...?
That's definitely like a 4x multiplier.
For the Peepll!
