One thing I'd like to correct. Cain Velasquez was not granted parole, but bail. Which unfortunately, there is a big difference. If Cain were granted parole, this would mean that he had already been to court, been convicted, and sentenced to prison, and then granted parole which would mean he is free from prison conditional upon him not violating the conditions of his parole (no trouble, no drugs, etc) for a brief period of time. Unfortunately, he's not settled the charges in court, so he is potentially going to go BACK inside, and actually go to prison for a number of years before he is technically free and done with this horrible situation. It honestly looks like unless there's some miracle - a clerical error, a legal error by the prosecutors in handling evidence, or something that could cause a mistrial, then he is likely facing at least 5 years in prison, if not closer to a decade.

@@ajax3310yeah that was gross and weird as fuck. Pat literally said himself that it was "love at first sight" at that "first sight" wouldve been before she was 17.
Very good iceberg video. However you missed the “Get in the Hole” story Chael Sonnen told in his podcast several years ago. In the story, Chael’s friend “Steve” allegedly forces a guy named Jon to get in a trap hole of an old theatre - a theatre where they would shoot a scene for a wrestling movie -, and Jon gets battered, tied and threatened with a pocket-knife by two other people to get into that hole. The full story is BIZARRE. “Steve” is allegedly a famous UFC judge. There are several comments made by Jon in videos throughout youtube and on facebook in which he confirms the agressor’s identity. Real MMA shit, not for casuals!
Awesome video! You earned a subscriber :) However the Gogoplata part is incomplete. There are more than two Gogoplatas in major MMA promotions alone, perhaps even more in lesser promotions. Nick Diaz's Gogoplata isn't even the first Gogoplata. Shinya Aoki pulled one against Hansen two months prior. Shinya alone has two Gogoplatas (both from the top) - vs. Hansen and Nagata with 18 months difference between both. Another standout is the Heavyweight Brad Imes who has two back to back Gogoplatas in lesser promotions.
24:19 I'll never give up my fight on this front haha it's a good rule and Big John's issue with the whole karate anecdote is seemingly purposefully misplaced. This is probs going to be way too long so sorry (ppl are supposed to say that right?) but it's okay bc this content is so great and gives a platform to think this stuff out loud so thank you for your work. it's one of those things in the UFC lexicon ppl just go with. Probs have to start with the fight itself & how it ended before the rule's inception. it's often forgotten Jones was docked 1 point for the strikes - he wasn't DQed straight away. The fight was to continue but Hamill was awarded the win after he was unable to continue following his dislocated shoulder. So, technically the fight had taken a pause due to purposeful, illegal strikes via 12-6 elbows. Warning or not, it would have been the same outcome. Because in that momentary pause to deduct a point, it became apparent his shoulder was dislocated and he wouldn't be able to continue. Back to Big John - he claims the 12-6 rule was as a result of a karate demonstration but this is a misconception. While that was indeed the anecdote used, the idea behind why this gimmick is effective is the same reason it should be banned. With the head pinned between the point of the elbow and the mat with no where to deflect a powerful strike helped further by gravity, the amount of damage to a localized area is exponentially higher 12-6 to the point of egregious harm that should be avoided. This is especially true when you compare that the surface area an elbow strike covers vs a punch. This is quite literally why 12-6 strikes are so effective in those karate demonstrations. Go ahead right now put the point of your elbow on the table with a piece of paper under it and draw a circle around the contact area. do the same next to it with your fist. Notice the difference. Now add in the sharpness of your elbow with no padding. You're GUARANTEEING skin is ripped from whatever that elbow touches like it was nothing. Net, Karate demonstrations aren't the best anecdote to justify your case solely due to the charlatan nature of how they are often used, but they are gimmick bc there's actual physics involved. It's like saying David Blaines magic is fake. I mean... magic isn't real and many people have spit it up fish into a bowl as a gimmick... but he spent years learning how to hold enormous water & then expel it including fish in a safe manner. The underlying physics are real haha. Finally it comes full circle when John revealed a disagreement he had with Herb Dean who informed Conor 12-6 from guard is illegal in one fight but John before the fight he officiated had approved them. John argued it's LITERALLY 12-6 so from guard it's okay. Herb said that's silly it's still 12-6 if the clock was on the wall. Suggesting john understood 12-6 was less about the angle & EVERYTHING to do the trapped head of the opponent seeing as from bottom guard an elbow can hit an opponent and deflect backwards thus minimizing the blow. pinned against the mat, that can't happen. All that to say, 12-6 elbows are genuinely dangerous and Jones loss is complicated but closer to right than wrong. Fuck me that was too long my bad. oh well too late lol
Dude this is SUCH a stupid comment. You tried really; really hard to make a good point and you utterly failed. Getting elbowed in the head while on the canvas is nowhere near as dangerous as getting hit with a wheel kick to the head or a flying knee as you shoot for a TD. Grow up. You sound like a pseudo intellectual mate.
The issue is that the "helped by gravity" is only relevant if you jump or drop down. From a standing or static position gravity cannot pull the weight of your arm hard enough to cause damage. Say you have 10kg of mass on your arm, given a gravitational accelaration of 9.8 m/s^2 the gravitational pull force will be Fg = 10 * 9.8 = 98 newton. Strikes can generate hundreds, thousands of newton-force. A spinning elbow will generate a lot more energy (but allow an exit for the head unlike the mat).
Just here for the algorithm and extended gratitude for your amazing content. Also very much looking forward to that Guru video you hinted at. Keep at it king! Edit: also, wanna let you know that there are repeated titles in tier 5! Lucky Patrick and Crazy Horse vs Silva to be exact.
1:19:30 most fans miss that Tony did the same move vs RDA a few years earlier. he was really loose, dancing, and "throwing sand" as he was winning the striking exchanges. it was one of his signature quirks, but fans didn't catch onto it until the Gaethje fight & only associate it with him losing
Incredible video. As someone who is new to the UFC and MMA, this video is insanely informative and helped me learn so much about the sport. Keep up the great work
Would also like to see the following on the list 1. Adesanya's saggy tit PED allegations 2. Further Matt Hughes fall from grace with adultery and domestic violence allegations after the train accident and speculation that the train accident was actually attempted suicide. 3. Cody letting it slip that TJ taught alpha male how to do PEDs 4. Jones letting it slip that he beat DC while clean. 5. DC's extra hate for Jones because DC has family that died in a car accident from a drunk driver and Jones' issues with driving under the influence. 6. UFC trying to cover up Kevin Lee's mrsa infection but then DC called it out during the broadcast. 7. Cut man Leon Tabbs not allowed to work ufc events after criticizing ufc fighter pay (or somethinglike that). 8. I'm forgetting the shady stuff about Edmond Tarverdyan and the Glendale fighting club but essentially him being kinda a fraud and what he charged, or didn't charge, for coaching not adding up with his taxes. Something like that.

Izzy v Costa was the second time undefeated vs undefeated for a title happened, if I’m not mistaken, I want to say Rashad v Lyoto at LHW was the first time that has ever happened. As well as I think Cory Hill had the first leg break in the UFC. shoutout for the cameos from accounts like NapoleonBlownApart, dudes one of the best MMA channels on the platform.
I think the vaseline gate with GSP was serious. It went all the way to the commission and it's why we have cut man using it instead of corner man. Whether it was effective or not is besides the point it's the fact that it was done on purpose to gain an advantage.
I think time line should be considered in the evaluation of events more. Some events in a recent 2-3 years are subject to be bumped to the tier above and some that are 10 years or older should be a tier deeper. Some things in tier 2 like Bas Rutten or Pride stuff seem main to a long time follower and but are unknown to newer people. And casual/new Kamzat followers are likely to know about when he wanted to fight Conor.
@@MixedMartialAcademic Just throwing shit at the wall and seeing what sticks if anything. I humbly bow down to your contribution to mma. Thank you for the video.
on the point about Goldberg being fired with no explanation, the exact same thing happened recently in ONE FC. A beloved commentator, Michael Schiavello, who to many is the voice of ONE just stopped commentating after ONE started its expansion into the US with Amazon. I strongly believe they didn't renew his contract because ONE was afraid that his accent and quite verbose style would put off American audiences and he is now replaced with a team of extremely average commentators although ONE still uses Schiavello's voice in 90% of their highlight reels for their fighters. Any time you tweet about a ONE event and mention the commentary being bad, Michael Schiavello likes and retweets it.
I doubt it had anything to do with American audiences being put off by his accent or verbose style. Talkative foreigners aren't exactly rare in the US. Personally I'd much rather listen to Schiavello than the generic announce team ONE currently has. I could see a scenario where Schiavello's contract was running down and he held out for more money from the organization because of deal with Amazon. They might have decided he wasn't worth it. Obviously that's speculation and we'll probably never know what happened.

Eddie's wife has ruined a lot of great fights.
@usmanzaffar4453harsh but true. The screaming is unbearable. Imagine sitting next to her while she’s screaming at full volume 2 feet by your ear
@@Romanus-yea Jesus, even though it’s more respectable now, I can’t imagine buying tickets and getting that.
The best part of this whole thing, is the support you give to the other youtube channels.
Got to give them all love brother!
was about to leave cause the video is too long, stayed for the guru ✡♿💪
Just finished your Ronda Rousey video, which was AWESOME, and now watching this one. I love everything about your videos! Great job!!
What’s crazy is I knew every one of these but still watched it anyway. Very well documented bud
"Let's hope it goes better than last time" -Tommy Vercetti
This isn't Donnie Darko Bud, leave my Galactus name out your f'in mouth
Tommy is that guy
“A disabled ginger”😂
I've been watching UFC for over 15 years now. This was like a walk down memory lane. Thank you for making this
This is literally the greatest intro for any video ever.
Lmao Eddie Alverez wife scream had me rolling !!!😂😂😂
Rose Namajunas who's 17 at the time telling others about someone who is 30 saying things like 'I know we're gonna spend our lives together' is literally a case of grooming in plain sight
“You don’t know their situation! SHE asked HIM out!” as if a 35 year old accepting a date invite from a newly turned 18 year old suddenly makes it not weird
MMAcademic openly defending grooming between Pat right after condemning it between Shevchenko and her coach is some next level copium.
@@ajax3310yeah that was gross and weird as fuck.
Pat literally said himself that it was "love at first sight" at that "first sight" wouldve been before she was 17.
The amount of time spent editing this video 😮 Thumbs up to you brother 👍🏽
Very well made iceberg video about the UFC and MMA. Was really entertained. Awesome vid 🔥🔥
Such a well made video. The editing, information and presentation was on point.
Certainly deserves more views
I’m actually saving it for my Halloween special but it was originally on the list! It’s a great story
@@MixedMartialAcademicoh that’s great! Once again, great video! The best one yet on the matter. Cheers!
Awesome video! You earned a subscriber :)
However the Gogoplata part is incomplete.
It’s funny that Brad Imes unofficial nickname was “Mr.Gogoplata” 😂😂😂
Thanks for adding a bit of nuance to the conversation on the 12-6 bow, and the Jones loss.
You realize how big of a super fan you are when you know exactly what their speaking of
Congrats 🎉 my friend great video ❤❤
Easily the best NordVPN ad I've ever seen.
Thanks so much man! More to come! And yes sir he is in my crosshairs lol
Did not expect to hear Michael Chandler say out loud unironically "come down his throat" 🤣🤣🤣
You know what? If Tapout isn't in this it's incomplete. They were annoying AF, but their loss was tragic.
Thank you for this, Ben deserves respect and your video gives him all that and more. Great video.
The Ubereem segment was absolute gold 😂🙌
Porcelain Death Star 😆😆😆
What a fantastic video! I knew about 90% already which surprised me, however i didn't know about Shevchenkos coach and her sister! Brilliantly put together, rarely do i sit through a video longer than 20 minutes let alone 2hrs but this had me gripped!

The story of Nick Diaz fighting to honour his girlfriend was beautiful 1:27:36 - 1:30:25
I love how much respect amd love Eddie Alverez has for his wife. Its really nice to hear.
Great breakdown! You have some of the most articulate breakdowns out there. Thanks brother.
RIP Josh Samaan. Such a hard story to hear, much love to him and his girlfriend and their families.
Great stuff. I've heard about very nearly everything in this video..which is fun to recognize. Satisfying to go through. Well paced and presented. I can imagine rewatching this.
PLEASE MAKE AN MMA GURU VIDEO. We need to chronicle his journey of how he became disabled and what made him convert to being a Jew!
No matter where I go, from board games to UFC, Karl Casey is there being the soundtrack to my YT experience.
YT has introduced me to a hard working, fresh, and ingenuitive artist.
Very slick ad transition, good job get your coin king. Also, you should be linking your previous videos on screen when you bring the topic up.
That's a good idea!
Damn nicks story about his girl hit different. I had heard his story before but for some reason it never hit like it did this time, that’s some wild shit
Mitrione did an awesome job of describing the results of grooming
Pretty much lol
The fan getting Rory’s old number and picking his music could be something from a tv show
Imagine being a purse thief and turning around to see JON BONES JONES hunting you down 😂
Jon Jones wandering around NJ looking for a solid Meditation spot and turning into Batman and saving some random lady from a robbery is just about the funniest gd thing I've heard in some time
Izzy v Costa was the second time undefeated vs undefeated for a title happened, if I’m not mistaken, I want to say Rashad v Lyoto at LHW was the first time that has ever happened. As well as I think Cory Hill had the first leg break in the UFC.
shoutout for the cameos from accounts like NapoleonBlownApart, dudes one of the best MMA channels on the platform.
The Ubereem quote is the pinnacle of written word. Thank you for letting it be! Lol
Napoleon is a real one!
I think the vaseline gate with GSP was serious. It went all the way to the commission and it's why we have cut man using it instead of corner man. Whether it was effective or not is besides the point it's the fact that it was done on purpose to gain an advantage.
Please read my comment about Tapout. That being said, I plan to show this video to my unborn children. Good work.
Napoleon is the only creator I'm a patron for. Dudes MMA stuff is hilarious, but really well done
Jon Jones and Steroids vs Cormier.
It's hard to guage man for sure, i struggled with placement, but ultimatley tried my best to satisfy everyone!
Great video, loved it. Steve Mazzagatti reffed Jones vs. Hamill, but it's a class video besides that! 👊🔥
This is some high quality stuff! 👏
