I think most people don't 'get' Defeated Sanity... this album was one of my most cherished last year, when we had it in a soundcheck, the main score was close to mediocre. And I listen to most Death Metal bands today and they sound almost all the same to me. Lilles weird time signatures, fills, accents, even the way he positions his stick placement to get different sounds out of the snare, incorporating the rim or whatever, but also in the guitarwork and basswork, the lyrics, this is all shit NO ONE else in the scene is doing at the moment, least to my awareness. and it just elevates this thing to me, makes it more interesting than the next OSDM or shredding Tech Death group. There is no idea, no grit, no personality to it, it is simply copying what other bands have already *and arguably often better* done. This on the other hand is truly the vision of musicians content in their vision and what they want to achieve, they truly make death metal their own thing.
Have you ever listened to Ulcerate or Malignancy? They, along with Defeated Sanity are three of the most innovative bands in metal right now. All three exploring unique territory that nobody else is really pushing into.
great compliment thank you! I do feel, Metal is running out of ideas honestly and instead trying to be as crazy/fast/weird as possible without really writing a song. Sometimes the non-song thing is sick though like with the Scaphism 4-way split on NSE for example

Here's something you never hear on RUclips: the sound of a drummer playing extreme metal in a room. Nice to hear actual acoustic drums in a space. Most likely gridded and replaced in DAW for the album anyway. Oh well.
apart from blending triggered and natural kicks (im guessing) the final product isn't hit replaced or gridded whatsoever. very natural drum sound. check out The Sanguinary Impetus
