Thanks for checking out the A350! I hope you enjoyed it as much as myself!
For some contrast, here's my first Japan Airlines experience:

Great trip report! It's amazing that you could fly on a wide-body on a short flight. A350 is definitely an excellent aircraft to fly on

domestic wide bodies are frequently used with ANA and JAL. Great way to experience a variety of aircrafts!

I fly JAL domestics a lot and the inflight service (free drinks) is the same in both J and economy where you also get free wifi.

Great that they have large planes for domestic flights (I have seen that ANA also has B777, B787). How is the weather in October? I ask you why I saw the rain and it is the date we would like to travel in the future.
Separate topic, how beautiful the views of Fukuoka. Very nice video editing and good tips to travel later. Cheers, Andrew!

October is fantastic time to visit Japan. Depending on the year, there could be a typhoon...this year there was not so many. Generally, weather in October is nice and the summer heat has passed.
Fukuoka is indeed a wonderful part of Japan to visit. This was my first time in over 3 years.
      Thanks Ariel!

How early can you check in the flight at the airport to score the upgrade? What is the process for it?

I purchased this at the time of booking, not at the airport. Last year JAL did an overhaul of their pricing scheme. To upgrade, you'll have to check the ticket you bought. Some are upgradeable, some are not.
You don't really "check in" in the traditional sense for Japan domestic flights. Upgrades (if possible) can be done online. It's best to check the JAL website for up to date information.

hi can you use the sakura lounge if you book the j class?

Good question. Unfortunately no. The benefits of a j class ticket is the larger seat and some extra milage - should you collect them.

Late comment, but this isn't 280 tonnes. It's only 217 tonnes (one of the lowest MTOWs of the A350-900), because it's only used on domestic flights.

Generally it must be called premium economy. All services including seat design are based on premium economy
