This is what schools are supposed to be: Good old-fashioned simple animations with commentaries crystal clearly breaking down complex concepts and emulating them into real-world practices. No bs, just what it is, how it works, and what it brings about. I dont mind writing essays, but I do mind writing essays for professors to assess who cant clarify the simple difference between Ipv4 vs Ipv6. Boy i was 5mins in the lecture and started googling and got everything I needed from this channel...
Most people have to use 2 sometimes even 3 4 or 5 sources to study for each IT cert they get. This is cause not everyone explains stuff in a way you understand. So each source might only explain some of it in a way you understand. That's why to learn it all for a cert people use many sources. If it was so easy for everyone to understand instantly then IT people wouldnt get paid well if just anyone could learn it without almost no struggle or effort.
I am now almost at the end of my Study as an it technician, I must honestly say that this guy is simply the best at explaining things to beginners, there is no one better. He explains everything as simply and clearly as possible so that even beginners are not confused. Sometimes I have the feeling with him that my grandma who has nothing to do with it could understand him. Keep up your great job!
I teach IT at the high school level. Your videos are one of my greatest resources. Our students take the CompTIA IT Fundamentals exam their first year and the Microsoft Networking Fundamentals their second year. I can not thank you enough for your help.
Two useless Certs: IT Fundamentals (is it still around?) and Microsoft Networking Fundamentals (never even heard of it). High school students should be studying something like CompTIA A+ or Cisco Academy CCNA modules (full CCNA might be tough for HS kids). Agree that these videos are a wonderful resource as are Professor Messer (sp?)
This video is amazing!! During my Network + studies, they talk a lot about NOT using Demilitary zones on corporate networks and i don't understand why?? This video explains it's uses and why it's beneficial. Also, NOBODY has every explained(except this video, smiles) how the DMZ is utilized in a home router setup. The XBOX example is very pertinant and is a great example of how to use that feature at home.
I started following your videos a few weeks ago. Even if I don't speak english very well but I can understand your tutorials and it helps me a lot. Respect and Thank you
Those who like to play fighting games on PS4 or 5, I used to struggle to find opponents but when I put my Playstation in the DMZ on my router, I get matches instantly. It's a game changer. My main game is Tekken 7 and this helped a lot. No more waiting 5 minutes for a match.
I've been watching A+ videos to study and DMZs popped up and nobody explained it well, but this video is incredible! you actually explained it perfectly, thank you
Wow, so simple, super informative at the same time, usually I don't bother to comment anywhere, but today I just reached the point where I felt the need to do so, I'm really enjoying all your videos, and I think you are the best learning source on the globe , thanks for your valuable contribution and the priceless effort. keep up the good work ❤️
Hands down one of the best presentation I have ever seen. I've been in school for 5 years haven't came close to this great of a video like this. Animation was on point, Summarizing on point, and give me extra content such as connect it to gaming console. I'm actually going to try this out. Thank you a million, you've help me tremendously, sir. Happy holidays, and New Year. :)
I highly recommed this outstanding video to everyone who is familiar with networks, since i bet that 99% of them including me won't know the DMZ term in router 😁
And now, I know what DMZ means as it pertains to our network at work. I've just been nodding my head when it's been discussed and figured I would learn at some point. Today was that day.
Another way to visualize a DMZ is to think about a fast food restaurant. The DMZ is the area where customers can come and order food, but they do not have access to the back rooms where management sits. The first firewall to access the DMZ would be the door to get into the restaurant and the second firewall would be the door to get to the area where the management sits.
Nice! Been switching my brother over to 5 GHz on our secondary router Sunday and noticed this option. Was wondering what that was (besides parent's initials!) Decided to look it up later and was surprised to find it in my feed yesterday from you! Caught me off guard! Didn't even have to search for it! This amazing timing tends to happen a lot! Especially with TechQuickie! Nice job, really helped! Saved me time too!
This is the 2nd video of yours I have watched, and I am very impressed! You explain things in a very clear and understanding way with a very good visual video along with it. And you explain at a speed that I can keep up with. I've tried watching other videos and I usually end up just as confused as when I started. Thank you for your help!!
Great video, especially the graphics. I can't help thinking of something I was taught in school; "a picture says more than a thousand words", especially on complex subjects.
Your vids are the absolute best on the subject matter you cover. Concise, well presented and very useful in helping me understand these concepts and topics. Thank you!!!
I used dmz on my ps4 for long time but never truly knew the reason for the settings, your videos explaining things that children can understand it. Thanks and subscribed.
The security professionals I know scoff at the term "DMZ" to describe any configuration other than the two-firewall arrangement starting at 3:25. An aspect of operating a DMZ that you didn't mention is that each system running in the DMZ should run an image copied from a server in the protected area, and that image should have strong reference hash associated with it. A monitor should recompute the hash for each system periodically and compare it with its reference hash. Any malware that might find its way into the DMZ will be detected by the monitor, and can be immediately replaced by its reference image in the protected area. As more people work from home in the post-pandemic era, the demand for increased security will escalate. Many or most employers require their home workers to use an employer-provided system for company work. That system should NEVER be on the same private network as the other devices in the home - especially if any of those devices is accessible from outside. The proper configuration of a home network might be a good candidate for its own video. The security professionals I work with recommend one firewall at the connection to the outside, and another firewall for the devices from each employer (a home with two remote workers would therefore have at least three firewalls). The result is a private network segment for each employer, with shared resources on another private network. Any cloud-facing device is configured in the (real) DMZ.
I was wondering when you were going to add the second firewall in front of the web and email servers. Then bam you put it in, good job and a great video for those just starting out in networking. Thumbs up.
The parts with soldiers are not in the DMZ. The DMZ runs right through the middle, and aside from some special events any soldier from either side stepping into the DMZ would be committing an act of war.
A very good explanation! What i dont understand is what you mean by "inside" and "outside" the firewall. Most network firewalls have multiple legs/interfaces you can configure into security zones of different levels, so that you can create a zone for the dmz in your terms "inside" the firewall, without it being on the same zone or even subnet as the rest of your lan. If you are setting up a dmz with your topologi using only one firewall you will not have any control of the network activity on your dmz, as you have your dmz "outside" the firewall. I belive that the dmz should have some sort of security. Not trying to be a smarty, just trying to educate myself and others. I think your videos are really good!
You're saving my bacon, seriously. I've had some pretty trash explanations in my courses. This is much simpler, clear. Thank you! Is there a way I can support you? I think your content is more than worth it.
Hi.. All the videos are beautifully explained, it's just Wow.. Very easy to understand, no confusions, very neat and clear. I suggest is, please also upload a animated video for computer booting process, as it is a major question asked in interview.
I was actually taught to use two routers. The first router is the frontline firewall. This router (port 1) is connected to the WAN input of the second router. (disable wireless feature if it has it) Then a computer is connected to (port 2) of that router, set to always on and with random files that look like they mean something, if possible include malware. :-) This computer is called a "honey pot" and should be set on the first router as the DMZ host...Then router #2 is the one that supports your home network via LAN cables and or secure wireless. Now they have to fight to get past the first firewall and if they do they find the honey pot which is a deterrent from any additional searching. If they do, then they have to get through a second firewall to get to the internal network. Make sure all the firmware on the routers have the latest updates.
Yes now I can connect from work to my computer at home by changing my Router, Thank you How about a Video on Subnet Masking would be very much appreciated. Great job keep them coming.
Awesome video i had issues with my xbox being on a strict nat type but thanks to dmz my ports are all open and my nat type stays on open all the time 👍🏻
An important thing to do with the firewalls, is to use different settings and if possible, use a different brand of firewall for the DMZ. This prevents hackers from bypassing 2 firewalls with 1 method.

In a corporate environment it is important to prevent unauthorized access to data storage servers. It is those servers you do not put in the DMZ
@@stephenhunter70 Well in a corporate environment, what devices are you allowed to put in a DMZ? What devices have you seen placed there? Thanks.
In a corporate environment you are allowed to put whatever your client has authorized to be put there. The real question is what would I put there!
Kenneth White some put their Webserver, mailserver or cloud storageserver there. Just as examples.
How are his explanations so easy and crisp! He even put in a explanation and quick guide for a home DMZ! You are just amazing!
whenever im stuck on a concept, i come to your videos. Thanks
That home router animation was so captivating!
Exactly my thought
