Hey guys!
Back with another World Record - this time it's the GDI Croatia mission on Hard mode (100%).
This one was a real challenge, and the longest speedrun I've done to date, at 7 minutes and 50 seconds. The run required me to concentrate for long periods of time, which for me to date was like doing two intense speedruns back-to-back, with a small break in the middle.
Managing the base defenses and engineers at the same time was the main challenge; the engineers can be killed so quickly at the top, and the base defenses don't fire at the rocket squads at their full range.
After the top base is taken, the mission is more-or-less a cakewalk, once you anticipate all of the remaining factors. I wanted to utilise the Black Hand to clear the city, but couldn't get them over the bridges, so I airlifted one to the convoy spawn. I felt that this was a nice - though expensive - touch. Then you simply need to micro killing the southern base and clearing the city, whilst destroying the air base.
I hope you all enjoy this one - it was a long time in the making!

It was definitely GDI's most difficult task. When I first played the episode it felt so scary, NOD's units were coming from everywhere. I gave it to my brother to pass the section and he passed the section. I had great respect for my brother. I respect you too. Greetings from Turkey🇹🇷
Я в лёгкую прошел миссию когда понял что танки можно направлять к заводу и таким образом чинить их. Таким образом я сохранил значительную часть юнитов для защиты базы , съэкономить средства для производства и смог отстроиться и нарастить производственную мощь для производства техники , которая будет участвовать в нападении на вражеские базы. Кстати, не с первого раза догадался до этого.

I wonder if it would be slightly easier if the mf turrets would automatically hit the rocket troops instead of having to manually click them lol
@@GrantedBunion Yeah, the ones I had to click were slightly out of the range of them. For whatever reason you have to do it manually. It's actually one of the main reasons for Secondary Objective failure for this one!

I.... Never once thought to redeploy the MCV near the cliff or to sell the walls. Lol....
I may have stolen the MCV redeploy from someone else... :P

Yeah! They can't compete with that early column of GDI armour and rocket squads, especially as they split their forces! :)

Yeah, it was such a pain to keep doing it though! I must have played the mission 50 times before I finished this run!
@@s1nnur_fast question about the air base, why didn't you build a flame tank there? It may have saved you some time, also the infintry base may not need the venoms just more flame tanks, I know the fanatics can kill a flame tank really fast but for the cost of the air base and those venoms you would probably have a lot of flame tanks to spare, also building the factories in your starter base may help, essentially just ideas of how you could save a bit more time

When I look back at my older speedruns I can see a big change in how I handle them. When looking at a run like this now, I'd consider all of the best options in respect of the speed. I mix units more comfortably now too, rather than just spamming. I guess back then I was new to speedrunning.
The Venoms are great with the Laser Capacitor upgrade .The Scorpian Tanks are great upgraded too - it changes the type of damage that they do, making them viable for destroying buildings. I wouldn't want to use vanilla Flame Tanks against that Nod spam tbh. The Venoms just melt them away whereas the Flame Tanks are slow and need to direct the nozzle. Any Flame Tanks are grounded too, making them useless for the last base.
(I do actually send the Venoms to the last base, but most people don't realise that. I think it's off camera. They're all destroyed.)
The base defenses include anti-air and anti-infantry, as well as Stealth Tanks. They also have Stealth Bombers and Venoms. You need to stop any Venoms from attacking the GDI MCV for the Secondary Objective, which your own Venoms and your Pitbulls can handle.
If I'd change anything it would be pumping out some Flame Tanks for the last base though, yes!
Very creative.. I finished this mission with loads of tanks.. But never thought of stealing nod base

I never, ever thought to sell the walls. Didn't even know you could do that, since you can't build them.
Yeah, $50 a wall is pretty good value too.

Very well thought out and executed. It had occured to me to simply capture the enemy base, but I did not know you can sell the base walls. I thought walls were immune from selling.
Just shows that Nod units are superior in urban combat. That black hand unit you sent to the city was to counter the reinforcements from off map was very clever. It is such bullshit design to have rocket militants spawn everywhere and occupy the buildings. It's doubly damning when you don't have access to grenadiers, an otherwise shit unit but that would have been really useful in this case.
I won't be playing this mission ever again though, that is for sure.
Hey, thanks! Yeah the urban combat is a pain, Nod really excel with their infantry - with it being so cheap to field them too.
I really need to update the speedrun though, as I've picked up a few tricks since then...

this is my favorite mission, it was difficult at first, but then i found the key to win, yes i guessed to capture the base from above and then captured the base from below with helicopters, wow i was so cool(thinking to myself)
In fact, I like tiberium wars and kane's wrath a lot. Because when I was a kid they were the first strategy games I played (not counting warcraft). And these are sometimes difficult and interesting missions, uh.

This is the most stressful thing i've encountered , but it was thrilling since i find it quite challenging

@@s1nnur_ Yeah in hard difficulty , instead of rushing towards the base in the northwest i smashed into the infantry based which is in the south west. But early on i used the four tall buildings until it was unusable anymore. Since the infantry base likes to use those buildings to pincer you into a choke point
@@s1nnur_ After that though , i usually take the mcv on the infantry base to sell it for extra income . And Assault the mech base which is in the northwest. and finally the easiest conquest is the aerial base which is above a cliff

I guess run needs to include all objectives since MCV is optional, also seems like having flame tank for air-base of Nod would improve it

If I were speedrunning this one again I'd probably incorporate some of the new strat.
@@s1nnur_ thank you mate, but i already beat the level. i watched your video in 0.5 speed and than did it. it worked very well. you know. i loved the first 4 titles as a kid and then never played RTS games again. a few days ago i thought i want to try one again and randomly downloaded tiberium wars, because tiberium sun was always my favourite back in the day. and man, i fell in love with the genre again^^. when i am done i want to play the age of empires 2 remaster and then generals. thanks again for the help ! :)
Oh nice! Yeah I played AoE2 and Tiberiun Sun as a kid, I have both installed but still need to play them. I might do that tonight, such great games!

When YOU are the reinforcements
Well the reinforcements needed reinforcements so we sent reinforcements to the reinforcements so they could reinforce us.
Bruh i never knew you could sell the walls for money or manual target the watch towers outside their range.
Yeah, the towers can fire just outside of the white line, but no further. Just enough to get the Rocket Squads!

Why do you need reinforcements if you could just capture a Nod base? I remember failing to rescue the reinforcements on purpose
The reinforcements are required in order to complete the Primary and Secondary objectives. They are requirements for the 100% category.
@@s1nnur_ Well I failed that primary objective on purpose because I thought they're not required since I captured a nod base.
Yeah, it's actually the only mission in there game where you can fail (it's counted as failing if you ignore it) a Primary Objective and pass the mission. Unfortunately the speedrun rules don't allow for that!
@@s1nnur_ But either way, it just defeats the purpose of reinforcements if you can just simply capture a Nod base. They should've scrap that objective. Instead, they should've replace it with "Capture a Nod Construction Yard"
On X360 it possibly could be even faster beacuse if you destory all bases then you automatically win no matter if you save convoy or not... but ofc it wouldnt be 100%.
Also i hated this mission together with Albania although both seems to be easy now... in this one i always just capture tanks base and then build NOD defences and bomb all enemies with vertigos. And before that i usually place like 6 riflemen bunkers... enemy infantry has no chance against them so you can spend power on AA and tanks defences... and by the end all these riflemens in bunkers will have max level... only problem are damn venoms that sometimes can easily destory bunkers if that one AA turret is off.
Yeah, you can do the same on PC, though yes, it wouldn't count for the category. Always hated it too, though I guess we were noobs back then! 😁

Don't forget the crates as well! You can build harvesters from the outset then and have a really tasty income. ;)

You don't actually need to send reinforcement. If you eliminate all 3 bases, you can still complete the mission. Better to have the 2 nod war factory on the high ground spamming buggies and flame tanks
Yeah, the destruction of the last base was a little slow. Definitely could be improved.
I actually have to escort the MCV and achieve the Secondary Objective to be successful in the Speedrun though! :)
It's a 100% run.
Tried playing this game on pc and it is a hell of a lot harder than on my xbox cant expand your base with power plants which i get for doing pvp but the story mode doesnt make sense then nods infantry units are just too op mamouth tanks cant cope against them i had sucjh a shock when i played it on pc i think i got to sarajevo mission and gave up as i struggled to complete it and get the ribbon. I thought berne was hard with the three scrin bases on xbox as there ships can shoot your base from across the map it feels so idk if i could do it on pc X
Yeah, they made changes to the game for online play and it affected the campaigns. Some of the balancing is considered bad now. Berne can be hellish. Remember to pick up as much of that Tiberium as you can!
how is there not a single maxrank stealth tank at the airbase?are they spawned on a timer?
There were Stealth Tanks there, unranked. Apparently the Armor base makes them as well but that's too late for the run. I can't say I've ever seen ranked units in this mission.
Probably be faster if you pulled your venoms in to help the scorpions at the end
I think I did, but there are Stealth Tanks and Base Defenses that make short work of them.
Hahaha I accualy done that mission exactly same way. I think that was only way to finish it on higher difficulty modes.😅
