Hey buddy. That is a beautiful bike! I built a custom 79cc front friction drive (with a 20" x 3" front tire). Here is the key to making the 79cc scream. Remove the governer completely. Take case off, and remove plastic gear, clip, etc. You dont want the plastic gear running higher rpm, it can shatter. Buy a 19mm carb (about $20) and drill main jet out a little more using micro drill bits. Only a little at a time. Pull off original air filter and replace with high flow. Change stock exhaust to header (im a welder by trade so i just cut stock exhaust manifold after flange, and welded a tube from an old bicycle frame. That will give you a nice increase in torque and power. To get more power at a little bit higher rpm, pull off the head, push springs and pull out valves. Grad a $25 dollar harbor freight electric die grinder, and clean casting flash in ports, sharpen the valve guides on the sides a little for a noce transition, smooth out the casting flash inside the ports right before the valve guides so its a smooth transition into the bowl (try not to hit the valve guides. Buy some feeler gauges, and take around .030-.050 max off the cylinder head (milling). Do this by taking sand paper, and taping it to a flat piece of glass, granite or marble and create a figure 8 motion keeping the head as flat as possible. It takes some time and extremely boring. Again take off around .030-.050 to bump your compression. Youll want to run at least 93 octane. Now, take your rocker arms, and drill the pushrod dimple about 3/16 closer to the pivot point. This will increase your lift of your camshaft from stock .170 to around .210-.220 Take your valve springs to the hardware store, and find some springs a little smaller that will fit inside stock springs, or buy some predator 212cc 18lb springs. Now pull flywheel and take timing key and shave down for around a 6-8 degree advance, and index your spark plug. Your 79cc will now scream. The stock bottom end of mine has been fine up to about 7000 rpm and does 42mph on a friction drive setup
Ok,here’s what did. I removed the govenor gear inside the engine case, and installed a 40tooth rear sprocket. I’m 205lbs and I hit 36mph. Then I tried a 38 tooth sprocket and I hit 37mph. I’m happy with that for the gearing, and plan on keeping it that way.
I have had mine for months now. I routed the springs to a far better config. The throttle would throw itself wide open if I leaned the bike to the right. I adjusted the governor to spec and replaced the carb to an aftermarket with a proper fuel air mix screw to tune it. Pulls hard till the gov kicks in around 25mph and cruises at a solid 30mph on the flats. My main problems are with the drivetrain. The 415 chain makes the centrifugal clutch too rare and expensive. Using 410 sprockets on the half shaft with the chain riding the hub of the small sprocket not fully engaging the teeth and making a crazy amount of noise. 420 chain, clutch, and sprockets is my next project for this beast.
Damn dude loosen the screw on the gov. bypass. I can'i believe the people that think this bike is a turd. The Lifan engine is an industrial engine and basically meets automotive specs as an engine.
Hahaha I know his throttle screw is the whole way in. Idk know why ppl think bypass is needed. If you remove the screw completely it does the same thing with out making your bike max rev all the time
Loosen the governor screw or take it out altogether and you should get way more than 15 mph.. I just rode mine 3 miles to the pub and it cruised easy 30 mph
@@Christian_jenner It is really called the throttle limiter screw. It is down at the bottom where linkage attaches to engine. Check it and see that it doesn't limit you from full throttle. More than likely you'll need to bypass the gov.
I am getting reports that the top speed is closer to 25mph now. I also hear they are putting some extra emphasis into batch testing and extreme pressure testing along with more weather testing. Seems that they sank a TON of focus into customer feedback.
All you have to do is to adjust the screw on the engine that has a spring on it. Looking at your video the screw is in too much. Open it out a bit more
No man they pretty well top out at 17-18mph. And in my state the law is 20mph or you have to have title, registration, and insurance. Now bitch is despite it going 18mph, my state also says 1 break horse power, and 50cc. So since this is pretty much the perfect build for California, and my state seems to think climbing hills at 13mph is too much to call a bike, I get to use the highway going 17mph as trucks come at me going 60 because my payment allocates me full usage of the roadway.... The whole system needs a federal standard and this is what a motorized bike should be...
Shoulda bypassed the governor from the gate. I did and mine went 27 right out of the box at 3/4 throttle. The reason for the low top out is the gearing. My guess is that they are geared around 20:1 or 22:1. I had a great 4 stroke made with a Predator Monster "90" and with a gear ratio of 12:1 it went 43. 8:1 blew the clutch and warped the jig at 48mph. Pretty sure this is why they decided to lean towards acceleration rather then top speed. The latter risks self-destruction.
My new fat moto bike did not have baby powder in the tires so I had to put baby powder and the tires with the tubes. I just took off one side of the tire I didn't even take the back wheel off. I put it on its side with some padding and evenly distribute out the baby powder while turning the tire and shaking it. Adding the baby powder in the tires and tubes they have lasted now for years. Without baby powder I use to have early tube and sometimes Tire failure.

I've been pedaling so it doesn't look like a motorcycle or scooter so hopefully they won't pull me over. And when I see police coming I shut the engine off and keep pedaling. And turn it back on when they're gone.
As long as you're wearing a helmet, lights on the bike and obey traffic laws the cops won't bother you. I'm in California ride mine everywhere haven't been hassled once.
Mine is coming on Friday. I'm thinking about putting the Huasheng 49cc on it. I'm hoping the clutch will bolt right up to the engine shaft. The engine shafts look very similar but I don't know. I think it should work, 6800 rpms opposed to 3600 should boots the top end.
@@NAIATHEDRAGON for the price, yes. What are they up to now, $700? My last tank frame bike cost me around $1200 to build. If you wanted a faster lightweight engine get the one from the Honda 2200 watt generator it's small and relatively light. It's around a 120 cc engine and the engine is pretty quiet but costly. You could probably add gears to it to make it faster.

@@slammedvdub1 that was my first thought... but no, a normal/healthy amount of play for a chain (I have a couple two strokes, an e-bike, a pit bike). But still, re-did the motor mounting three times, last time looser than I would run a bike out of frustration. Also fiddled with the jackshaft gear position despite it looking perfectly straight the first time, no change. Been wanting this since I read the first ad. Yes I’ll watch the bypass video but another question is in the pictures I never notice a muffler, is ther a way to mount one? Most four stroke the exhaust hits the front of the bike and turn it black with out one. Another question I have a small trailer I built to haul my camping supplies and gear, is the back wheel bolt long enough to mounting the hitch? And one last question I’ll problem have to call them and ask how long on delivery now? It says in stock so does that mean I order it’s shipped fast and I’d get with in a week or so? Ye I know lots of question
Once rode from Miami to Seattle on a push bike. 18 mph average speed - that was fast enough. Your preoccupation with speed . . . I don't get. At 70 I'm interested in this bike to go cross country, not to break speed records!
Take a paperclip find the governor spring connected to throttle bend the pc to feed threw spring and tie off ,.a metal bread tie works ur bike will hit 6000 rpm quick do not rev beyond 6500 or shell shake to death
Also, I emailed the company and the sent an invoice with $70 off. Plus free shipping and no taxes if you're outside of California. Might wait till black Friday, though, because last year they were on sale for $499
Daniel. I wonder if you could share your thoughts in buying and assembling this bike? I'm speaking and concerned about how well it is put together and ultimately lands into one's hands. Saw your video on assembly of your Phatmoto. I also saw a video made by a U Tuber that showed many flaws and haphazard construction of his order and how much time he had to spend to get it working. He appears to be upbeat in his like for the bike but mentions many stirling things that were made on his order including tank leaks, scratches and bad welding? Could you offer your thoughts on whether Phatmoto has improved it's product and caught up with fixing and refusing to send out said bikes with flaws and only sending out better made orders for satisfied customers. Is the Phatmoto worth getting?
I have had zero problems with my particular bike. Overall construction was above my expectations honestly. Welds looked great, paint/finish looked good and I have not had any leaks or failures. I thinks is a decent bike to purchase. We prefer our "ebikes" over these gas powered ones for many reasons, but I think you will be satisfied with your purchase for sure! Hope this helps
Go with the qmatic drive transmission it is a belt drive kind of like the torque converter but it has a centrifugal clutch on the back part and if you want a phone number to reach the guy just ask and I will give you the number or look up qmatic Drive transmissions for motor bicycles
Could be, I wouldn't rule anything out. Do you have one? I run mine with the switch to the lift facing the shaft side of the engine. It says on, I don't know if that means the engines is on or the choke is on. But I don't think I have a leak, because the thing is a beast ! I don't think it would run as good as it does if it had a leak. No BS using my GPS as a speedometer I'm hitting 38mph on flat ground and 41 to 43 downhill. Of course that's not with the stock sprocket. And the thing is so quiet.
I bought one I was wondering if you have any idea why the clutch on mine makes a pinging sound when I accelerate Im guessing something is hitting the metall bell thats around the clutch
Not without butchering the frame. I saw somebody attempted it but they had to cut out the entire seatpost tube jackshaft and all. If you want a 212 I would go with a 29er beach cruiser frame. It's really easy to do on a trike.
Lol I saw this and knew instantly you didn't know what your doing. All these have to come speed limited from the factory for legal purposes. A simple adjustment is all it needs.
@@josephrodriguez6124 when you turn the throttle, it moves a lever on the carburator. There is a tab that stops that lever from going full throttle to limit it to legal speeds. You can cut that tab (or sometimes its a screw that can be unscrewed) so that you are able to actually go full throttle. And after that, you can disable the actual governor and get about 40mph out of a stock one. Lots of videos on the 79cc and 212cc predator engines and mods for them. If you wanted to get more in depth and change the carburator and exhaust you can double the stock horsepower.
@@josephrodriguez6124 zero risk to making it go full throttle. These engines are made to go that speed constantly. The only reason the throttle is blocked is because the bike has to be sold with a certain top speed legally. Zero risk in the carb and exhaust as long as you buy ones that are made for the 79cc engines. Removing the governor is more in depth, but pretty easy. I'd watch some videos on removing the governor to get more info. These are very easy engines to work on, and they last for years. They use the same engines on generators, power washers, air compressors, log splitters and anything else that needs a small utility engine. Very cheap parts and they are less than 100$ to replace the entire engine if it ever needs it for some reason. I love these little things. And you can use the bike lane so you never have to be stuck in traffic and get 100mpg or so 😁
I have a 49cc on my old single speed track bike with 700cc wheels and tires (27"). Out of the box that thing went 38 mph on a 1%-2% downhill with no problem. I can regularly hit 27-30 on a slight 2% grade without any issues. Now, my old single speed has ceramic bearings, 32 spoke racing wheels and lightweight but hardy Kenda 700cc x 28 tires....I used to race it on the track , not with those tires. My total weight with the engine and fuel is 42 lbs. with the bike accounting for 17 lbs of that, including the heavy tires and rims. I have wondered if I put my Zipp 404 Track Firecrest wheels on the bike how fast would it go???.....hmmmmm
You engine guys on bicycles need to start thinking about buying an electric bike. I have an aerial Rider x class 52 volt that does 36 mph on throttle alone, and doesn't require a heavy engine to run it! Just my opinion though:-)

And a silica packet explosion as icing on the cake hah
Been wanting this since I read the first ad. Yes I’ll watch the bypass video but another question is in the pictures I never notice a muffler, is ther a way to mount one? Most four stroke the exhaust hits the front of the bike and turn it black with out one. Another question I have a small trailer I built to haul my camping supplies and gear, is the back wheel bolt long enough to mounting the hitch? And one last question I’ll problem have to call them and ask how long on delivery now? It says in stock so does that mean I order it’s shipped fast and I’d get with in a week or so? Ye I know lots of question
Do you know other words then slow?
That's idle speed. That huge motor has another 35 mph available. Although the brakes won't stop it properly.
Lol the way your trying to bypass the governor arm is hilarious.. you should put a spring instead of putting your throttle cable there....
Is it possible to just pedal the bike if a rider doesn't want to use gas
I've seen video of that bike hitting 30 without bypassing the governor on more than one channel ...
That's great video.
You either need A 56T or A 66T sprocket or you need A 32t or a 40T sprocket for more speed either that or they sold you a faulty engine
Once rode from Miami to Seattle on a push bike. 18 mph average speed - that was fast enough.
Your preoccupation with speed . . . I don't get. At 70 I'm interested in this bike to go cross country, not to break speed records!
I 212 swapped my all terrain and now its about 45mph
Im just curious why your jackshaft stickes out about 1 or 2 inches, on the right side? Mine is flush with the bearings.
It's a 2019 model.
Take a paperclip find the governor spring connected to throttle bend the pc to feed threw spring and tie off ,.a metal bread tie works ur bike will hit 6000 rpm quick do not rev beyond 6500 or shell shake to death
For $1500 it should do at least 35 mph stock with a heavy person riding it
It's $699 on all the sites I've looked at.
Also, I emailed the company and the sent an invoice with $70 off. Plus free shipping and no taxes if you're outside of California. Might wait till black Friday, though, because last year they were on sale for $499
Yeah whos paying 1500?? They only 700 and have been for years. Yes they do have some custom models that sell around that but not this bike.
On the jackshaft put a smaller sprocket on there and it should go faster I don't know about climbing 2 bigger Hills
Great job thanks a lot going to get me a red one on Amazon
How is the gas mileage and how tall she's ? is this a small or medium bike ?
I always remove the governor.😈😈
your govner screw is adjusted all the way in . unscrew it out. it will be better
Go with the qmatic drive transmission it is a belt drive kind of like the torque converter but it has a centrifugal clutch on the back part and if you want a phone number to reach the guy just ask and I will give you the number or look up qmatic Drive transmissions for motor bicycles
Don't they have mods for this engine to like cam lighter flywheel
Speedometer kmh or mph?
i have a question. my bike will only run with the choke on. what could it be. going to strip the carb this weekend??? need ideas.l
On mine the sticker is wrong ,off is on and on is off.
You have an air leak somewhere. Putting the choke on fools the engine into thinking that the mixture is right when it isn't.
I bought one
I was wondering if you have any idea why the clutch on mine makes a pinging sound when I accelerate
Im guessing something is hitting the metall bell thats around the clutch
You're sopposed to routinely oil the clutch. Oil it, and the pinging goes away.
If you want speed swap it with a Predator 212cc from Harbor Freight Tools.
Take the governor out
I bypass GOV with model airplane push rods. Easy.
Do you think it's possible to add a 212
Not without butchering the frame.
What adjustments can be made for more speed?
@@josephrodriguez6124 when you turn the throttle, it moves a lever on the carburator. There is a tab that stops that lever from going full throttle to limit it to legal speeds. You can cut that tab (or sometimes its a screw that can be unscrewed) so that you are able to actually go full throttle. And after that, you can disable the actual governor and get about 40mph out of a stock one. Lots of videos on the 79cc and 212cc predator engines and mods for them. If you wanted to get more in depth and change the carburator and exhaust you can double the stock horsepower.
@@pauld.b7129 Doing those things won't blow the engine out? Is there any risks?
And you can use the bike lane so you never have to be stuck in traffic and get 100mpg or so 😁
@@pauld.b7129 Holy wow thank you for the information. Seens like a very reliable engine.
You a lucky man thanks...
Max speed??🤔🤔
My new phatmoto engine gets too hot after a short ride ! Anybody can explain why ?
It’s a combustion engine running it for 2 minutes will get it hot
The motorised bike I built with a shitty ebay 80cc engine kit did like 35mph
Why does it need pedals if it has a motor?
20mph for me. right at the 3600 governor. fast enough for me.
if i new that jack shalf could handle it. i would put a 212 cc engine on it.
can you just put another motor in it
I want one !
get a expansion champers muffler and get lesser tooth sprocket were the wheel for more top speed
There is a reason why they put a governor in it...
about the same top speed as an E-bike here
The reason it’s slow is because the gearing is all torque. Try a smaller sprocket on the back
Smaller DISC Sprockets here mbrebel.com/product-category/bike-motor-parts/sprockets-for-mag-wheels-disc-hubs/page/4/
Very nice lady and bike too.
@ of that chick riding?
My 4 stroke 50cc 35 miles, maybe 40...
I have wondered if I put my Zipp 404 Track Firecrest wheels on the bike how fast would it go???.....hmmmmm
change your carb to a raceing carb more air and gas watch zeda motor sports on You tube and file open the ports
I mean, how fast do you really want to go on a bicycle? 40, at absolutely tops, and that ain't on a stock frame either...
You engine guys on bicycles need to start thinking about buying an electric bike. I have an aerial Rider x class 52 volt that does 36 mph on throttle alone, and doesn't require a heavy engine to run it! Just my opinion though:-)
Needs oil and to be briken in
Switch the spring in it n itll go 30mph
Jeez, labor the point about the speed, when the damned governor is either maladjusted or just in the way. GET ON WITH THE REST OF IT.
Yeah I’m not gonna but it
Should have got a two stroke, it would have cost you substantially less & you'd hit 40 mph stock. And plus that's illegal to ride your phantoms on roads in the United States, it's over 50 CC's bra 👍. It's not considered a motorized bicycle anymore at least legality wise. That's the whole purpose of getting a motorized bicycle is it's legal. Not when it's 79cc huge turd lawn mower engine, though.
If you watch my other videos I've had many two strokes man. Bought the Phatmoto to play with and cruise around on.
@@slammedvdub1 you bought a phantom and you had two strokes before... what blasphemy you sold us out man LOL. Why did you get that man after watching it on Jay Leno I couldn't LOL and the price arfhhhh
@@JamesPiccone even worse, I recorded this on a radrover ebike! I have them all man, I have a love for all things non exercise haha
@@slammedvdub1 I guess if I could afford it I'd probably bought it too for shitz and giggles. Just watched some of your videos killer builds bro 👍 I just finished one today
@@slammedvdub1 my type of person lol
Not to bad
the other bike. Rad Rover is so quiet.
Too slow? Smaller rear sprocket 🤙🤙
Sounds like a cheap Walmart lawnmower that seriously needs a tuneup. Great looking bike though, and the girlfriend is cute, at least what I can see from the, ahem, rear.
What's with all the fat people trying to make this bike go faster than factory specs?
Lmfaoooo you said 15 mph Lmfaooooo a turtle faster I got a gas bike hits almost 60 mph I would be embarrassed to take my girl on 15 mph she like hey babe you can go now and you like I’m maxed out hun she like sheshhhhhhh wrong guy should of choose brad Lmfaooooo
У меня двигатель 125 сс 😂😂😂
Yes that bike is slow as hell and no your lady is not 110 lbs
It's a bike.. not a motorcycle
