Love your uploads! I am 70 and 2 years into learning to surf (with a pandemic thrown in just to limit my access to the water). Any different recommendations for older students? I find it is a lot harder not to over-analyze things when I'm working with my coach.

Thanks for that. You've definitely given me thoughts on how to progress. Perhaps you could finish videos with printed summary in addition to the verbal? You give a lot of great information and I'm slow to incorporate it all.

Thank you Ben! You’ve covered several critical areas related to positioning on the board and on the wave. Really helpful technical pointers that I can work on. But just as important (and rarely mentioned elsewhere) was your emphasis on finding our centre of balance in a neutral, slightly flexed position that we can return to. Consciously returning the body to a centred position of balance is crucial to finding our centre during dynamic manoeuvres. The more conscious we are of our centre, then the more subtle and dynamic our surfing can be.

100% agree, having the neutral, low base is super important and I think something that we can steer away from on longboards as we often see people with a tall straight posture riding logs. But you're right, for being able to move from manouvre to manouvre and staying stable its crucial
Really appreciate that and glad it was useful, yewww

This is great Ben, thank you.
I think I am still stuck in the cross roads and feel like I am getting better at cross stepping but as you say, it’s all about positioning on the wave. I appreciate this and will get you to help me with some online teaching in a couple months when I am more settled and have time to really focus on what you think I need to work on. 🤙🤙😎

Every board is different and finding the right position on a board your not familiar with or haven't ridden for a while, isn't instant. I would say this isn't something most beginners are not aware of.
