Is a firewall a different networking device or just a virtually installed with OS? This doubt is because you said some computers have pre installed firewalls.

My understanding after watching this video is very vivid. The simple way I understood and will teach others in the future is that our network is like our house. Network based firewall is the main gate and host-based firewall is the door of room. Former protects the whole house and later protects the specific room. Both are needed to be safe from intruders.

Years ago I worked for a large government agency that dealt with incredible amounts of sensitive information. We created, accessed, and viewed info that impacted potentially millions of people every year. After a 6 month background investigation I was offered the job and yet somehow during my first week of training they never even mentioned firewalls. Given everything we did on a daily basis and the amount of critical data we possessed (seriously), I’m certain they must’ve had one…. But we never heard about it. Thank you for these videos. I’ve learned so much.
