There is no denying what Jon Jones has achieved, but the minute you pop for steroids, not once, but twice! You're not even in the conversation. He shouldn't have a place on the pyramid at all. Imagine Messi being found out for performance enhancing drugs? Imagine any great of any sport. Its game over. It makes me sick how much everyone is pushing the narrative of Jones being the greatest of all time. He's a fucking drug cheat. Game over. This takes the UFC back 30 years.

I really do believe fedor was overated. He sure was a beast in Pride but he had a lukewarm career when performing in the US (where the competition was arguably better - we can compare old records from pride champions who moved to the US and definitely faced more defeats). Unlike Anderson Silva, who fought only top 5 contenders waaaayy past his prime, Fedor fought similar level (post-prime) competition, and failed to gain momentum. He was good - and many saw him as the best in the early 00's -, but, in my opinion, although he was a beast against the early generation of arguably one-sided MMA fighters (who were either good at striking or grappling, but not good at both), he just wasn't as good when facing fighters trained in the more well-rounded post-GSP-era.

I don’t get how anyone can put jones first. The guy clearly lost to Reyes who isn’t a great fighter by any means, same with santos. He struggled to beat a no legged fighter. The rest of his amazing legacy is him fighting an older generation of light heavyweight’s that most of which, went down to middleweight because of their frame and size. Jones was essentially a guy with a heavyweight sized frame beating up older heavy middleweights. Soon as he started fighting the next generation of light heavyweight’s, he struggled way more with his fights against gus as a highlight. All of this whilst being caught juicing on 3 separate occasions, which usually would be either a 5 year to permanent ban from the sport. TJ’s legacy has been almost completely eradicated due to his juicing but at least the guy admitted it and came back and fought with one arm for a title too. This guy threatens testers and beats up women and cry’s on stage about failing but then says oh I never cheated. Guys legacy is fictitious but fans seem to just overlook so much of his transgressions it’s unreal.

I think what’s wild is as the sport goes on we’re going to look back and realize how even mediocre fighters now are way better adapted to the broader game of MMA than 1st and 2nd gen guys could ever have been, but also that progress is never linear and that so many of those old school guys would utterly annihilate if they could be taught new skills and brought back at the peak of their power like Sword Saint Isshin at the end of Sekiro - like imagine Rickson Gracie being revived at his peak and learning to throw kicks with his crazy flexibility or Saku learning to clinch masterfully and throw elbows

@Thial Hoinj hating? Please enlighten me: tell me EXACTLY which sentence I said that wasn’t an objective fact? I’ll return to this comment eagerly. The fact that you call it “hating” while not being able to identify a falsity proves my statement valid. And if it’s valid, you sure you’re not projecting? Maybe you’re not so secure in his status? Meanwhile, your comment has flat out incorrect info. EPO is not “steroids”. Full stop. Please note I said nothing more, nothing less. Anything you add you’ve done on your own to my statement.
Net, I could care less how Henry’s legacy is remembered. I don’t work for him nor am I related. I’m just a guy. But it’s factually accurate that he he fought a Dom 1,000 days beyond his last contest and a DJ who resorted to EPO to cut the final pounds (I was a collegiate runner I’m very familiar with what EPO does which is highly relevant). And I only comment on DJ bc YOU. Notice I never mentioned that fight in my comment. You went out of your way to incorrectly attribute steroids to him to weaponize the status of the win to suit your narrative.

    • @CYMotorsport
      @CYMotorsport Год назад

@Thial Hoinj You brought up EPO, remember? Remember when I anticipated that and made that perfectly clear prior to you attempting this broken logic ? It was obvious you’d cling to that as your olive branch but I already removed it sir. Be a man enough to admit you’re incorrect claiming I brought up ANY thing steroids or EPO. I simply corrected a factual inaccuracy. And even said this prior to your responding. YOU brought up “steroids”.
I also never brought up Dom’s absence in my original comment. Will you knowledge you incorrectly attributed this to me to suit your own rationalization? I simply said yet another objective truth: the fight was stopped at the closing bell of the round which is questionable. Operating word: “questionable”. Fighting through a knockdown if there’s some level of scramble when the shots aren’t sleeping a fighter is expected to granted universally. Before you object, HENRY even said this: “is it me or do all these referees now days stop fights due to knockdowns? Give these guys a opportunity to fight back. A knockdown is not a knockout!” Mind you, he said this in direct response to Kopylov faceplanting Chirico lol so yeah mate that’s questionably even if I’m conservative. That doesn’t even provide commentary on whether I agree or who I think won. Yet you’re getting emotional on a diatribe about excuses. When you are the sole person who introduced a SINGLE one.
I did however reference another fighter. But it wasn’t Dom. Do you really not know who i was referring to? I didn’t say his name bc I figured you were capable of checking which I still believe. I find it odd and interesting you have gone out of your way to move goal posts and avoid the reality that the form of that fighter I referenced has been, unfortunately for his career, blatantly evident.
Answer my question as I said to your response in the first place: what part about ANY of my original comment is inaccurate? Stop adding things that YOU offered up without thinking the ramifications of your own argument prior to introducing.
Below is my original comment bc you don’t seem to be referencing facts anymore. Please consult the below:
“… Took an interim strap over a guy who has lost 6 of his last 7 only to defend a very questionable stoppage a couple seconds before the round ends.“
And again, just so you don’t feel the urge to anger type without thinking: tell me what sad factually Incorrect in my original statement that constitutes an excuse. Please don’t run or side step or move goal posts. You made a claim I’m holding you firmly to it to answer and I will refresh this often to read your response. I respected you enough to be specific and on topic. I ask you afford me the same courtesy. Or in the least I’ll take your honesty and not more lies.

She lost because she was recovering from Covid, she looked pale and wasn’t fighting at her best and tapped when she could’ve kept on fighting.

Three things that halted Khabib's legacy
      Injuries:
When he beat the future lw chap prime RDA at age 24 back in 2014 he was just couple months away from achieving his dream but major injuries kept him sidelined for 2 years and the man was contemplating whether he should retire but his father convinced him
      Dana's Privilege:
In 2016 Khabib was suppose to be scheduled against Eddie Alvarez for the lw title, but Dana gifted the fw champ Conor (who has yet to defended his belt) a title shot at lw and after beating Eddie held both division for a year and a half boxing Floyd
      Early retirement:
The guy predicted his retirement a decade ago at 24 in an interview and won't risk his health any further having grander plan to achieve and another factor that played was Makhachev's time to claim that strap. He could have squeezed in 3 more title defenses if it wasn't for the 9 months suspension, COVID and his late Father dying who meant everything to him.

He rocked him which made him stumble a bit, then he started putting more pressure on him to startle him, then he sweeps his leg which makes him fall to the ground for Jones to dominate. @jamessurnamepending1239 5 месяцев назад

@Buskeeeeeeee sorry for my late reply, someone actually reported me for hate speech for saying Jon Jones wasn't the GOAT which I gotta admit is hilarious.
While Jones' fight IQ is very good, I just don't think you can compare it to someone like GSP. The speed and creativity of his combinations are far beyond Jon Jones. Yes, he's very brutal but I think that more comes down to the fact he genuinely enjoys hurting and upsetting people, whereas GSP wanted his opponents to be hurt as little as possible. GSP could still pinpoint and exploit even the smallest weakness, as we saw the few times he actually wanted to hurt people, so I don't think Jon Jones has anything on him there.
I think a better comparison is Dimitrious Johnson, who had the same fight IQ and also wasn't afraid to hurt his opponents. Just look at how fast he follows up his attacks. He knows exactly how his opponents are going to react and is already throwing a knee to finish them off or getting ready to take them down. Hell, just look at his flying armbar, that's probably the best display of martial arts skill I have ever seen.
I think that when you combine the fact that these two match his IQ and overall have more grappling and boxing skill with the fact they never tested positive for PEDs, never ducked a fight and never had a loss that was counted as a decision win, its pretty clear Jon Isn't on the same level.
      I'd say he's tier 3

IMO Anderson Silva is the GOAT and I'll tell you why. None of these guys remained undefeated until they were 38 years of age. Jones is 35, after he turned 30 he fought only 4 times and arguably lost 2 of those fights, failed drug tests multiple times IN HIS PRIME. When Anderson failed his test he was already past 40 and he had broken his leg in half so that's irrelevant. Anderson was the most dominant champ in his prime, he never lost in his prime, never struggled against any opponent (he fought a juiced up Chael with a cracked rib and still managed to win), he beat multiple champs and was a very complete fighter, killer muay thai, great jiu jitsu, great boxing, great clinch, titanium chin, great cardio. I love Jones but getting suspended multiple times, fighting once a year and having long lay offs don't make you the GOAT, it's easy to keep your record if you're not fighting, Anderson Silva was fighting 2 to 3 times a year defending his belt when he was Jone's age.

Although I can't help but think that Ronda Rousey would have been the perfect inclusion into the 5th tier as she didn't fight a high level of competition but she shaped the sport and had a massive win streak. Also Joanna probably deserved to be on the 5th tier as well. I would have moved Shevchenko up at least one tier.

Tier 1 is Jones no doubt. Tier 2 you have to add Stipe. In Tier 3 we remove Khabib (it's an insult to put him next to DC and Fedor) and Adesanya (also insulting to be near DC and Fedor) and you like it or no you need to add McGregor (double champ, conquered a weight class, got bored of it and moved up, then lost his entire focus for the boxing money and didn't recover, but he already had done enough to be Tier 3), and soon another guy in Tier 3 is expected to be Volkanovski, imo he already should be because he got robbed against Islam. Tier 4 is where guys like Khabib and Adesanya fit, extremely talented but have not really proven themselves at the top of the top.

A true legend was Anderson.. Unfortunately both for his fighting and then stupidity.. It was incredible how devastating Silva would become; and incredibly stupid that he lost, then got injured and had to retire, all because of his taunting.. It's about trying to make it look easy for some fighters, but that and or taunting can lead to a whole career thrown away, as Anderson Silva would prove.. So disappointed that he didn't get to show us his full talent and career, as he had a fighting ability I don't think anyone else ever quite matched up to!
