? What does Hawkgirl have to do with this? OH, it's because it's a cheap gender swap intrinsicly tied to the original, cheap appropriation, because USA with no culture wanted a whiff of historicism in their cartoons.
He really did. Aldis is a really good actor. He played the role well and did not over shadow his co actors.I first saw him on Supernatural. Dude straight stole the show. He is definitely under-rated. Hopefully this opens up his career to bigger better roles. I think he would be a great Blade! Marvel missed a big opportunity there...
Of course he did ur right they couldn't of gotten a better actor to play em What a great job no one could of done it better Since no one had ever played em before 😏😉✌️
I believe Nth metal is also immune to magic. Also, read Hawkman by Robert Venditti. Surprise that wasn't mentioned. A very underrated great read around the Dark Knights Metal era.
Yes, I am also surprised that he did not mention that. That comic also simplified Hawkman's origin in a cohesive way by combining the previous ones, while adding more to it. Also, not important, that was the first comic I read about Hawkman, and it made me like the character quite a lot (I did like the character before, but I didn't know a lot about him before reading that run).
@@wayneigoe6722 I also thought the Legends of Tomorrow Hawkman looked really cool. With that being said, I think Hawkman looks Bad Ass in Black Adam. I’m even more excited to see Hawkman, Atom-Smasher, and Dr Fate than I am Black Adam. I seriously hope Black Adam is good and that it does well. We need more well made DCEU films.
Back in the fifties and early sixties there were a lot of origin stories. The hawkman I remember was an alien policeman who came to earth with his wife to study earth law enforcement. He's parked their space ship in earth orbit and they both wear an anti grav. belt that allow their artificial wings to fly them around. Don't remember anything about nth metal but I simply may not remember it after all these years. So much has changed over the years with most comics I recall. I had a superman that showed him arriving on earth and when he was grown for his glasses he found two jagged pieces of his ships windshield that his bulky glass frames hide the irregularities but the krypton glass allows his heat vision to pass through the glasses without melting them. His suit was knitted from his baby blankets he came to earth in and it was his toddler play suit that stretched as he grew, and it has a pouch in the cape to keep his earth clothes in. Batman was not a nice guy but the bat cave always stole the comics as the best part of the story. So many great comics back then. I made the walk to the drug store every sat. to check out the new comics. There would be superman, green lantern, flash, wonder woman, batman, aquaman, my personal favorite (metal men). I never realized how much the stories had changed over the years. I was struck by the fact that kryptonite now has different effects from what it had when I was a kid. A piece of red kryptonite could only affect superman one time.
@mtmta2009 well I would say he's better than superman and even batman. Superman wearing blue yellow and red suit who can fly? Batman in a Halloween costume throws shit.
Hawkman is one of DCs most underrated and underepricated characters. He's so interesting and cool and badass he deserves more attention and respect Justice League unlimited had the ONLY simplified version of Hawkmans Origin.
@@newt2120 Lame please hawkmans backstory may be a bit confusing but it's also interesting. Flying isn't his only ability he is super strong and fast enough to catch bullets. He has a healing factor and unlike other heroes hawkman isn't scared to go for the kill.
I've always found Hawkgirl more interesting. She was written so well in the Justice League cartoon and wish we saw something similar to that version in the comics more often
Me too. The Justice League cartoon and the first Injustice game made me far more interested in Hawkgirl than Hawkman. But like Hawkman, Hawkgirl has a confusing identity that depends on who's doing the writing. Because of the cartoon, I prefer the Shayera Hol. But the comics also have Kendra Saunders.
Of course she is more interesting, she is a main character, of a well written show. If hawkman was given that type of attention in that show, you would find him more interesting than hawkgirl
10:29 His vision also enables him to notice something vibrating at the point where they're invisible, such as when he spotted Wally West spying on a conversation he and others were in during the identity crisis miniseries.

Geoff Johns had an incredible run with Hawkman with the Endless Flight series. An origin like that made Black Adman a natural enemy, and something they should've capitalized on many years ago. Unfortunately, comic books happen, and heroes and journeys get left behind. He and Hawkgirl won't ever get the props they deserve, but its nice to see youtube coming together on this one.
What I love about these characters getting the big screen treatment and Variant being a RUclips channel is that you actually can get info on lesser spoken of characters.
Once upon a time, Geoff Johns cleaned up his whole origin, excellently. Great review, a little fast paced, I’d like to soak in all the info and images at a slower pace. Some of this I knew, a lot of this I did not know, so good for me to get educated here.
After seeing this video, it makes me can't wait to see the Black Adam movie and hope one day, Hawkman will get a solo self-titled movie that explores more of the Thanagarian history.
Aldis Hodge was Amazing 🏆 in his role as Hawk Man. They picked the Best Actor to play this part. Hawk Man said to his team quote...." We're the Anvil you're the Hammer ⚒️ you're ready"!!!
Normally, I'm against race swapping but with Hawkman I'm cool with it because his unique situation allows for it. It's the same reason I was cool with Anthony Mackie playing Kovacs in Altered Carbon season 2.
My introduction to Hawkman was through the Kenner Hawkman figure with clipping talons thing mounted with his breastplate. That was a great sculpt for a mass market toy.
Hawkman is one of my all time favourite characters. I loved the Hawkworld run back in the day and remember the Secret Origins retelling of Hawkman along with Power Girl when they connected their origins.
They brought that Batmobile to my town's mall when I was around 6-7 years old in the 90's... I asked my mom, "WHAT is THAT?!" 🤔 "THAT is THE Bat-Mobile!" He was the best part of Black Adam.
The Rock was old and washed

I like the one where he's just a reincarnated ancient Egyptian prince. It's simple and straight to the point.
Does that include the alien part or is the alien part the complicated one?
Exactly. Plus, the base Justice League lineup already has _two_ alien cops, so we don’t really need any more.
