    I reviewed this video and picked up a new insight. “The first two steps do not need to be as precise but the last two do.” Super helpful because I surf Malibu. It is fast and closes. If I hesitate to build speed it is impossible to make the section, especially during a lower tide. It is an angle in and go wave. At least that is what I see the best surfers do. Thanks a lot Ben, super helpful!!!

    Bro so good as usual...the age old form over function debate is what this boils down too...my 2 cents is that 4 steps has nicer form and increases success in traditional logging... but personally I find two steps is super functional especially on my backhand on point breaks like raglan which I basically only ever surf because I can't seem to get myself out of this town for one reason or another but mainly cause It's paradise...anyway I digress, thanks for affirming that two steps is not only acceptable but in fact a critically advanced skill when used correctly and I guess as part of a full set of cross stepping tools...I like to think of Longboard skills like the way my grandad used have all his tools lined up on the shed wall with pencil lines drawn around each tools perimeter...why grab the biggest heavy hitter when a smaller lighter hammer will work you know?...ahh gods damn the corporation's and their faceless beauracratic sycophants calling themselves leaders I digress again, sorry mate...my logger mates have hassling me for two stepping to the nose as not being traditional or maybee like not cruisy enough!!!???...like every free thinking soul surfing log enthusiast I of course told them all to lay of the special sauce and think it through...nah jokes I got all self conscious about my style and reverted back to 4 steps like everyone said lol!..but it's literally halfed my nose riding time as I've been missing critical sections spending half the bloody wave walking in one direction and the other half going the otheway, half the time I don't even know which way I'm going anymore, which foot goes where, and I'm all wrapped in me F ing kook strap!... anyways keep up the good work bro honestly you are the Mantis Sensei...legendary🍻☯️

    Good tip! Also can you do a video on which type of wave is good for nose riding and which ones aren't good for nose riding like how to read the wave?

    Hi Ben, what long board turns easiest in your opinion.
    The widest point in the middle, towards the nose or towards tail?
    I riding about a 9’ 2. What tail is easiest to turn with, square, round or pin.
    Thnx

    Really appreciate your content Ben, your advice has really helped me with confidence cross stepping and wrapping toes over. Might have got there without you but it would have taken a hell of a lot longer! 🤙

    Can you talk about how to pump? Especially foot positions?

    • @sixfootplus
      @sixfootplus Год назад

      Longboarding is not about pumping but trimming. Exceptio would be if you're riding a hi performance longboard .
