Have you seen The Tank Club's video basically bashing this entire build due to the cost increase of abilities? I just switched to vamp and am at stage 3, sustain isn't even an issue. I'm digging it so far
This is my favorite tank build. I don't even have the listed armor sets, and it still rocks. I can't tell you how many times I've saved my group because I just wouldn't die 😁
I would appreciate it if these guide mentioned the things you get the earliest or immediately and move up until the things you get last so (Race, Skills, Passives and then all the advanced theory stuff) sometimes im looking for a quick rundown of the race, and some early skills to get started with and instead i have to search for when the person mentions race. Trust me on this, everything else is great but focus on what you acquire early and put the "later game" stuff at the end. Then you'll serve both beginners and Vets equally. The timestamp things are also appreciated. Very good video, that's just my suggestion. Have a good one.
I have one suggestion. New players who want this build or any of your other with low dps, have a problem with leveling. You could insert in your video, a section how to level up your, for example, Immortall warrior. This build is great , but in order for a new player to get to that, he has to level. I believe that many players give up this build because they progress very slowly. Help them with a short section, like, how to level this build?Thx.
Agreed im new to the game after a couple years away it would be nice to know what skills to hit as i lvl up alot of these just arent accessible in the early levels so its hard to know what to go for so these skills are ready to use at max level without spending loads of gold to change everything later on

Awesome build Xynode! I think your mythic setup can be optimized though as you have 6 pieces winters on the back bar and only 3 leeching. Get rid of the light waist piece and use 4 pieces leeching body, 3 winters jewelry. One leeching weapon front bar with a winters shield and back bar both winters sword and board. Let’s you keep 5/4 on both bars with stonekeepers and mythic chest. Thoughts? Could run yolna this way too and proc on your back bar every 15s
Hello xynode, i absolutely love this build, its amazing. It has carried me through every content including end game thank you for your time an effort to put it together for us. I have a question though, whats your take on certain end game content guilds telling you that you cant tank a trial because you need to only run sets that buff group leeching is a selfish set and is not allowed ? Imo a tank should just be the man to survive through the damage and keep it off your group and where gear that allows you to do this 🤷🏻♂️
I think it's totally valid, there are lots of tanks out there, who don't die in endgame content, while wearing group dps buffing sets. Why should a endgame trial guild choose a tank with leeching, if there are better options out there.
I do understand im not arguing with guilds that tell me this. I've been looking at that new set drakes rush to swap out for leeching. Run that set with yolnarkrinn, or, im not sure but is powerful assault better as it gives the group more wep n spell dam ? Whats your thoughts on this guys ?
@@BeNy-87 In trials i think the best option is Yolnahkriin+Galenwe, since both buffs are for the entire group and you can maintain both 100% of the time, PA is better if you just want raw damage for your team, or you can use Drake's too if you're doing this with Sorcerers or Necromancers since both ultimates are great. I prefer Alkosh anyway, i think it provides more dps combined with Yolnahkriin.
@Square Dude First of all, Galenwe triggers when you block any attack, so as long as you block something every 2 or 3 seconds you will maintaing 100% empower uptime, of course it's not the case in every single fight, but in most of the fights you can even block normal attacks and that will happens every 2 to 3 seconds, so that will mantain the Galenwe active, as for the Drake's i'm not saying the full benefit is for the sorc, i'm saying that it helps a lot since the Atronach is not just a good dps ult, it's also a good buff for another dps who synergy with that atronach, because of the major berserker. Drake's helps everyone at the end getting fasters horns, shields and everything. Anyway the gear that you will use depends a lot of the fight and the composition in your group, it's not like there is a BiS for tanks that you should always use, only Yolnahkriin is mandatory, the other set and the monster sets you can swap between them.
Yessir!!! This was the first build I ever made, then Easy Sorc 😆. I bet you could do a Templar Tank too. Appreciate the time and effort you all put into the research and videos. 👊🏼🔥
There are basically a thousand different templar tank builds. We don't need another. I myself made an aoe sustaining tank to both heal and protect my teammates. I only used it on a team to help smaller guys progress faster. Most of the weak characters are just another character being built by someone quite familiar with the game
@@maldorov6297 don’t need another? How many do you actually seen running around ESO nowadays? I do find fewer templar tank builds that are updated with the current game. I have only seen 3 maybe 4 builds (on RUclips and other sites) within the past 8+ months. One being a S/B build on both bars, one being 2H/Bow, and the last one with a S/B-Bow build. I like the way @Xynode Gaming stays true to what he wants for his builds....i.e. being a vampire. The comment about him making a templar tank was said tongue in cheek, mainly because most people say they’re the weakest and perhaps not needed anymore.
@@x_FireProof_x you do have a point being that there are only a few good experienced builds currently. To be fair, I was referring to all the different builds that exist, regardless of how bad they may be

Hey, i have a suggestion. The set parts are really hard to get. You should do split the gear section into starter gear and end-game gear. By starter i mean 160-300 CP. I've started playing ESO a few weeks ago and I love your content, but I still want to be a useful tank before I can get all the fancy set parts. Thanks for the effort you put into your videos, I really like them. :)
Another great Trials pice is Vestment of Olo for Tanks since you are using Talons which is a ground AOE attack it will proc Olo for the Major courage mostly used for Vet Arena's though and Most Dungeons, Trials with large singular bosses that are immune are not so great.
Why Elusive Mist over Bloos mist, They both give 75% Damage reduction and Immunity to disabling effects plus as an added bonus of Blood mist is it causes Damage to the enemy and Heals you, If you took damage prior to activating mist form you'll Heal and lets face it as a Tank you don't really need a 30% Movement speed boost. What's your thoughts on why you took the movement speed over the D.O.T n Heal?
Hi ! Just one question about the build : on the written guide, the trait of the shields are Nirnhold, and on the video, the traits of your shields are Reinforced. I love the build, I'm a werewolf player and this is the first time I think about making a vampire character thanks to this build, it's amazing but I'm not sure...do this build can stand in a pvp against a good werewolf build? Good choice. Having a werewolf first is better than having a vampire first, given you want to know how werewolf builds work. Vampire builds tend to over time make you a bit too dependent on the vampire abilities. That bit makes it much harder to want to have a werewolf beforehand

What do you think to sentinel monster set to recover resources if I can't get stone keeper? I'm running the winter version for healing. Great build btw!
@@xynodegaming I put sanguine on front bar and dragons on back. The monster set works really well, was in direfrost veteran, team wiped on last boss but took like 15mins to kill me just standing there lol.
@@xynodegaming i am not doubting your capability. at all it is an amazing build. but if we as tanks rely on our ult to survive when we are in a pinch or to save our teammates (sometimes there are many, many idiots who just rush) dont we need a reliable way to get addiotional ult? even if it is only as an armor enchant? Edit: It is an actual question. I am still pretty big noob at mixing sets and skills.

Hey Xy, you mentioned that our Blood Altar ability will trigger a set later on, but I don't recall seeing anything in the gear section. My first thought was that you were going to use it for Symphony of Blades monster set, but I didn't think that interaction worked anymore?
I was reading the written guide version of the build and i noticied that you say to use "heroic slash ever 9 seconds" but you don't have heroic slash slotted, is this a text error or something similar?
What other set would you recommend for group damage setup I haven’t done trails yet to get the sets u have posted I have leeching n ebon right now. Don’t think I need ebon anymore with everyone have more health now.

No, I don't believe so. You need enough Champion Points to more effectively use this build to begin with. Beginner builds usually are based on getting a good idea of the basic concepts of the role the character was made for
I reccomend using a dunmer for personal gameplay and a nord for a more interactive experience. That's given you don't have the imperial race. Another solid option is orc, though that's also more for switching between tank and physical dps
what addons would you recommend for a tank?? also i wondering if maybe obnoxious breath usage for aoe breach source and inner rage for taunt source instead of puncture?? im just trying to be creative and see if i can come up with a decent nonmeta setup.. i malso surprised your not using spiked armor, considering i've seen dk tanks in pugs making it a staple... im still learning to be a tank, so i'm taking all advice i can get...
Quick tank 101: large health points for best survivability exploit. Use strong damage shields. Those are the only 2 generic points I can give as each tank purpose has different priorities. Pvp: use your abilities selfishly to ensure YOU survive. Pve: same as pvp, but include an aggro activated ability. Team tank: abuse aggro and shielding abilities. It's best while on a team for the tank to both maintain aggro on the enemy and protect your healer(s)
I used to regularly run as the main tank for hard raids and eventually got bored after obtaining the legendary quality equipment from raids. Been offline since then
If you use this build, yes. The cons aren't as bad as you might think. Sure, there's a bit of a weakness to fire, but that hardly applies since you can easily counterbalance it with consumables. You'll have the pros of it and people generally only complain about the weakness because they likely are too dependent on consumables to buff their builds a short bit and as such are unwilling to use a single slot to fix the weakness
@@maricadav immunity to disables and disabling effects(that's not at all what the skill does) don't say it does something and then ignore the thing it's supposed to do
@@VitalityGamezz knockbacps are disabling efefcts, snares are not disabling effects, snares only slow they do not disable you, disable means it requires a break free you cant break free from a snare, knockbacks you can break free thus it is a disabling effect. nice try.
@@matthewwoods2638 knockback doesn't disable as it doesn't place a debuff on anyone or anything. It is an active effect. Abilities that specifically provide immunity to knockback will specifically state it
@@maldorov6297 im sorry do you not know the definition of disable. (of a disease, injury, or accident) limit (someone) in their movements, senses, or activities. put out of action. As you can see a Knockback is indeed by definition a disable. Zox has also labled it as a disable hence why the heavy armor buff stops knockbacks, which is supposed to do the same as mist form. if youre going to come at me, come with backup info. not just heresay

so destro staff on backbar is not a thing anymore? also: I am sitting at 45-47k health with all purple gear and 2-3 enchants which are arcane or tri-stat and not health and the old ice staff on backbar. would that account for roughly 8k (which seems like a big diff.) or am I missing sth.? and of course: still my fav tank build for 4 man content :-)
@@wildchild4346 yeah sure, I got about 5k more now than before. so my 45-47k is after new patch and CP system. still the almost 10k difference seems a bit much for it to be based on just the gold vs. purple gear and a health vs tri-stat enchant... but so far I am still quite happy with the mythic chest and winter´s on back bar version. still need to get me some Galenwe jewelry to test out the more traditional setup though

I've tried both on this build set-up. Leeching provides more consistent steady heals that keep your health at a really nice comfortable level 95% of the time. Crimson can be a solid replacement for it but, it is a burst heal. 8 seconds doesn't seem like a massive downtime but in some content 8 seconds with no extra heals is death. Plus I found that often Crimson would proc when I didn't need the heal but be on cooldown lol.
@@TGraham-wz2dk indeed it is a good replacement. Having no healers or even a downed healer makes the burst healing useful enough with the buffs to keep you going
Stick with either nord or dunmer. Dunmer to balance the vampirism detrimental effect and nord for greater resistances. I'd stick with nord between the two because you can just use food to counterbalance the weakness to fire
Having a discussion with my raid leader, can somebody please confirm this build is useful in vet Cloudrest, more importantly against the baneful mark debuff?
Yes it is fine for VCR and has been used by MANY MANY players. The tank is not the issue with baneful mark. The issue is whether the healer is paying attention or not. Bad/low strength heals = dead players ;)
Leeching does not by itself and is not supposed to, but the status effect does if it applies FROM the poison (so long as you have the passive) status was altered a lot because things were procing too much BUT if you get those CPs for martial status, it happens a lot more :)

@@raydearie9805 at 43 you get a skill reset and attribute reset for free. Save it to use after you reach fifty.

Great stuff, I've learnt alot that I'm gonna bring to my templar tank.. then if that doesn't work I might just outright copy this one ;)
Templar works great with Torment and explosive charge for aoe taunt.
Watch these videos religiously, now that I've started playing again. Is there an updated Templar build? These are the best.

Most aren't hard to get, the exception being Stone Keeper. You can get all the listed (except for Stone Keeper) sets in normal difficulty.
If you're not ready for vFV engine guardian is a very good alternative.

What do you think to sentinel monster set to recover resources if I can't get stone keeper? I'm running the winter version for healing. Great build btw!
totally up to you but you are going to need to meet the proc condition from a skill not a proc. So manual heals not ones from a set ;)
@@xynodegaming I put sanguine on front bar and dragons on back. The monster set works really well, was in direfrost veteran, team wiped on last boss but took like 15mins to kill me just standing there lol.

@@xynodegaming i am not doubting your capability. at all it is an amazing build. but if we as tanks rely on our ult to survive when we are in a pinch or to save our teammates (sometimes there are many, many idiots who just rush) dont we need a reliable way to get addiotional ult? even if it is only as an armor enchant?

Hey Xy, you mentioned that our Blood Altar ability will trigger a set later on, but I don't recall seeing anything in the gear section. My first thought was that you were going to use it for Symphony of Blades monster set, but I didn't think that interaction worked anymore?
Blood alter could trigger winters respite, I use wall of elements to do that instead with this build.

I was reading the written guide version of the build and i noticied that you say to use "heroic slash ever 9 seconds" but you don't have heroic slash slotted, is this a text error or something similar?
What other set would you recommend for group damage setup I haven’t done trails yet to get the sets u have posted I have leeching n ebon right now. Don’t think I need ebon anymore with everyone have more health now.

No, I don't believe so. You need enough Champion Points to more effectively use this build to begin with. Beginner builds usually are based on getting a good idea of the basic concepts of the role the character was made for

I reccomend using a dunmer for personal gameplay and a nord for a more interactive experience. That's given you don't have the imperial race. Another solid option is orc, though that's also more for switching between tank and physical dps

Quick tank 101: large health points for best survivability exploit. Use strong damage shields. Those are the only 2 generic points I can give as each tank purpose has different priorities. Pvp: use your abilities selfishly to ensure YOU survive. Pve: same as pvp, but include an aggro activated ability. Team tank: abuse aggro and shielding abilities. It's best while on a team for the tank to both maintain aggro on the enemy and protect your healer(s)
I used to regularly run as the main tank for hard raids and eventually got bored after obtaining the legendary quality equipment from raids. Been offline since then

If you use this build, yes. The cons aren't as bad as you might think. Sure, there's a bit of a weakness to fire, but that hardly applies since you can easily counterbalance it with consumables. You'll have the pros of it and people generally only complain about the weakness because they likely are too dependent on consumables to buff their builds a short bit and as such are unwilling to use a single slot to fix the weakness
Regarding winters respite, on the bar with mist. Will it only proc on back bar?

Mistform reduces your damage taken, mechanics still apply esp. the knockback ones. I think X does mention that in the vid
@@maricadav immunity to disables and disabling effects(that's not at all what the skill does) don't say it does something and then ignore the thing it's supposed to do
@@VitalityGamezz knockbacps are disabling efefcts, snares are not disabling effects, snares only slow they do not disable you, disable means it requires a break free you cant break free from a snare, knockbacks you can break free thus it is a disabling effect. nice try.
@@matthewwoods2638 knockback doesn't disable as it doesn't place a debuff on anyone or anything. It is an active effect. Abilities that specifically provide immunity to knockback will specifically state it

As you can see a Knockback is indeed by definition a disable. Zox has also labled it as a disable hence why the heavy armor buff stops knockbacks, which is supposed to do the same as mist form. if youre going to come at me, come with backup info. not just heresay

also: I am sitting at 45-47k health with all purple gear and 2-3 enchants which are arcane or tri-stat and not health and the old ice staff on backbar. would that account for roughly 8k (which seems like a big diff.) or am I missing sth.?

They 100% are for most content, this kinda seems like a dungeon or solo tank build. I wouldn't take this tank into my trials
Also base health got raised with the new update to base 15k
@@wildchild4346 yeah sure, I got about 5k more now than before. so my 45-47k is after new patch and CP system. still the almost 10k difference seems a bit much for it to be based on just the gold vs. purple gear and a health vs tri-stat enchant...
but so far I am still quite happy with the mythic chest and winter´s on back bar version. still need to get me some Galenwe jewelry to test out the more traditional setup though

Crimson isn't at all better, but it can fill the gap as needed if you don't posess Leeching. Tbh, Leeching isn't hard to obtain, so just go get it

No you can't run this build without vampirism. Half of it utilizes vampire abilities

what do you think about the crimson set from castle thorn if i don't have enough leeching pieces yet?
I've tried both on this build set-up. Leeching provides more consistent steady heals that keep your health at a really nice comfortable level 95% of the time. Crimson can be a solid replacement for it but, it is a burst heal. 8 seconds doesn't seem like a massive downtime but in some content 8 seconds with no extra heals is death. Plus I found that often Crimson would proc when I didn't need the heal but be on cooldown lol.
@@TGraham-wz2dk indeed it is a good replacement. Having no healers or even a downed healer makes the burst healing useful enough with the buffs to keep you going

I have the mythic setup and when I put the leeching sword my physical and spell resistance from 1.500 get to 0.... Why happened this??? :(

Stick with either nord or dunmer. Dunmer to balance the vampirism detrimental effect and nord for greater resistances. I'd stick with nord between the two because you can just use food to counterbalance the weakness to fire

Yes it is fine for VCR and has been used by MANY MANY players. The tank is not the issue with baneful mark. The issue is whether the healer is paying attention or not. Bad/low strength heals = dead players ;)

Have been using this build for Long, Love it. But since the new patch, Leeching's poison does not give back stamina om PS4.
Leeching does not by itself and is not supposed to, but the status effect does if it applies FROM the poison (so long as you have the passive) status was altered a lot because things were procing too much BUT if you get those CPs for martial status, it happens a lot more :)
