Can vouch. I own this car and it handles business. I've taken it on a "difficult" marked overland trail up a sketchy mountain and although it needed to be cooled down twice it still crushed it out. Very impressive stock for 4wd. Slaps on any other SUV on the market right now in overall functionality.
Nice review, and excellent place to test the awd system! I'm wondering if the second run at 9:55 was successful due to momentum, however. Anyway, it was a good demonstration of the vehicle's capabilities. It's nice to see the wet dual clutch didn't overheat, an issue the Seltos with the dry clutch had. Thanks for the review!
Yeah it definitely could’ve been. Unfortunately I didn’t stop and test it. But so far the Sorento is the most capable Kia since the seltos overheats its transmission, and the telluride just sits and spins! Appreciate the feedback!
In this case no, because turning tsc off would just cause the unweighted wheel to spin endlessly. It would be beneficial to turn off tsc if you’re trying to go through deep snow or mud though.
Pity the Sorento is no longer more off-road capable, especially considering that was its unique mission back when it was created. Tiguan is another that completely discontinued its off-road variant. Subaru and Jeep are the only ones that have stayed true to their off-road capabilities. I guess the manufactures figure so few owners take their cars off-road why bother. Anyway, great review, just bring a squeegee along next time.
Whenever you have a DCT its best off to not take it off road, that type of transmission’s achilles heal is spinning wheels, constant slow speeds and creeping
Steven, thank you for this. Been looking at the Sorrento X-line vs the Santa Fe equivalent. We have a Turbo 2020 Mazda CX 5 AWD which we have taken off road and it has done very well. The two areas we are looking to improve in a similar vehicle are more ground clearance and more interior space that include the richness of the Mazda CX5 interior. This Sorrento seems to fit that bill. Do you know if the X-line will be available with the hybrid engine? Thank you for such an informative review. Will you be comparing the Hyundai equivalent any time soon? BTW where did you do this review in California. It looks familiar to me.
The hybrid is front wheel drive only. The plug in version will be all wheel drive but I think the x line trim will be gas only. I definitely want to test out some Hyundai’s, vw’s, and the previous gen Sorento so those should be coming soon on the channel!
Really thinking about this or the telluride. I like the size f telluride but wouldn't it be worse because of the weight difference? Want a decent offroader that would mainly be for the family. But can still be taken off road when it's just me. Already have a sedan

Definitely 😂does not

someone who knows what hes reviewing, job well done!
Banging review, keep it up brother
Appreciate the feedback!
Good job👍...very clear test of awd system
Thanks for the feedback! 😁
Very nice review, this thing could be fantastic with a better off-road tread
Definitely!
Very cool review thanks
Kia keep releasing fantastic cars every year!
Will the 2023 Sorento Hybrid AWD be able to perform as well on this trail compared to the X-line?
Out of curiosity, did you engage lock the differential for this climb, or keep the vehicle in it's standard active AWD mode?
The AWD lock was engaged
Wow Kia sorento Top up goooood
Good review. Good testing too. I'd argue the honda awd system is superior based on another channel.
Agree, videos showing Honda's i-VTM4 are very impressive!
Oddly your voice is relaxing. Lol
Made this review worth it.
Thank you for this.
Can you confirm if ESC and traction control was completely turned off in the last climb?
Traction control was left on for all the climbs.
@@theupshiftcarblog9555 thanks for the update.
Do you think if switching off tsc would have been better?

The Toyota Rav4 in TRD trim seem to be pretty good!
subaru off road? with crsappy cvt????

This was done on Maple Springs Truck Trail in Orange County
Not only are the tires are wrong for off-roading, those 20" rims are way too big. Better with 18" rims.
Too bad you can't option them. It would have to be an additional after purchase upgrade.
I bought the EX for that reason. It opens my options down the road.

Telluride is junk for off road. Sorento is a little better. But no Kia is really made for off road.
How well does it drive in snow?
Haven't had a chance to test it in snow yet :/
My brother has this car in the gt line and for off road it did way better than the x line
Not the right tires to off road in. You’d have better results had you tested it with a proper setup.
Everyone knows that, the purpose of videos like these is to show what off road performance you get from the factory.
Tell that to Kia.
Keep talking, the camcord in the sky! WTF
