- Early morning POV response to station for MVC.
Equipment installed
Lights: 6x Feniex T6, 2x Whelen 600, 3x Whelen Dual Avenger, 1x Custom Interior Lightbar, 2x Whelen 500, 1x 911ep TD/WL 36, 6x Feniex Cannon
Sirens: 2x Feniex Storm 100w units operated independently, 1x Federal Sign & Signal model 28
Well the people at the call are dead now barley even passing traffic
Ty Squad please explain why I should put additional innocent lives at risk by flying through traffic? Driving normally to the station usually took 7-10 minutes if I caught every red light and there was a lot of traffic. Here I made it to the station in just under 4 minutes by barely exceeding the posted limit. Also, the slower speed gives drivers ahead of me plenty of time to hear, see, and react properly to me.
foxtrot5elb 2 cars moved for you at the beginning of the video after the yellow light. You had a clear road for about 2 miles after the light. Really traffic wasn't that bad your way, looks pretty basic you had one wave of medium traffic. Could of gotten there faster. Luckily you live right down the road. If you lived 10 minutes away time and speed would matter a lot more though.
Obviously you don't know much about safely responding to a call, Ty...
Ty Squad. Well fuck. No one would bother pulling over and actually stopping
I'm only allowed blue courtesy lights. I only pass when people yield. Until they move I'll go faster to pass and then ow down once passed them.
your sirens make me happy
Paul Atherton Thanks, I'm glad you like them.
+foxtrot5elb what kind of lights do you run on your Silverado
+Dennis Throckmorton also listed in the description
Damn that Q siren really gets people to pull over
Ahhh the good days, when i could hear you responding from my house. Miss you buddy!
Miss all you guys, hopefully I'll be back in the area one day. If you've still got my contact info, it hasn't changed. Sadly I lost all my data
You have now inspired me to hook up a Q on my vehicle
Your sirens... Your sirens are amazing.
foxtrot5elb Don't worry about the people calling you a wacker, its not their vehicle so they have no say in weather or not they like 3 sirens or not. I think the Q sounding siren is badass, there is not many videos of people with that siren.
I love the federal q.I think its a great touch to the video
At first I was... Yawn.... Then you kicked in that "Q" and I fell in love... lol... GREAT job on siren control, I would like to see your lights in action...
Thanks. there are a few videos on my page showing the lights in action. One day I'd love to somehow manage to get an "action shot" of me responding from outside the truck.
Jeff Turner i thought the same thing. i was like oh. then he kicked in the q and i was in love lol
3 sirens? WTH?
Nice pov rig. Love it.
wow now those are some serious sirens!
I'm looking at buying into the Fenix system but I'm not a big fan of their siren tones...what Federal Signal do you have for wail, yelp, etc? And does it work in the same manner as the Storm Pro as far as installation? Thanks!
The electric siren you hear in the video are two 100w Feniex Storm sirens each pushing a 100w SVP speaker. Those sirens are controlled by the Feniex 4200 system. The Federal Signal (technically Federal Sign & Signal Co.) is the model 28 and is the mechanical siren.
Gotcha. Thanks!
What siren amp or siren amps r u running what brand and or model also is the q mechanical or from one of the amps. Very nice setup keep em coming
I'm currently running 2 individual Feniex Storm 100 amp sirens plus a mechanical Federal Signal Model 28.
Dont the newer storm models offer an eq tone
dan dun they do, but I don't have any hands on experience with the new ones yet.
foxtrot5elb That Model 28 sounds great! I'm glad to see someone using an older mechanical siren.
chrisv4096 Thanks! It really clears traffic better than just an electric siren. Now that I've put a mechanical on my POV I doubt I'd ever go back to straight "normal" sirens.
What state was that vid in at my fd we can’t use sirens on are pov :(
What siren tone are those? My Typhoon does not seem to have them. And I know the other is a Federal signal 28 which a whole different siren. I mean for your duel Storm Units.
Chris Labrador as far as I remember they are the standard Wail, Yelp, and Phaser from the Storm Amplifier.
foxtrot5elb Thanks. Maybe the storm Pro is what I am looking for. Well lucky for me I got many POV! 😂😂😂😂
Chris Labrador if I remember correctly, the typhoons and storm had different tones
Did you change anything to your vehicles electrical system? Battery, alternator etc.. Where did you get the solenoid?
I did upgrade my alternator and put in a better battery. I use a 175 Amp alternator and an Optima Yellow Top battery. The Solenoid was purchased from my local NAPA I think.
I am sooooo jealous of you fire fighters in the states we don't have Federal Q sirens over here in New Zealand I really wish we did
We have nothing like the states here in nz our volunteers cant even have lights in their POV
@@guyhahn4443 yea ae tell me about it it actually kinda sucks
@@PaulieMac77 The Philippines, my home country, has the same laws too for POVs. No sirens or blinkers allowed, as per Presidential Decree 96, signed into law by the late President Ferdinand Marcos Sr. on January, 1973. If we changed it to allow blinkers and sirens for POVs, it would most certainly lead to abuse.
where is your model 28 mounted
Jack Polakiewicz it's mounted to the frame in the engine bay, kinda between the front bumper and the engine.
I'll admit I'm a bit clueless to these situations, but why respond to the station instead of the accident scene?
Edward Draper different departments have different policies regarding where to respond. In this case the idea is to bring all available personnel to the station and staff additional trucks as needed. It also reduces vehicle clutter at a scene by bringing 3-5 guys in on a truck instead of having 3-5 extra vehicles blocking up traffic or whatever.
I love the sirens! Especially the Q siren, What department do I need to work for to be able to get this? Do you know if NC allows it?
+B Cooper I'm with a department in the general area of Charleston, SC. I prefer not to name it directly. I'm not sure but I believe sirens are not allowed for volunteers in NC.
Nice driving sir. Nice to see a volunteer fireman drive with respect, most think they have to drive balls to the wall to get there.
omg, i was just thinking if there were any pov response videos near me when the video started and then i was like ohhhh shit! i know exactly where that is! right near my house! goose creek, Sc, i realized it when you went through the intersection of highway 176 and 52.
Diggin the model 28 siren. Might I ask where you have mounted it and what stuff have you used to hook it up?
Thanks. It's bolted to the frame of the truck, inside the engine compartment. It's connected using a continuous duty solenoid rated to 100 amps and 2 AWG wire
foxtrot5elb are those sirens legal out there?
***** Yes. Remember, laws for emergency vehicle equipment vary state to state, and sometimes even by jurisdiction.
foxtrot5elb we can only run red/white leds where I'm at
foxtrot5elb that sounds like a q siren
Seen a post of yours foxtrot. I was gonna ask where you are but I recognized it as Goose Creek? What are all the regs on lights and sirens for SC? Is there a certain amount of lights required or an amount you cant go over? does it have to be 360 visible? I used to Volunteer there at Goose Creek Rural back in 2003-2004 when I was in the Marines. Me and a buddy of mine. Where you by chance there back then? I am thinking about getting back into volunteering once I decide where to buy a house:)
I was with GCRFD when this video was filmed. I've since moved out of state. SC laws set a minimum for lights and siren. I suggest checking with a department for specifics as it may have changed since I was there.
Sweet,,,, When I was there it was Chief Haines and Maibach was the Training Officer. I think I read somewhere that Maibach is the Cheif now.
+USMCKoontz sadly Chief Haines passed away. Chief Maibach took over.
CDN 0128, for some reason it won't let me reply directly to your comment but SC law says that all vehicles operating in emergency mode must do so with both lights and siren activated when in motion. I'm paraphrasing a bit, but the only exception I recall are specific circumstances for law enforcement which I am not.
Same in Michigan. It's a law named after a girl (can't remember her name), but something like "Jessica's law".
She was a 16 Y/O who got killed by a Firefighter driving an apparatus with lights, but no sirens.
+Better Bacon It depends on where you are. Different states have different laws.
And i thought i heard it all....now qs on povs
Wash Bay Technically it's not a Q, it's a model 28. But yes it's a mechanical siren on a POV. The most important thing is that it's 100% legal and it clears traffic better than any electric siren I've ever used.
3 sirens enough? it needs more cowbell
like the setup ive watched a couple of your vids. and your from goose creek? and to far from spartanburg.
Very nice response. Love the video! Stay safe.
Where did you get the federal q?
Also do you have a fuse inline on the 2 ga wire and if so what rating are you using in the fuse
Not a fuse, a breaker. And it's rated at 100 Amps. The siren, per FedSig pulls ~75 Amps max.
Nice siren setup
foxtrot5elb, I have some questions regarding installing a model 28. Is there somewhere I can pm or email you?
+shawn brimmer www.elightbars.org forums. my user name is foxtrot5
This is one of my favorite POV videos
Thanks! I'm pretty proud of it.
Is it just me, or why does the response time seem slow? I understand navigating through traffic maybe, but you had pretty much a clear path to the station?
Under 5 minutes from dispatch to station is a pretty good time I think. Not running code that trip can take 15 or so depending on traffic lights and actual traffic.
+foxtrot5elb Haha just watching the video made it seem slow. How fast do you normally go when responding for something like that?
+PSNholst1234 my speed varies based on several factors. In my state we are bound by "due regard" so we can exceed the posted limit if conditions permit. Generally on that road I tend to stick at or close to the posted limit due to average traffic flow and a few blind driveways along the route.
+foxtrot5elb That's interesting. I guess I'm surprised that with your area being more urban, that there IS a volunteer fire dept. why wouldn't they just hire on a station of firefighters to work full time?
+PSNholst1234 Cost benefit. Volunteers are almost always cheaper in every way.
Lol the begging with radio station talking bout rick flare was funny as hell wooooooo!!!
WOW ! very nice , 2 sirens and a Q ... yes moves traffic nice, great video stay safe out there brother....
It really does. Thanks and you stay safe too!
Q sounds great
Great video man. I've got an electric q on my pov and I use it more times in town then in the county when im clearing traffic then my wail or yelp on my siren. It works wonders at rush hour too haha.
Do you have a Q mounted on your car??
Not quite a Q, it's a Federal Signal model 28.
Makes the car still sound like a fire truck,,^^
RTobi (Rummeltobi) hhahahah awesome
Lol wakes up whole block @ 0:20
if may ask where was this filmed at what city & state?
He's in South Carolina at the time of filming.
What fire department are you part of ?
what state are you in? I love this setup!!
South Carolina, and thanks. I'm very happy with it. Clears traffic well and is flexible enough to provide adequate warning in a variety of situations.
Nice setup, wish I could have had siren when I was vol.
Keep up the videos! Subscribed!!!
What dash cam are you using?
Paul McCown Honestly, I don't know the brand. It was my regular "family" camera sitting on one of those "bendy leg tripod" things
I feel like your missing 1 thing, the air horns lol. I run a whelen dual siren, howler, Federal Signal Eq2 ( electronic siren) and Buell air horns on my Silverado.
I'd love to get a set of Grovers or something on here, but unless someone else is going to pay for it...
foxtrot5elb I have a set of Grovers on my truck for the hell of it. Had a friend who worked at a local fire apparatus business in Nebraska get me some.
Nice. If they ever come across another set in good condition for cheap, let me know!
Love the Q
What siren setup do you have.
2x Feniex Storm 100w sirens and 1x Federal Model 28 mechanical
LOL 3 sirens. I like a pwoercal lQ combo my self personally
KosukiFire I always felt like the powercall & Q combo was way overdone. Plus on longer responses I get really tired of hearing the same tone over and over again.
nice video. I like the Federal. was surprised to hear it in a pickup. and man how about all those failure to yields. some just pull to the right, yet don't even slow down or brake.
+Idaman71044 I never expect anyone to yeild. Low expectations keep me from wanting to mount a snowplow to my truck for responses!
@@foxtrot5elb I’ve got a 99 F-250 with a snow plow :D
Hey where can you get the q siren?
I'ts not a Q, it's a 28 and I actually found mine via Craigslist of all places.
very nice
+Andrew Williams Thanks!
how'd you get a q in the truck or is it supposed to sound like a q
It's a model 28. and I mounted it to the frame, and upgraded the battery and alternator.
+foxtrot5elb awesome I guess you need that to get through the traffic down there. I might see 3 or 4 cars in my 5 minute drive to our station
+Ryan Andrukaitis depending on time of day, traffic can get pretty bad. this response was moderate traffic.
+foxtrot5elb Jesus. stay safe out there brother
cam we have more people like this please? actually pulling over and not ignore them like shit man
logistic space memorial86 having 3 sirens certainly helps get their attention. Plus not driving like a maniac or tailgating actually gives people a chance to see me coming and react properly
yea but there are alot of tailgaters on my side so people barely dont do anything and act gulty when a cops around because thats the only time there pull over or something like in my area of new york
ah yes good old New York. I can't stand "courtesy light" laws either give POVs full emergency vehicle status (and mandate that anyone who responds in a POV to scene or station must have EVOC or equivalent training) or don't allow any emergency equipment at all.
the only perk about this place lol is that there barely any bad drivers such as california because everywhere else i its baiscly nascar driving till a cop shows up
@foxtrot5elb Here in Saskatchewan, Canada, we use reds and sirens for our Volunteer Firefighters' POVs. Pulling over for them is legally required. And they can drove contrary to traffic laws, just like what a fire truck does.
love the q
are you still with GSRFD?
AkSnow Man I wish I was, great department but I had to move out of the area.
+foxtrot5elb ahhh damn
wat type of siren u use
As I've replied in multiple other comments, the two electronic sirens are both Feniex Storm 100 watt units operated independently. The mechanical is a Federal Sign & Signal Corp. model 28.
Holy shit how much was the 28?
I picked it and a Q2B up off Craigslist for a total of 250. To be fair I got lucky at that price
foxtrot5elb Wow lol that’s an amazing price
I got chills. Only aloud to use blue lights here in Indiana
Glad you liked it!
What state?
+michael arscott SC
0:00-0:20 'I just got to go "woo" uncontrollably'
Out of the 300 cars he passed NO ONE managed to pull over???
what state is this???
South Carolina
foxtrot5elb ok thanks and how do I get the lights and siren put on my truck???
+Andy Elkins I did all the work myself. keep in mind, laws vary state to state. also your department may have additional requirements, check with your chain of command.
This might sound odd. But if I could take this audio, strip out the radio chatter, raido talk from the actual truck radio right when you activate the siren I would use that as a tone for my siren. That is just bad ass!
You can buy the exact same sirens. 2x Feniex Storm and 1x Federal Sign & Signal Co. Model 28
foxtrot5elb I know where to get them. I should have been more specific. I have a very small vehicle. With a very small alternator. I run a 2 fenix storms and one Federal Q Siren set up I will destroy the alternator with making it work so hard. Especially that Q Siren.
Chris Labrador ah ok that makes sense. The 28 is hard on the electronics but you just can't beat that sound!
3 sirens in 1 car COOOL!
Why is this channel dead
Awesome! I love the Q siren, i would say a stuttertone airhorn would be even cooler but then people might actually shit there pants with that plus all the sirens and lights you got now haha
where can u get that Q siren
every now and then one pops up on ebay or craigslist but they're getting harder to find and more expensive
ive got the EQ2B
zachary phillips not even close to the same thing.
What do u have
zachary phillips It's known as a Model 28
That sure looks like Red Bank Rd in Goose Creek 😎
Holy Johnny Bluelight guy
3141xxm First, I'm not a LEO so no blue for me. Second, I never understood why having adequate and functional warning equipment on a POV is considered a bad thing. If used responsibly it can save a volunteer department valuable time in staffing apparatus.
I'm busting your balls man, I've been a volunteer for 6 years myself. Where I live in NY were only allowed to have blue lights, and no personal sirens. foxtrot5elb
3141xxm I used to do EMS in NJ so I know the feeling. Never again will I try to clear traffic without having full EV status and adequate visual and audible warning.
I need a new change of underwear. That Q!!! 😍
Is that a Q2B in a Silverado? God I thought I was a whacked
HeyitsJohnJ 11 not quite a Q2B, it's the Q's little cousin the 28
I'm in love with the Q awesome job done! its really sad that these drivers today don't pull over for shit. At least karma comes back u woke them up driving down the block lmao
Put that hammer down man you got clear lanes ahead. Nice clearing those intersections though.
+Kyle Parish This video is over a year old now and was posted just a few days after the response. From memory, I believe I was traveling at ~50 mph and the limit on the roadway is 45. That time of day I was expecting more traffic as people use that roadway as a main access road to a military base in the area so I was cautious.
Just Curious. Why didn't you go to the MVA? I understand that you need to have apparatus but I also feel that depending on where you are responding from, It would be faster to go to the call with your bag and O2. Secondly, I thought there was an Armada of units behind you until I read the comments. Lastly. Great response and as for the "WACKER" Comment, It's sad to think that people still shunt us. They forget that we do this as Volunteers using our P.ersonally O.wned V.ehicles, Our fuel, Our Personal Time and Medical Supplies. Thank You for what you do. Check out "Fastest POV Response Ever". Again, Thank You. As I tell everyone..... It's not a Job, It's a Choice.
Department policy states that no one but Chief Officers may respond direct to scenes. Our district is fairly small and we ALWAYS have full staffing at station for at least one apparatus. Usually more. In my time with the department I've responded direct to scene for exactly one call. It was a Car vs Bicycle that occurred in the driveway of the apartment complex I was living in at the time. My only route to the station was blocked by the incident. We also don't run code in POVs to very many calls. Fires, we run code to unless command says otherwise. MVAs we run code until both an engine and rescue is responding. Most other calls are a "cold" response to the station to staff additional units. Additionally, not all members are authorized to run code. A member must have completed their probationary period (several certifications) before they are eligible to test for, what we call, badged firefighter. This process can be completed within about 6 months but generally takes closer to a year depending on how hard the probie is willing to work.
The q reminds me of a sireno bc it’s very similar
Not a true Q. Its baby cousin the Model 28
lil too much for a person vehicle. leave the squirrel cages for the actual trucks
Bubba Army!
Honestly everything should just go back to mechanical sirens. They move traffic better. And they made 12 volt models. Electronic sirens are too high pitch all alone.
right before he got into the highway he lights up the q god damn I remember when I was a sleeping in bed a few nights ago and my tones went off as well as seven other departments for a building fire I got into my truck and just said fuck this I light up the q and was gone
Coulda gone a little faster, lol... I drive for EMS and I don't totally fly but you can go a little more above the limit... just be alert
Hell of an intersection @ 1:25. I wouldn't want to code through that bitch daily lol
+Dave Carsley Thankfully it wasn't daily. Probably 2-3 times a week I had a call that required running hot through that intersection.
t think you need at least ONE MORE siren and some MORE Cow Bell
Very nice set up! Guess what... they can call us whatever they want but at the end of the day it's all about safety. Cars heard you coming a half mile or more away. Whacker is the dumbest term I've ever heard.
I'm glad 8m not your neighbor, that siren would be irritating, even our fire engine doesn't run siren through neighborhood just lights
Some may have to do it, as it is a legal requirement. If a fire truck got in an accident, YOU BETTER HAVE EVERYTHING ON, or the lawyer from the opposing side will barbecue your balls in court.
Could toy go any slower
You
I could have gone slower. I also could have gone faster. The dispatch information, road conditions, traffic, and other factors impacted the intensity of my response.
@@foxtrot5elb lol I was jk
@@natekling9108 wasn't sure. Some other commentor said similar things. I suspect those are the kinds of people who feel it's appropriate to dump 3 Engines and a Heavy at full speed on a stubbed toe call.
not**
talk about moving traffic
Wind down is too fast.
It could probably do with some new bearings
Hey thats cheating you got a federal in that piece XD (kidding)
+Seth Adams "If you find yourself in a fair fight, you didn't prepare well enough."
Totally asinine wacker
Might I ask, why you feel this way?
foxtrot5elb I do somewhat agree but I think safety comes first. I think he was referring to the 3 sirens. 1 and the Fed Sig 28 would be enough in my opinion but whatever gets the job done.
deekamikaze you may be right. Peraonally, though, I feel as if I allowed myself adequate warning options. The 28 isn't always necessary, nor are the two electronic sirens. I use what I need, when I need it. To be totally honest I probably overused the 28 a bit in this video since I knew it was going on youtube and was "showing off" a little.
Says the man from the Vanessa K. Free Act state. You are more likely to be the "Wacker",this person made an excellent and safe response.
Nice setup, wish I could have had siren when I was vol.
