    Thank you for this! OMG, when you screwed out the yellow flower piece my mind was blown! I've had this thing for a couple of years and I've tried to get that thing off a hundred times. You rock.

    The propeller is just held in buy a magnet you can use a small pair of pliers to pull it out so you can clean better.

    The impeller in the pump pulls out for gentle cleaning. It is the little white thing. Very important.

    THANK YOU!! I just recently discovered that the hole where the cable is going is a nice pit of nasty and there was no way for me to remove it (contrary to the other side of the pump), so I had ordered a new one and I was trying to see how I could fill that little space there with some kind of submersible, potable water/food grade safe and that wouldn't dissolve or get any leaks in. I somehow happened to click on your video from a Google search (yay Google videos results!) and seeing you remove the back was mind-blowing. I rushed to my old pump and grabbed some pliers and after 3 tries it popped open!!! YAY! I'll clean it up and find a way to open up more easily so that I can keep that part clean from now on, and I'll keep the new pump aside for whenever this original pump decides to die for real. It's lasted 18 months so far. The company should really point out that it's important to clean it out in the back too or at least put in some kind of grommet to block the hole from getting water inside. Nowhere have I seen any mention of the back panel. Anyway, THANK YOU again!

    GREAT video yet you might want to ADD - taking the IMPELLER OUT and CLEANING IT - AS WELL AS GETTING DOWN INTO ITS HOUSING …… then it will be COMPLETELY CLEANED.
    Ps ( use a knife to LIFT the impeller OUT …..it’s magnetic and will not just fall out on its own !)

    I wondered where to put the sponge thing. My motor was taped down. I got brave and untaped it. There was already one in it. There's tiny suction cups on the bottom of the motor. Who knew? They don't tell you about that in the manual. Thanks.

      One pet, about every two weeks. More than that, about once a week. Roughly every 7th or 8th refill, depending on how gross your pet backwashes in it. Me, I have a cat who won't keep his $#+@#* feet out of it!! Man, that thing gets NASTY!!

    Nearly every one of these unofficial cat fountain cleaning videos glosses over the fact that the pump impeller is removable and VERY important to clean.

    • @sashatanbusch1135
      @sashatanbusch1135 9 месяцев назад

      Can you explain please? I am trying to do this right.

    • @rplieth
      @rplieth 9 месяцев назад +2

      @@sashatanbusch1135 Yes, the square pump in the bottom of your cats water bowl easily separates into two pieces. Inside one half of the unit is a small white propeller looking device. It is magnetically held into the pump. With somethink like a fork or more simply, needlenose pliers... pull this out and clean it and the shaft it goes into then place it back in. Keep in mind this may vary by model but nearly every pump will have a removable and cleanable impeller. In this video he points right at it at 2:40.

  • @mobilecont2737

    You forgot to take the white impellor out. It is magnetic and pops right out and soak it in white vinegar.

    When you're cleaning the motor, after you take the front face off and the little plastic piece that's under it, the piece under *that* which has the three little flanges that drive the water also comes out -- the drive shaft or whatever. It's held in magnetically, so you can just grab the edges and pull it out, and it snaps back in. You'll need a pipe cleaner or something else really thin to clean inside it; the toothbrush probably won't work. Not sure how to quickly get all of those nooks and crannies you pointed out, and especially down in the hole that the shaft drops into. Currently best way I've found is to fashion a tool from the wire of the pipe cleaners, but it would be nice to know a better way.

    • @randallrandall1995
      @randallrandall1995 3 года назад +1

      Well, four flanges, but the idea's the important thing. :)

      @nelliesingh59 2 года назад +1

      Thank you both for that!
      Held in magnetically its called the ‘propeller’. Using a q tip cleans that narrow part well. Make sure to rinse out any soap in there. They can taste it.

  • @Dr4gonDr0p
    @Dr4gonDr0p 2 месяца назад +1

    You’re not supposed to clean the black sponge with soapy water. Just rinse it because you will never get all the soap out.
