She consistently has them whenever near those (I'm not sure what to call it so I'm going with neon demons) Neon Demons, e.g the thumbnails in the reactions videos. Not to mention in the Psycho video, the Neon Demon child during the chorus had a visual where she held Yuu in those puppet strings. Why do I bring this up? BECAUSE IT MIGHT BE MENTAL ILLNESS PERSONIFIED. Is that a stretch? Maybe. However, I'm going to pull a Matpat and go down the most obscure rabbit hole ever. Bear with me please- Recently, we have been getting a bunch, and I mean, a bunch of violent imagery with Yuu maiming the Twisted Wonderland cast and Obey Me cast (I eat that shit up). I did a little surface level digging and found that PTSD episodes can heighten your anger, give intrusive thoughts, negatively changing your mood and thoughts, and having trouble sleeping. What do we see in the Hurt video? ALL. OF. THE. ABOVE. Of course, those traits can easily be placed into other disorders, and the last thing I want is to make the claim that PTSD is just this and is only anger. That's not correct at all. PTSD has such nuance and complexity that will impact any poor soul who unfortunately has it. I'm just connecting the two for a silly goofy analysis. Going a little off topic here, but that single frame of the Neon Demon M!Yuu is MASSIVE. It is actually what my entire argument hinges on. It gives me the impression that the mental illness is common within the family. I'm not sure if it's hereditary like how some forms of depression are, but I'm just putting it out there incase anyone wants to make a point out of it. But anywho, who is it committing arson? NONE OTHER THAN NEON DEMON M!Yuu. I think the Neon Demons are mental illness, but we will go deeper into that later. Now, while I'm not sure if this fire imagery is specific to this video, but knowing your brother killed -see the Nintendo 64 video- with fire is scary. Your father being a presumable abusive parent -see the Ryan Reynolds audio video where NB!Yuu gets their ears pierced- is scary, traumatic maybe. Being kidnapped -I will die on this hill. MC was kidnapped to Devildom the first time- and constantly having your life threatened and endangered by the wills of ACTUAL DEMONS? That's definitely going to do wonders for your sanity. Having your horns ripped out? Traumatic. The people who claimed to love you betraying you? That's pretty hurtful. The constant reminder of those who hurt you being permanently stuck on your body is awful. Being transported into an entirely different world where your livelihood is in the hands of a greedy birdbrain? I'd say that's not great for your mental health. Fighting 7 overblots where you got the pleasure of playing therapist AGAIN? Wouldn't that spark up some reaction from you? You get my point. Yuu has all the reasons to have PTSD. I think that she's going through an episode, and it's getting worse. For my next point to make sense, I have to clarify why I think the Neon Demons are her intrusive thoughts and mental illness personified. They show up whenever she's going through it, and I mean it. I'm too lazy to actually cite my sources this time, but the ones I think of off the top of my head are Psycho, Hurt, You'll never listen, and this one. They are never good. They are always depicted with violence and manipulation. In the Psycho video, it is extremely clear. Weapons, puppet strings, and the intent to manipulate Yuu into giving in. Giving into her urges and hurting everyone. Intrusive thoughts are urges. When you have intrusive thoughts, how many are violent or aggressive? Like in Kallmekris's skit on the matter, how many times are there that you think to yourself "Shove that cake down their throat and stab them with a fork."? I can't really speak from experience. I don't have many intrusive thoughts at all. But from what I've seen, they aren't pleasant. The Neon Demons are egging her on, telling Yuu to just do it. To maim and kill and avenge. I think it might work in the end. In the Intermission, we see the amount of Neon Demons increase. One by one. The thoughts are increasing, and so is the urge. We see how the part where Yuu chokes something went from the Neon Demons, to herself. The Neon Demons are influencing her, corrupting her, and she's slowly going insane. One part of her wants to just live life normally, and the other wants to see their blood on her hands. ••••••••••••• I'm not reading over this =D. So if I made any mistakes, please tell me.
