This is the bottle I am truly excited to hunt for, love some Old Forester.
Also, the coincidence of me sipping on JTS Brown during the history lesson put a smile on my face. Yes it's 11:30am, don't judge.
What if that judgment is a positive judgment though?
I received this bottle for Christmas. Superb. It’s got some heat. I think the 1920 is still my favorite.

Picked one last month. Had been looking for one for a year. Great stuff, definitely a competitor with Staggs jr, ECBP, Larceny BP, Blue Note BP. The nose is great and the kick is amazing. Mine is 131.2 ABV.
My wife and I went on a Tennessee whiskey distillery tour last year. Tiny glasses, lots of nosing and tasting, but by the third distillery, (out of TEN) we were feeling no pain. By seven, my wife was taking a nap on the bus. Can't imagine doing it as a vocation. Fun, though. You guys have it made in the shade. In this video, you guys kinda remind me of that third or fourth distillery. Nice to see you guys tipsy.

I have a OF barrel pick from a Michigan store, it’s fantastic. I prefer it over the 1910 and 1920 which I both love. But taking Rex’s advice I must compare it to ALL the OF’s 😆🥃🥃🥃🥃🥃🥃🥃🥃

Thanks for reviewing a bottle I bought a year ago...the unfortunate part is I only have one, so I am hesitant to open it! Brown Jug did a great job with their 2021 single barrel select lineup!

Problem with having a lot of bottles is it’s confusing and enraging when must-have standards are missing, I struggle with this problem as well 😆

New to the channel. I like all the OF, but 1910 is my current favorite. (Scored some Buffalo Trace and Weller Special Reserve yesterday and today at several Binny’s in Northern Illinois)

Y'all got me day drinking with you for this one. I'm a huge OF fan and love the single barrel, it's in my Top 10, maybe even Top 5.
Old Forester is easily my favorite distillery. Haven’t had a single whiskey from them I don’t like. Nearly impossible to get a single barrel or single barrel barrel strength.
I love the classic Old Forester... I want to try this one...
Never had a bad Old Forester Single Barrel and always go out of my way to snag one when theres a local store pick.

Store Pick Old Forester Single Barrels are a hidden gem. Especially if you like higher proof bourbon. Flavor BOMBS with a LONG finish. Probably not for the newbie or lower proof drinkers.
Honestly one of the best bourbons I have ever tasted (so far).
I don't know why people are "hunting" and WAY overpaying for exlusive bottles when they can pick up something like this. MUCH better value IMHO. Whiie it's not always readily available it's definetly not a unicorn.
Got to try Old Forester and it is one of my favorites.
I have to look for this one to see if it tastes more complex and better than the 1920 or 1910

I like the Old Forester line up. No bad whiskey in it.
I have that bottle. Fantastic. Once it opens up I get a bit of bubble gum on the palate, and peach ring in the finish.
I liked my OF single barrel barrel proof, but I think 1920 is superior especially since it's only 52$ compared to $80 for the single barrel.
The Bonded JTS Brown is a caramel bomb and I often throw a bottle in on orders to mitigate the shipping charges.
Must have been the barrel we got in the bottle I tasted but I preferred 1920 and 1910 over the single barrel.
I had a store pick that was fantastic and picked up another couple from the same store. Unfortunately, while still store picks, they weren’t the same pick. Not bad but the first bottle drank dramatically lower than the proof. The newer one was good but you knew you were drinking something north of 120 proof

Maybe I missed it, but is there a difference between 'Barrel Proof' and 'Cask Strength'? If so, please expound upon it.

I have a half dozen Old Forester Barrel Strength bourbons. IMO, OFo does better at around 100 proof. It is no accident that Birthday Bourbon clocks in at around 100 (with some variation from year to year). That might be a very good example. Some of them are just hot for the sake of heat. Some are great.
So, i'm sure you get this question a lot. How long do bottles last in that room? Like this 100 proof signature release (which is not easy to get in my area), how long has that been sitting in the vault?
I have to wonder, on the days when you're sampling quite a few, do you guys have somebody there that acts as a dd, or do you spend a shit ton on uber?
The comment Rex made about column vs pot stills got me wondering…. are there any readily offerings from a distillery where the same mash bill was run through both types of stills?
Hello, I'm new to the whiskey world, just want to know which is a better whiskey for a beginner like me, I'm thinking either Green Spot or Red breast. I currently have Jameson and Maker's Mark and I can say that I lean towards the flavor of Makers mark which is creamier on my palate. Any suggestions?
BTW, almost always watching Whiskey Tribe and Whiskey Vault videos and I am really liking everything that you put up on the channel. :)
I don't have near the experience of most of the drinkers on here, but I can say that Greenspot is much closer to Jameson, afterall, they are both Irish whiskeys. Greenspot has a very strong green apple flavor to me (great with a bit of Cali Riptide Rye added to give it some spicy heat); definitely more flavorful than Jameson. Neither Red Breast nor Greenspot are anything like Maker's Mark, because they aren't bourbons.
Green Spot is a slightly different Irish from the norm as it has this distinct green apple nose and tasting note. Red Breast is a more typical Irish sugar cookie. I like Green Spot better for it's different take, but both are good.
Over the last couple of years, y'all have mentioned a lot about how hard it is to get Buffalo Trace products. Does their recent distributor change have something to do with that?

I hear most of these Old Forester Barrel Proofs drink really hot. Like more alcohol burn than flavor. I picked one up but ended up just giving it away without ever opening it haha. I actually never tried any Old Forester now that I think of it. I even had a birthday bourbon but I traded it off.
More trivia: J. T. S. Brown was the whiskey "Fast Eddie" Felson (Paul Newman) drank in movie "The Hustler"
How old is that old forester signature? I've never even seen that bottle design, every signature I've bought has been a screw cap.

I’ve been struggling to pick a winner between OFSBBS and the Larceny C923.
Both are HITTERS. The OF pick I have now is so cherry forward but the Larceny just drips sweetness.

I have 2 old forester single barrel barrel proof store picks. They're both 126+ proof. They are pretty damn hot. Ones called strawberry crunch. Im not gettin much strawberry from it though. Maybe its because they are just too new and have to open up, but ya im not getting huge flavord from them...yet. they're good dont get me wrong, but not getting the flavors you would expect from an $80-90 single barrel old forester barrel proof store pick

What kind though? Unaged new make would be pretty dependent on mash bills and with less reference than water for a viewer.

Does OF offer a "general" single barrel or are they only store picks? I'd love to find one, but can't here in Nebraska...
They have had a black lable 90 proof Single Barrel but they are hard to find as well (May be just store picks now?). The 1920 is 115 proof and much better and if you want more oak blend it with some 1910 to make 1915.

I’ve had one bottle of this, a store pick, and while I generally like high(er) proof bourbon, the bottle I had drank too hot. Good flavors but just too alcohol forward.
