It's so weird looking at season 1 stuff after spending so much time with later seasons. It's interesting seeing the characters slowly take their shape over time.
Community helped me during a dark moment. That “inspiring” speech that the dean gave showed me that actually my life doesn’t suck that much and helped me to laugh during that hard time. I can relate to Annie, with the difference that instead of pills, what messed up my college studies was: working since I was 18 in full time exploiting jobs and study careers that I didn’t like. Thank you Community.
I started watching community in fall of 2020, when I was in the middle of lockdown and my grandma was diagnosed with cancer. She passed about a month later and my house was overrun with aunts and uncles. I watched it over and over at least six times all the way through. It was the only thing that felt remotely stable to me at the time. Thank you Community.
Within the first two minutes, Jim Rash had me laughing hysterically over the Dean's flubbing of the welcome speech. He's also an Oscar Winner, having won the Best Adapted Screenplay for "The Descendents."

Someone needs to walk me through how that was funny rather of humiliating, awkward, and wildly unbelievable. No joke, no setup, no contrast or even a twist of any kind, just.... some random nobody failing at something a child could manage. I literally do not understand what exactly people would be laughing at in this scene.
I never realized how much it feels like Danny is straining to do the Abed-isms in the first episode. Like it's not something you even notice until you compare it to how naturally he pulls off the (for lack of a better word) unnatural speaking pattern as the show goes on. As someone with autism, it's really cool to see an allistic actor master the flat speech thing in a way that, despite seeming robotic at face value, actually is still very human.
34:56 cheerleader scene - the chalk board has the following words top to bottom (in Spanish), which were perfect for the scene: fight, sin, chest, breast, danger.
Yes but also I’m glad they never got together. One thing I really like about Community is, more then almost any show (even ironically the one called Friends), Community is really about friendship. There’s a bit of will they won’t they but it’s super minimal, which I personally like.
@@TheFiddleFaddle True, s1 definitely was the closest to other sitcoms and had the most relationship material. Still (besides the s1 finale) it never felt like the core focus of the show; with most similar shows the main focus is often the will they won’t they, while in Community the main focus always felt like it was watching this group of unlikely people come together. Colombia, maybe U de Bogotá?
It’s so underrated
