      +flerper derper Not really. Brett Favre never helped Aaron Rodgers when Rodgers was his backup. And he kept doing the whole "I'm retiring... no wait no I'm not." at the end and A-Rod was THIS CLOSE to becoming a free agent and leaving the team. But finally the Packers said that it was enough and did not accept Brett Favre back. Best decision they ever made. They gave the kid a chance and he turned out to be the greatest QB to ever walk on a football field. And you KNOW Favre recognized that. That's why he never helped him. I can remember, as a Packers fan, my heart sinking when Packers announced that Favre was no longer their QB. I remember the terror of uncertainty. Then, I remember my joy when I saw Aaron Rodgers go to work. That man is a legend.

      I know that he has done great the first part of his career but if he doesn't keep it up or doesn't play better in the playoffs, he isn't gonna go down as the GOAT. To say that he is the GOAT already is ridiculous. Especially in light of this year. I know that one year doesn't determine the overall greatness of a player but half a career doesn't either. And if he doesn't pick up his play then he can kiss the GOAT title goodbye...
      But I am not surprised that a Packers fan would say something like that...

    2024 take from a Packers fan: Back then we were all still mad at Favre for going to the Vikings. This comment felt like a slap in the face; it felt like he was saying "if I had stayed, we would've won a SB in '08 or '09"
    But in 2024 as both had similar exits from GB; this was actually a huge compliment to Rodgers and the organization. The 2010 team's core players were there in '07. The McCarthy scheme in those years were beautiful and it "clicked" with Brett in '07 and "clicked" with Rodgers in 2009-2016. The Pack DID accept taking a step back in 2008 to propel forward. We also got Clay Matthews indirectly from the Favre trade which was an important piece of 2010. But ultimately Favre was giving a huge compliment here and not an egotistical dig which it felt like at the time

    I miss the hell out of Favre. Statistically he was the best ever. He took chances, and that is probably why he only has one ring. Love him or hate him--he was my favorite player to watch. I'd take him in a foxhole anytime over Rodgers. If you hated Favre, it was because you feared what he could do to your team at any given moment. He was a throat cutter; he won and lost with that mentality.

His single-season passer rating was above 100 only one time in his career, the '84 season when he broke all the records & took the Dolphins to the Super Bowl. Beyond that, he only topped a single-season passer rating on 90 two other times.Compare that Steve Young, who led the NFL in passer rating 6 times, topping the 100 mark 5 of them, and only finished under 90 one time his whole career as a starter.

    Skip is right here. Ted did sacrifice the 08-09 season by getting rid of Favre! Had Favre stay I think that would had a shot at the Super Bowl. Rodger as Great as he become in 2008 that was his 1st season as a starter so it easy for the lack of experience of being able to get a Super Bowl team to the Super Bowl that way. Had Favre been starting that year it would have been different.

    I say Marino because Marino never won a super bowl, yet he's widely considered one of the best quarterbacks to ever play the game. Yea. Brett could have handled it better, cause it seems like he retired after the non-pursuit of Moss. If you remember, after Moss signed with NE, day after Favre retired. There was a news article from a front office personnel that confirmed it. So Favre was rash in doing so, but to his point, TT wouldn't give him pieces. These arguments are pointed to a lot of younger people that probably just started watching football. There is no way I would compare 4 or 5 years of Aaron Rodgers to what 18 years of Bret Farve, it is not a comparison. Not only was Bret Farve consistent, he was tough. He has the record for the most starts of any QB, played through injuries.Stephen A. Smith know better than this.

    I love it that the satellite feed between Skip & Smith is a few seconds so when Skip says something that would normally provoke emotion outta Smith immediately, it doesn't happen till seconds later when the moment already passed.
    Its weird but funny

    keep in mind Fan voting didnt exist when Favre won his SB. Not that Rodgers didn't deserve it, could have argued Jennings deserved it with the game he had 2 huge TD catches, and the huge catch in the 4th QT to put the Packers in FG range..Anyways, it played a factor. Yes, Howard on special teams was huuge, but even if he doesnt score those TDs on returns, I think the Pack still win that 96' sb.

    Aaron and Brett are practically best friends. Rumour has it they were sleeping with each other the second year Aaron came to Green Bay. But Aaron went straight and Brett is mad and upset for getting dumped.
    I wish they would both come out and get married and bring equality to gay marriage and gays in professional sports. It's about time we change. We have to change. I heard Hilary Clinton is running for president. I hope she wins. She will save the USA

    HECK YES!!!. Once I graduate, I would love to work at a city like Milwaukee. Being a realist, I doubt that Green Bay will have as much job opportunities. But Milwaukee would be a 2 hours drive which isn't tough to make on Sundays. I've actually met a couple of GB fans/residents here in MD. These 2 girls who are living in MD temporarily.
    Funny story is: 1st thing she told me when I said I was from K-zoo, 'Oh GJ is from there also. I love him so much. I'm mad he's married.' lol

  • @wasad20
    @wasad20 12 лет назад

    STHU. If it wasn't for Favre, the Packers would still be blacked out everywhere in the nation except for GB. He allowed this MD Packer fan to watch the team play all these years. If you knew anything, Thompson wanted to run him out since he got there. Trading Javon, not trying to find a replacement WR, telling him he could win with a Rookie GJ, not going after Moss. Why didn't he do the same for Aaron. He should have told Aaron he could win with Driver and GJ, and not draft Jordy, Cobb, Finley.

    Ok lets try to be a bit constructive here. Yeah Fave does sound a bit bitter, but when he says surprised he didn't do it sooner Rodgers best chance of winning the SB prior to 2010 season was 2009 season Rodgers was just on fire against the Cards. Plus he seems to play better in domes, its feasible to believe they could have beat New Orleans and its hard to believe Minnesota would have beaten them a third time. What stopped them was the Packers lousy defense.

    They made the right decision in going with Rodgers. That team was not built to win the super bowl, they had injuries and their defense was terrible. Even if he had come back to green bay odds are that he would have thrown any chance at a super bowl away with a costly int just like he did in minnesota.

    I never said he was, I only mentioned that he gave Sterling one of his Superbowl rings. He played for the Broncos and the Ravens. He finished his career with one more short stint with the Broncos, I believe.

    Brett Farve was never on trail for Sexual Harrassment . Aaron Rodges has been playing at a high level for what almost 4 or 5 years, it does not want warrant him to almost 20 years that Farve put in. Stop giving these new guys respect they do not deserve yet, not to count all the games Bret Farve started consecutively, he holds the record for that, very consistent football player. Aaron Rodges has a long way to go to reach Bret Farve.

    I think if Rodgers continues to play in that way in six years (What do you like in that time, records, awesome games and returnings, 1, 2, or maybe 3, why not?, Super Bowls, SB and MVP awards, etc, etc) he easily will be better than Brett Favre, John Elway, Peyton Maning, Tom Brady, Steve Young and many other QB legends. Aaron Rodgers he has the potential and the talent and the people knows that.

    Sure it's easy to talk in hindsight. I remember Rodgers throwing a few costly ints at the end of games during that 08 season. Remember ATL, HOU, Jacksonville? Again you don't know if that team wouldn't have won the SB. Didn't the Giants have more injuries this past year, and as I recall they won. Heck we did same in '10-'11. With Moss, the offense would have been capable.

  • @stevewhite7465
    @stevewhite7465 11 лет назад

    Ahem, Favre and Sterling Sharpe never played in a Superbowl together. In fact, Shannon Sharpe gave one of his Superbowl rings to Sterling because he had never gotten one. Sterling had to retire early because of a neck injury. Too bad, because he would definitely be in the Hall Of Fame if his career hadn't been cut short.

    I'm shocked that someone is saying Brett isn't selfish. He retires, comes back, demands his starting job, doesn't get it, then eventually signs with the Vikings. Brett is my man and I miss watching him play, but to say he wasn't selfish is stupid. Aaron ran out of town? He just signed a five year contract extension and said he wants to finish his career here. Matt went and got himself a fat contract which he wasn't going to get in Green Bay. That comment is idiotic.

  • @nickwielgosz6045

    They lost 7 games by 4 or less points. If you look at '08, you'd see Rodgers was carrying them. You'd take 2-4 INT's a game? Rodgers has had one losing season, his first, while Favre had 1, with 2 even.

  • @willtyler4

    I think he knows Farve better than U. It's in his job description.
    Go back to when to when Farve tried to come back to Green Bay. His teammates moved on so quick I remember feeling bad. I wanted Farve back and knew too little about Aaron and I remember being baffled at how his receivers were over him so fast. And let's not get into Minnesota.
    I still like Farve I got to this video via his highlights, but the things I've seen more support Stephen's view than Skip's on this 1.
