I used to love this place when it was on Tenn ave at the foot of the mtn. I was in such awe of the work it took to build and make all the guns light up lol. It’s pretty cool.

Thanks for capturing this, it’s the best I’ve seen. I made the new presentation and I wasn’t ever able to get a good video.

I was involved in the move from the old "Confederama" in chattanooga to the top of Lookout Mt. with the Chattanooga Area Model Railroad Club over twenty years ago. I automated the map with a PLC & low voltage lights. I see that they have since upgraded the presentation. I'm mixed on the backdrops, but like the new lighting system.

That’s awesome. I’m the guy responsible for the multimedia and upgrade and took great car in respecting the previous work done. Since the room is able to be so dark there was no need to grey wash the scenic or miniatures which are all still intact and visible. I was almost able to repair and replace the smoke elements and sync back up with the audio however budgets didn’t allow. I’m not 100% on the back drops myself, however, due to budget constraints I used some donated content licenses and reenactment video that was pre made for other things… I was able to work with my historian partners to make sure that the images, costumes and flags seen in the backgrounds were actually a fit to those particular battles. All the painted backdrop exists but it was just a landscape and the first stab at multimedia was basically the equivalent to a 55 in TV projected onto the back wall.

What happened to all the miniature soldiers that were part of Confederama?

I am unsure, there are some miniature soldiers on the map still, hard to see since it was so dark! Was there a display of mini soldiers at the Confederama?
