30 years ago when I learned about this it was referred to as "Dirty Steaks". I love cooking that way, and the meat is SOOOO flavorful. The coals and ash help give it an amazing flavor.

Put one up against my neighbors Yeti and it kept ice the same, if not better(we could have weighed it). I use one in my truck bed for shopping food items, one's in the camper, gave one as a present, and one's in the garage. I'm not a fan of the handle so I took it off the ones in the truck and camper. Yeti is apparently Tibetan for 'ripoff'.
I finally performed this method of cooking at the coast and its amazing! Threw some thick ribeyes on it and they cooked 👌🏼 perfect! I hooked! Ty for sharing! ☺️

Years ago I'd ride horseback cross country for several days and this was how I'd cook my meat if I was lucky to have any. And also I'd take a tater or 3 and wrap them in riverbank mud and bury them in the bed of coals.

You'd be very surprised at the number of people who don't know to soak the corn before putting it on the fire.

John Does - keeps the husks from burning up and steams the corn kernels.

Years ago I'd ride horseback cross country for several days and this was how I'd cook my meat if I was lucky to have any. And also I'd take a tater or 3 and wrap them in riverbank mud and bury them in the bed of coals.
