I hope she keeps making videos. Her attention to detail in her explanations is excellent. She's good at explaining or demonstrating how to be efficient in your movements. Like when she grabs the side of the opponent to help pull her self around. Those little movements add up to a big deal.
I learned a variation of this last night. I train with my teenage kids and we will practice what was taught here along with what we learned in class. Thank you, your a very good instructor.
That was really helpful. I like your videos because you communicate the techniques really clearly both in the way you articulate and the visual demonstration.
Holy shit, it's Shane Fazen! I've been doing Jiu Jitsu for 6 years now and boxing for a little over 5. About 4 years ago I started following you on Instagram for boxing content but today is the day I found out you make Jiu Jitsu/Grappling content as well Keep up the good the work my friend! I'm gonna watch a lot of you're youtube vids in the foreseeable future ;)
BJJ Blackbelt D E S T R O Y S Whitebelt!!! Must see!!! Also, love that you got your name written on your belt in marker (3:33). Reminds me of my high school TKD days.
Shane had a video a little while back addressing bareknuckle techniques. At first he asserted a palm-striking method, but this was addressed by the channel English Martial Arts, whose host (Martin 'Oz' Austwick) is well-read on bareknuckle boxing (as well as catch-as-catch-can wrestling and English backsword). Oz asserts that all accounts of bareknuckle techniques strike with the knuckles rather than the palms, and outline several methods and techniques that were done at the time. Shane responded to this, acknowledging the practice as striking with the knuckles. It should be noted that the comment sections of these videos contain many people noting that palm-striking was common among Irish bare-handed fights, though I don't personally know of any accounts. Something to note about pre-Queensberry rules boxing is that the ruleset wasn't just "boxing but without gloves", many types of strikes such as hammer-fists and palm strikes (if you were so inclined) were permitted - even kicking, which often resulted in "purring" (kicking the opponent's shins). Oh, and grappling. There's even a book, "Banned from Boxing, The forgotten grappling techniques of Classic Pugilism". Many stances in old-school bareknuckle boxing were held with the palms up (rather than "in", more common to modern boxing), which turns the elbows in, making it hard to fish underhooks in the clinch. Often times there were neither round limits, nor time limits on rounds (rounds ended when anyone was 'downed'), a match ended by stoppage one way or another (knockout, failing to come up to scratch between rounds, forfeit, corner forfeit). The reason I'm using so many "oftens" and "sometimes" is because there were a couple of rulesets, the one preceding Queensberry being London Prize Ring rules (or 'Broughton's rules'), and before that it was largely lawless, with contestants agreeing to whatever rules they deemed appropriate beforehand. All these factors may change the nature of bareknuckle boxing as done historically and modern BKFC-style rules, which function much like Queensberry boxing but without gloves. As for the actual biomechanics of punching without gloves? I'll let someone more versed in the specifics talk about that in depth, but the gist of it is that you'll largely want to scale back your punching force on risk of breaking your hand. Taking a shot from a bare fist will usually result in less head trauma, but more superficial damage from the knuckles scraping skin. The stability of the wrist may be compromised (in BKFC they seem to wrap the wrist for some support). I've heard that applying pressure with the thumb while in a fist will help stabilize the wrist, but I can't be sure without seeing data. Similarly, I would say a vertical fist (palm in) would usually be more structurally sound than a normal horizontal fist (palm down), due to this plane allowing for more engagement of the forearm. There are positives and negatives to horizontal vs vertical fist, so it would be a case-by-case judgment call.
Honestly I think this is a good move for krav. A lot of bjj techniques require that ur opponent fight clean or be unarmed, but this one (from what I can tell) prevents them from using their hands or legs to strike vital areas. It also sets u up for nice strikes to the back of the head. Really looking to practice this more, maybe even a flying omoplata if I can get there.
Hey! man, Why did you stop making boxing tutorial series?,Your boxing head movement tutorial was just amazing!..Why don't you make the same video on countering those punches with time?.Because i practice what you teach! & i'm waiting!.Bro!.
Where did you get those mats dude? Those look nice. Also great video. Very informative. She did a great job of explaining and demonstrating everything.
Omaplata is the thing that makes Joe Rogan scream from the top of his lungs and possibly kill his mind lol whenever he sees anyone attempting to somewhat do something similar to the omaplata he will die
which gym does erin train/teach at?! im curios to know which gym she is affiliated with. she obviously knows her stuff based off of the videos you've done with her
You dont have to train one BEFORE joining a gym -- thats the point in joining! And you decide which style, based on your interest/goals -- what I enjoy may be completely different from what you like.
Yep, they should do a series or just have a ademnem with street clothes, jeans and T- shirt or sweater. I suspect you meant MMA gear (shorts and a breast protector if female), but useful to see how these moves would adapt to practical self defense applications.
Mma isn't really a style. It's more about how you transition between the phases of combat. As for anything self taught, make sure to get a sparring partner and protective gear. Otherwise you won't be able to pressure test anything.
New video idea: WTF DO ATHLETES WEAR HOT CLOTHES (HOODIES, TRACKPANTS) IN THE SUN WHEN THEY GO FOR RUNS. I THOUGHT SWEAT WASN'T RELATED TO WEIGHT LOSS? OR ARE THERE OTHER REASONS?
Triste de voir qu'on attribue au jjb cette technique alors qu'elle provient du judo... Je sais que le jjb est à la mode mais bon faut rendre à César ce qui appartient à César sacrebleu!!!!!
I've been self training my self for about 6 months now ( im not very good ) could someone plz watch my video on my channel of me just hitting the bag and give me some quality tips. I have no fight experience except street fights n i wanna learn more about the art of boxing.
She should have done all this with the glasses on the whole time..

I did this from an arm bar today in my bjj class. First time learning it and fell in love
It'd be interesting if you guys did a sparring video with Erin breaking down white belt mistakes at the end of the video.
That was really helpful. I like your videos because you communicate the techniques really clearly both in the way you articulate and the visual demonstration.
Best detail I've heard so far on omo

I think I just found what I need! Thx🎉
Do a video on BKFC and how it affects how you punch compared to using gloves
Ko764be it’s simple, you can’t punch as hard. More cuts and blood, less head trauma.

You dont have to train one BEFORE joining a gym -- thats the point in joining! And you decide which style, based on your interest/goals -- what I enjoy may be completely different from what you like.
Conspiracy theory tine, the glasses are because she got punched in the face after she did the video, and then they film the intro and outro.
No. She’s just really cool
Awosme

Good
Been working on triangle defence al lot. But fall into omoplata a lot
@fightTIPS Shane where'd you get that gi from?
can you show how to do this in no gi?
Yep, they should do a series or just have a ademnem with street clothes, jeans and T- shirt or sweater. I suspect you meant MMA gear (shorts and a breast protector if female), but useful to see how these moves would adapt to practical self defense applications.
Reuben Landon used to do BJJ
Looks pretty cool
Can you make a video on No-Gi variant of this ?
It's the same exact move...Not once did she mention gripping the gi.
Every time I try omoplata in live rolls the opponent just slips their arm out. How do I prevent that?
Love talks vids thanks
My dyslexic ass read oompaloompa
Hey Shane how can I use self taught boxing or mma training in a street fight ?
Mma isn't really a style. It's more about how you transition between the phases of combat. As for anything self taught, make sure to get a sparring partner and protective gear. Otherwise you won't be able to pressure test anything.
@Follow the howl lol that was the short and sweet version.
Shane, will we ever see you inside the ring again?
And squeeze! Lol
Try to do it again an omoplates miss formation person... Good luck.
It's like baratoplada, but different. Imma so smurt. Next question, please.
If he caught your second leg what can you do
Triangle, he has one arm in one arm out which is very bad for grappling. Always stay two in or two out when in a guard
Guys I'm 11 is it perhaps a good age to start training for Kick boxing?
what am i doing with my life? Any age is a good age to start training.
Dang.. i’m only second to the first one to watch this
