There's an old well marked on old maps on the hillside between merthyr tydfil and aberdare in south wales this well which is now lost in vegetation and undergrowth is called ffynon Lazarus. (Lazurus well)
Yes it was definitely having some sort of work done, you used to be able to just walk in and look around but last time I went passed it was all fenced off not sure what was going on mind

Maybe they're looking for a tunnel that leads to the cave, or simply 'renovating' any last remains of the pre-norman British Castle. Then it would just be a Norman castle
