    Thanasis Koulis(Open Mind Designers IMA):
    The clowns,as you say, are practicing the exercise of blocking,deflecting and and applying kick in action and it is a part of the leg work.It can be practised as a two set exercise on other levels I believe as a transposition of concepts.
    Thank you for your comment

    Let see what we learned from this video: Balance, control, sensitivity, chin na (Chinese Limb locking for those not in the know), Limb resistance (if you can't stand you can't strike) and breathing. What I learned from the comments below: Ignorance is really bliss....

    Baguazhang- there are a few different schools of this form of Internal Kung Fu, each placing more or less emphasis on various aspects of the art. Some are more geared towards fighting and self-defense and other schools are more meditative. Bagua had started off as a form of moving meditation and the fighting applications were folded in later, mostly by Dong Haichuan. Most Bagua schools trace their lineage back to him. In Martial Arts History, Bagua is a relatively young art. It is still somewhat rare in both the US. and Europe, it is much more common in China where it originated in Taoist Monasteries. A true Bagua fighting lineage is known for extreme speed, flexibility, the means to take on multiple opponents at once and the skill to use almost anything that can be picked up as a weapon. In that way it is a little similar to Arnis. It doesn't look much like MMA or Karate. It has some kinship with Chen style Tai Chi and most people who can fight with it effectively started with Xingyi Quan first. It is somewhat difficult to learn and quite demanding, also slightly addictive. For the skeptics and the ignorant, several schools will accept challenge matches. Most of the line that comes from Wang Shujin will be happy to put you on your backside. Wang had an extensive body count, mostly karateka who came from Japan and returned to Japan in a box. Also known for fighting is the line that comes from Liang Zhenpu, that lineage should also accept challenge matches. But they have nothing to prove. If you think you can teach them a lesson, you can go find them, they are not hard to find, you keyboard warriors. In this video, the two students are doing Rou Shou, Bagua's equivalent of Tai Chi push hands. It is not freestyle sparring, it's an exercise and they are working on certain body mechanics.

    Can anyone who might have some knowledge about Baguazhang tell me what these guys are doing wrong since the are such clowns..?

    • @beambullseye
      @beambullseye 4 года назад +1

      Nothing since this isn’t traditional BaguaZhang and is actually the Yang Dragon Pak Kua Push Hands Drill, also those clowns include Jerry Allen Johnson an Esteemed Grandmaster of Pak Kua and Bagua so I wouldn’t be talking shit without doing the research 😅

      This video this of a video made in 1990. Your telling a guy from 27 years ago to get a modern hair cut... you have to realize how stupid that sounds... but then again maybe you are to dumb to realize it...

      El Patron I think it’s funnier that someone is watching a martial arts video and is worried about such trivial things as someone else’s hair style

    • @Chunda8
      @Chunda8 7 месяцев назад

      Aikido is exactly a mix of Daito-ryu and Baguazhang, Bagua is one of Aikido's parents. For my money it is Aikido's mother.
