Dom, day by day, week by week, fast approaching "National Treasure" status.
Just needs to stop saying wif and vat
These episodes go by so quickly. Wish they were an hour long.
Love it.
This needs to be a Tv series 👍👍
It is the dedication to authenticity and detail that makes these videos such a joy to watch
Very inventive solution for those panels. The hard work paid off, they look great!
Never thought I’d get so excited for a peddle car
pedal !
My grandfather was a pattern maker - then head Engineer at AGM ,Australian Glass Manufacturers 1920's - 60's .. His favourite saying was " if it can be made by hand it can be made anywhere "
A very humble & clever man was he.
It was back in the 50's one of my first mechanical memories was watching a piece of metal being inserted into a Riley 2500 wing using Sif Bronze. Later as an apprentice tool maker I did a lot of welding using both Sif Bronze and silver solder. I was taught to first clean the parts to be joined, then to paint the flux only onto the area where I wanted the metal to go and not to flood the area. That way I got a nice clean join with little or no need to fettle back. another advantage to Sif Bronze is it's done at a much lower temperature and so causes less distortion.
"Pre-stretching" is my word of the week.
Your welcome haha
Dom, your problem solving abilities really make me smile. How do you duplicate a mass production result with hand tools? I think your solution was absolutely brilliant. You still get the big jolt of satisfaction when a plan works better than expected. All creatives go through that. Love it.
Fair play Dom, an hour and a half is brilliant..😊❤ time as you know (when making one offs) goes out the window..😅😂😂 you'll have the pedal car guys chasing you to make parts for them.. Class job, great to see the hand crafts in action.. I do a bit myself, stone carving and metalwork.😊❤ it can seem like a struggle at first, getting your ideas to be a reality. Yet as you well know, time and patience everytime😉😇😊😜 regards P....
Well done Dom, that was a fantastic idea for forming the panels 👏👍
You're so clever, can't wait to see it at Goodwood.
Those panels are works of art.
I like that you use a lot of old Maschines & tools ⚒️ please give more info on them as that is just as interesting as the work you’re doing. Great video ,greetings from Germany 🇩🇪
You really do take Do It Yourself to another level Dom.
Must admit Dom you’re a talented fella 🏴👍
Hi Dom. I've spent hundreds of hours making these kind of fabrications . You've done a superb job . Well done !
Thank you John
An idea that will might work for you is you can take an air chisel, weld the ball bearing on the end one of the chisels and this will nicely do the same thing but just a little less effort. I got the idea from another of RUclips channel where the guy was making parts for an old Triumph. Thanks for your channel really enjoy watching all of your projects..
I’ve been a tin basher for 54 years and still doing it and I have to say I’m impressed with your ingenuity a skill Dom. love the videos.
Excellent job in repairing and making new panels. Very well done. Can’t wait for the continued progress
Thanks! 👍
Hi Dom, when needs must, it just goes to prove that necessity realy is, the mother of invention.
I enjoy the way you find a different way to produce the repair parts that you need. Just like I use to do in the past with limited tools and money.
Doesn't matter what Dom's up to, his enthusiasm is a joy to behold.
Was bit miffed that this was not a Porsche episode, but soon warmed to it. Loved your creativity and ingenuity in fabricating the mold for the panel and how it’s turning out. All very interesting stuff. You are forgiven, but hoping to see a short spot on offering up the new Porsche panels soon.
AWESOME !!! A JOY ❤️ to watch your video’s .. CHEERS MATE .. from Québec 🇨🇦
Loving it , keep them coming as Sundays wouldn’t be Sunday without a Dom video 👍
I can really understand why you have such enthusiasm for this little pedal car project, and it truly comes across in the video. I look forward to the future progress. Best wishes.
Glad you enjoy it!
Morning!! Dominic.
Keep pedaling!!!!!!
With all the motivation you have!!
Big hug
Thanks for showing this. The metal work is really great to see
You got talent Dom. Fantastic start, can’t wait for the next jobs. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👏👏👏👏👏👏
my fav peddle car. it was the star for me in the Norman Wisdom film where it was pride of place in the shop window. 👍👍👍👍👍👍
Looking good so far, top job on those inner arches 👍
Well done Dom, you are doing a great job. Being a desktop operative I really enjoy your content.
Very neat metalwork - great ideas and skills.
Last week I was thinking 'What is the point', as so decayed, but now I see it. 👍
I’m glad your coming round! Thanks
I greatly enjoyed every minute of this Austin pedal car restoration episode...
Impressive work with the ball bearing hammer. I was doubting it would do the job, but I reckon your pre stretch was a genius move. Nice job! 👍😎
Dom, with that front panel get some hallow leather punches. Cut half the sides out so you have a crescent shaped moon shape. Then just us your bead roller and then use the right sized punches to shape then ends. Easy peasie!!!!!
Ohh, that corner cutter is awesome. Sweet as!!
How hard are they to find over there.
I'll have to start looking one over here.
Great project Dom quite a challenge for a simple build. Cheers
0:50 looks more like an airfix kit now. All you need is some superglue and Humbrol enamel paint! 😂😂😂
Loving your work Dom! I had very little knowledge of these Austin pedal cars, and I'm delighted in the process and learning of new cool things!
Without doubt one of the best RUclips channels going. Keep up the good work Dom 👍👍
Very impressed with the cruciform indents on those panels Dom! If you have any more to do like that on the body, instead of hammering the ball ended "punch" why not use an air hammer to do it? It would save you a great deal of time. Looking forward to the next episode!
No where long enough videos, great work Dom
Great work Dom, your skill set is much broader than you think 😊
Lovely work dom ...
What Sunday's are all about😊
Great job Dom!
Looking forward to the build up!
I'd pay good money to just come and drink coffee in your workshop and watch you work your magic on these projects :)
Enjoy your video of when you're making panels but these were so much better because of how you showed the process of the tooling how you made them and its encouraging for others to have a go at very simple ways once you show how to make them and just pop them in a box just in case thanks Paul from Plymouth
Glad it was helpful!
Excellent work, really enjoyed this one but I’m now on the hunt for a corner notcher 😉
(It wasn't a mold/mould!! 😂) Anyone who can make tools is VERY clever. Great progress 👏.
Thanks for telling us sometimes how long things take to do to; more respect.
Hello Dom great video as always. Have you thought about leading the smaller holes in the outer skins?
Great vid very inventive way of making those panels great work.. from Connecticut USA 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
You’ve done really well Dom,don’t put yourself down. You’ve come up with some jigs and formers to get the result you needed, well done. Thanks for the video.👍👍
Amazing workmanship 👍
Thanks 👍
Great to watch your creativity Dom.
You are doing very very good 😂
Another great day Dom !
Cheers From California 😎
I love how you've made these panels Dom. A great job, a real pleasure to watch you develop the process and the tooling! I'm looking forward to seeing how you make those big pieces.
Great work Dom the J40 will look awesome when you have finished it.
Fantastic work! We had a day trip to the Weald & Downland on Monday 😁 We saw Will working and being filmed, were you there? The bonus was my wife bought me a copy of your tool book that was signed by you, lucky me 😁
I was not there Monday, but thank your wife from me for purchasing the book! She clearly has good taste 😛
congrats on 100K subscribers
Your attention to detail is exemplary😀 well done indeed sir👍👍
Love to hear honest John’s comments on the 90 degree Guillotine.
Becoming a real panel beater Dom.
What a fantastic job you've done on those baket's. Your very clever Dom
Thank you! Cheers!
Impressed with ur fabrication methods as a tinkerer my self it puts my basic methods to shame can't wait for the next video I think u was right to blast it first so u have a good base to start from and no worry of bits re rusting 👍
Lovely job on those panels 👍
Thanks 👍
Another great video. You are super talented Dom.
I appreciate that thank you
Sneaky Ranalah stake Dolly stand appearance 👀
Very good!!!
You could chuck your 'Bell end rod' into a hammer drill to take some of the slow manual work out of the project... Groovy! 😝
The panel you made with the pressing, neat idea but to save you a lot of hammering time, I make similar tools but for an air gun (air chisel) with that tool welded to one of the chisel fittings.
You would do it in a lot less time and have less arm ache
Lovely project, keep at it
Keep smiling and hugs to Wendy (and also John haha)
Another brilliant video Dom. Good story telling without being too long winded and some ingenious solutions to challenging problems. Long may this last. Thank you! ❤😊
Wow Dom very impressive panel work, loved your idea with the ball bearing. Good to have the tool machines. Another great video a joy to watch.
I prefer this to the Porsch 😊
Awesome work Dom really enjoy your channel
Glad you enjoy it!
Hi Dom, Amazing just keep doing what you do, things will all come together soon 😅, doing a good job 😀. All the best Brian 😃
Superb Dom,ball bearing on a stick, genius fella, well done.. Can't wait to see the next instalment.
So far so good Dom.
The tiny ball bearing panel was very clever
Brilliant work Dom, really appreciate the work you put into doing all the tooling to do things right, be proud of yourself!
Excellent work... doesn't matter that it took the time it did, as the result is so good. When you finish this it will be better made than the original.
Outstanding work Dom.
Just came across one here in the States and amazed at the detail down to the steering wheel! all for the low, low price of 5,000.00!!! Love to do a body in Fiberglass!
The " ball on a stick" idea was absolute genius Dom. 👏👏👏👏👏👏
Dom, welding panel steel with by Tig is to Hot which causes panels to distort. Panelbeaters use Mig welding but spot tack weld around patches, but cool or use heat sinks to remove heat away from weld to stop distortion.
Hi Dom. Nice work on those parts excellent to watch & see your thoughts come to the finished article .
Cracking episode as always Dom. Loving the pedal car stuff! 👍👌
Thanks 👍
Fabulous work Dom, I love it that you have all the old toolong as well😊
Dom,
You should consider using Silicon Bronze for tigging patches in. I prefer AC current, but it can be DC welded. It only puts a fraction of the heat of steel rod into the work since you're basically soldering by melting the rod instead of having to bring the workpiece to the melting point.
Brilliant. All that real craftsmanship. Well worth watching again. Good luck with finding the outer panels and hope to see the Ranalah in full action .
Cracking engineering Dom.
Dom, just love the way you created the inner cross moulding. Thought you would have to press it out in one go, didn't even think about the way you did it with the ball. Keeping it simple is sometimes the best.
Always a great watch Dom ...
Those panels look absolutely brilliant! Curious, would a preheat with Oxy/Acetylene help them when stretching or forming?
If your TIG box has pulse, you should give a go when welding in thin metal. Try a setting of 1.2 pps, 50% peak, 25% background. You’ll need to up your base amps just a bit because the heat is only on 50% of the time. Using it, you can run the entire seam with minimal distortion and time your filler dip to the pulse.
Lovely to watch Dom. I was channelling your skills yesterday, flattening a 1977 Puch bicycles chain guard. Tap tap tap!
I think when it’s time, a period correct paint scheme ala Peter Max might be extraordinary. Maybe even talk John into peddling it? 😂😂😂😂
Well done Dom, coming along,👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👏
Great work Dom.
Wow! This is showing your metal skills to the max! You are truly talented young man!
Thank you very much!
Cracking job Mr DC 😊
Thanks 👍
