- I have never been satisfied with any recording of this song to date.
I think I've uploaded it 5 times. This last time I decided to make the best recording I could possibly do. This is the first "enhanced Recording" I did of this song. After spending 10 hours on it I like what I heard. This song must have 20 chords in it--it took me an hour to figure them all out and lay down an exact 12 string acoustic guitar track. I needed the vocal harmonies a little more brighter and pronounced in certain verses and I can tell you that wasn't an easy task. I added a new harmony part from 3:32 to 3:37 to make it sound nicer. I kept it as clean and uncluttered as I could with a quality stereo version from the CD.

Do you have you own Recording Studio or what !
Our local band had a home studio in the basement in the 1990's but removed since and some of the equipment was moved to my apartment where I'm using it to make these enhanced versions. I use a Yamaha 1602 sound reinforcement mixer, a Steadman studio mic and a bunch of guitars (acoustic and electric).
I feed it into my computers digital multitrack system to make the recordings.
Working in that home studio for 10 years was good practice on layering
instruments, vocals, keyboard & percussion for the work I do now. That's it.

There must be 100's of tracks (I can think of loads of singles) that you could improve on !
I've done about 400 already and they are very time consuming using up 8-10 hours per song from start to finished video. It's fun but when I work on songs I don't get much else done! Kenn
You done a good job on a great song. Wish you could have added some bass response to the recording. It's certainly got the brightness now though !
All troughout my life I thought Boyzone is the original who sung this song. 🤔

The Osmonds released it, and took it to No.1 in 1974 ... long before the likes of Boyzone took it to No.2 it in the mid 90s.
As 'galactica' rightly infers in the above post though ...... it was actually JOHNNY BRISTOL who, along with three others, originally wrote this song in 1974 for his new album, and his record company MGM then decided to release it as a single by Bristol .... but it was only when the Osmonds asked permission to record it in the same year that the song REALLY found global success..
