In this Broadcast Award-winning, BAFTA and Emmy Award-nominated entertainment show, Taskmaster tyrant Greg Davies (Man Down, Cuckoo), with the help of his loyal assistant Alex Horne (The Horne Section and the show’s creator), sets out to test the wiles, wit and wisdom of five hyper-competitive comedians.
Comedians that have risked life, limb, and dignity in the hope of making the Taskmaster proud so far include: Frank Skinner (The Frank Skinner Show), Mel Giedroyc (The Great British Bake Off), Romesh Ranganathan (Asian Provocateur), Hugh Dennis (Outnumbered), Sally Phillips (Bridget Jones’ Diary), Rose Matafeo (Edinburgh Comedy Award Winner 2018), and Russell Howard (The Russell Howard Hour). Unaware of what awaits them in each wax-sealed envelope, only one competitor can become the victorious owner of His Royal Task-ness’ golden head and be crowned the next Taskmaster Champion.

Just observing the taskmaster portrait is a Taskonbury line up poster: Nell Diamond, The Clump Stumps, Rosalind, Diverse Stripes, The Ollies, Caravanimals, Bosh and Products of Conception.
The details the production crew put in are simply admirable.

I can hear Jenny speaking all day long. She's such a delight!
She's like several others on this show for me. Before I either didn't like or didn't care one way or the other about them. Then they come on the show and they're excellent.

@@colindavid2078 For me, that's easily Katherine Ryan by a very long way. She's the only contestant who I don't enjoy rewatching in clips.

@@Elwaves2925 it looked like there could have been another person on the chair behind Alex under the blanket… I kept seeing legs and feet…. Although probably my imagination
@@lorihopkins6328 I don't see it myself, the blanket is too flat for them to be in the chair and the chair is against the radiator, so they can't be behind it. I can kinda see where you get the feet idea from though, because of how the blanket is scrunched up.
After the first interview I did wonder if the person would move to the chair at some point but it seems they're staying put.

Jenny Eclair was the one only one of the lineup I was 100% unaware of when first announced, and I adore her. She's like a Jo Brand but who actually wants to be there

Jenny's from Jo's era of stand-up. There was a time on telly in the 90s when if it wasn't Jo getting booked for an appearance, it was Jenny.
Jo Brand grew on me over time. When she lights up, well, I think it's worth waiting for
I see the person behind the sofa but it also really looks like someone is in that chair under the blanket. The way it is draped at the bottom looks like it’s covering feet, and the pillow helps hide the shape. I’m hoping more and more people are hiding for future interviews!
Contestant interviews never fail to make me smile
Jenny is my favorite contestant out of all series. She has strong people skills and is very humble about herself.
Interesting how Jenny is seemingly the only person here who actually seemed to pay some attention to her surroundings. Such a good cast this series, definitely one I'll have to come back to.
The fact she named her person AND someone else I love makes me love her. Two of my favourites. And the one she almost she went with was definitely inspired by the 60s aesthetic.
Who would like to see David Correos in the background disguised as a lamp, instead of the sofa guy? :D

I didn't know anything about her before the show but she is my favourite already. I watched her stand-up clips on youtube too she is Mother.

Not sure if the contestants really don't notice the person beside the couch or if they tune them out since they're used to the camera crew on set.
No cuppa but we had definite signs of movement. The intrigue continues.

My thinking is it's the person controlling the camera on the table.

It's taken me until now to realize, but Alex is just pulling a quick one on the contestants. Usually the point would be for such a game to gave him guess the person based on the answers to the twenty questions... but asking about the identity of the actual person is an obvious no-go for that kind of game. Yet the way he ends his questions session (19 is 'Is your person X', and 20 is 'Who is your person') makes contestants think he has made his final determination so they'll answer. All the other weird questions inbetween just distract the crap out of the contestants for them to be thrown off balance on the concept of the game itself. Alex being so low-key victorious about his guess by displaying the task reinforces this for me: if this was a studio task, I imagine there to be banter about everyone just letting him win.
I'm not sure if I've seen all the videos of this series, but I really hope one of the contestants is going to be like 'I am not telling you' at the final question, or at the very least answer in a round-about way ('my hero', 'a very handsome man', etc.) to get one over on Alex. xD

The questions about the objects out of view influence the contestant to look around behind them after the interview is over and not in the direction of the hidden person.
They're only allowed to look at Alex though.

Who is behind the couch?
I know I can't prove it but I did manage to guess Jenny's person as soon as Alex asked about the magic tricks.
I originally thought Elvis, but guessed Bowie when she said “this person creates magic”. The suggestive environmental influences and her comment about great hair also narrow it down.
According to Wikipedia, Jenny's real name is Jenny Hargreaves. It's quite common for comedians to change their stage name to something more funny or memorable. Some did it for Equity reasons too of course.

When they pick a feature they don't know what it's for.

This is better. First one that was suggested to me was the other version I didn't realise existed. I was wondering why it was on Alex the whole time until I saw a comment about rotating then thought it was weird it didnt auto rotate like the others

There's crew in random places constantly while they film, no idea why they'd suddenly question the Andy (probably) hiding in a 360° shot
At this point they had filmed all their team and not-in-studio tasks, plus been getting their prize tasks ready.
(And, I'm assuming, they were interviewed once they were back to film the studio episodes.)
I doubt anything in that house seems strange now.

Two episodes in, and watching Alex and Greg juggle gender-neutral terms, when talking about Mae, has become an enjoyable task, all of its own. So far, series 15 has been more edgy, but equally funny.

Not totally sure what you mean. Neither of them have so much as hesitated (that I've noticed) over anyone's pronouns.

@@dearvictoria4716 Alex is the main one, with little skits on using 'they' rather than her (both episodes). Neither are poking fun, it's simply the linguistic gymnastics involved when referring to Mae and not using 'her'.

So you're dripfeed releasing these whilst Channel 4 (amongst others) Are uploading actual fragments of this series on here as well?
The fact that they’re now constantly praising May in the individual interviews and on the podcast is just cementing that they’re going to be boringly competent throughout the whole series.
Jenny, the 1st contestant bored me to tears & annoyed me to distraction! Yes, I'm perfectly horrid for saying this but it's true.
Fairly uninspiring series so far. Hopefully improves.
