Great video, I actually ordered that coffee rub from you awhile back, have yet to use it. I think everyone has trouble with cooking hash browns unless you have a big enough surface to flip like in disc or on blackstone.
Not to distract for AP's great post, but chef John from Food Wishes taught me the best way to make fresh hash browns. First thing is, soak the shredded taters for a bit in 2-4 stages, to get most of the starch out. DRY completely, I cheat and add shreeded onjuns:)
Yes, I know from Cowboy Kent Rollins. ruclips.net/video/ttK2YP_ayYI/видео.html I just meant when its from a bag and doing large amount that covers a lot of surface area.
Just found your channel. I use a discada for overlanding cooking and have to say it is my favorite way to cook. Definitely going to steal your recipe here!
That's all i cooked on Memorial Day weekend. Went camping and did breakfast discadas, Carne asada/al pastor tacos, fried up our rainbow trout with hushpuppies. Even did apple fritters. Easy clean up too. Wipe it off and flip it upside down 😀
Jeff, I agree with you, that we should all thank ourToops. They are Heroes. I love that Discada Disc, it gives a lot of options. My favorite things to discuss is Politics, Religion, cars, sports teams, and Food. Lol. Thanks for sharing
This is awesome and a cool way to cook.. loved the way you displayed it because folks can just pick at it, family style! Wonderful cook brother, great opening!! Too funny...Mayo... but true... lol
A very nice cook up indeed. Just a slight correction or clarification. The name of the company is Southwest Disk as opposed to Southwest Discada. For those interested in their products the company can be found on the internet at www.southwestdisk.com. I own three of their disks as well as one of their portable burners. My only motivation to give them a shout out is that they offer excellent products, very fair prices, superior customer service and the owner is a fellow veteran. Thank you for sharing your video! Cheers!
Looks delicious. I have made plenty soggy hashbrowns too. Will try soon again i am sure. The discada looks so nice to cook on. Saw Tango Joe use one also in a video. I have ound somehin simila here that i might get to complement my wok :) Thanks Jeff
Man that looked good. I like that disc thing. Kinda WOK like. When I get my kitchen finished with the gas cooktop, I'll be woking it up some. That food looked like my kind of eatin. Those has browns were awesome lookin. Great video
Whoa brother that sizzle was awesome! With you on the hash browns too! Never thought of a steak on the discada! You know I thought I smelled you cooking over in FI this past weekend LOL! Great video Jeff!
You are wrong! While 'Discada' is indeed a particular culinary dish or recipe, it is ALSO a TYPE OF COOKING VESSEL as well as a GENRE, METHOD and TYPE OF COOKING as well. There are THREE different meanings that can be applied to the word 'DISCADA'.

This coffee rub is one of my favorite seasonings for steak or other cuts of beef. This is definitely my way to cook hash browns from now on.

Fried rib eye steak! I think I made that once. Gotta do that one again. All the victuals looked mighty tasty, specially the rib eye.

All of that looked great Jeff. I love my hash browns like that. I got to get me one of those disks.
So far, I'm really liking this disk. You can bring it up to temp fast and then cool it down when needed.

Most of my cooking was up in Hilliard this weekend at the St. Mary's river, but came home Monday and gave this a try.
WooT, Great post....take a wok on the ribeye side!
Thanks Gregor. It was a lot of fun.
Well, can't decide if I lub ya or hate ya....NOW I have just a few more rubs and sauces to try, AND send to my son (who loves to BBQ:).
Looks Awesome!
Does that disc work on a gas stove top?
Pete
I doubt that this one would. It is 24" wide, not including the handles, and weighs 27 lbs. It sure is fun Pete. Thanks!
Thank you for your reply!
I’ll have to find one of those discs.
Pete
Boater Website is Southwest Discada. I bought it from Amazon.
Thank you very much !
Pete
I don't talk about politics either... TRUMP, TRUMP,TRUMP 2020, MAGA
! other thing I have done to my disk is add a 1 1/2 inch lip on top and a couple lips on the sides to hold food
Great idea
I always have to tell the waitresses that I want 'hash browns' not 'hash whites' ;-)
I hear ya Bro!
Discada its a dish, not a cooking technique.
Thanks Luis.
