The graphic options, the sound volume, but then there's other misc options as well, such as the one that turns off the blood..? Yeah, in Terraria, there's an option to turn off blood. Because video games cause violence and stuff maybe... and turning it off is a total humor.

Sometimes it's nice because you can be sure loot isn't hiding behind gore. I turn gore off when I want something from an event, where there are so many enemies dying that it's hard to tell what's being dropped

completely forgot how long it lasts in vanilla. if you play modded i recommend nyccs nohit mod, in the mod config you can change how long gore and dust lasts

Fun fact: that option also disables npc lines that are more "suggestive", so its basically a "kids mode" of some sort.

Being able to turn off gore and blood doesn't only make things family-friendly, but also reduce lag from it, pretty sure most players that have low-spec devices uses this option (including me), though not all particles were completely removed, which a performance-optimizer mod comes into play

The turn off gore is very useful like against very lagging boss to make the game more fluid
Still, the Chinese Terraria texture packs manage to bring bosses, even if quite different than the original ones, that hide the giga eyeballs, blood and all of the bosses, while still keeping their original *Terraria feeling* .

I wish the gore off mode would change the sprites of the bosses into their Chinese counterparts. That would be genuinely interesting.
its quite useful in jungle temple to be able to see the pressure plates counting how much killing you do

I think this setting makes stuff like Crimson, Corruption, and Blood Moons more exciting.
When the game is brutal and bloody these feel like normal things, they don't feel like scary events. When you turn off blood it makes these feel like terrifying places, giant corpses, and the Wall of Flesh is actually terrifying.
Subverting expectations leads to some of the best moments people have had in games.

I generally don't like overly bloody games, I have this option off 24/7.
This is just how the game looks normally for me, everything dies in a poof of smoke.
The crimson and blood moon are plenty.
I'm also pretty sure that spiders die normally with this option on. It might be patched now, haven't tested it.
Feels like it beats the point to swap out the excess particle effects with a different kind of excess particle effect

Gore, I like splash of blood. Nothing grinds my gears as seeing guts and blood slash everywhere. I like violence Yes blood
It might be useful for dreadnaughtilus, its projectiles are much easier to see with that option
I use it for convenience, because bodies hide items sometimes, so basically clarity and it slightly helps performance
I'm quite glad this option is there, as I don't particularly seeing gore everywhere. The cancer-like Crimson doesn't bother me that much, though.
i use this because i thought the discombobulated pieces of an enemy would lag the game so i turned that option on
Wait that means dreadnoughtilous is actually way easier with gore off since the most difficult part with his fight is seeing the dark blood projectiles in the dark red background that sometimes even rains blood
So having white and light red projectiles makes it way clearer to see... That's an interesting way to farm him

This option was the only reason I was allowed to play the game at a young age. Now im used to it so I still have gore off.
I keep it off because im not a fan of blood and corpses. Nothing wrong with that
I have it turned off on mobile to reduce lag, the dust disappears faster and I swear there's a lot less particles overall
Its more focused on optimization then censoring things like blood, if that was the case the option would make the game like chinese terraria, that literally changes even bosses sprites.
Still a pretty good option if you have crappy pc.
I do appreciate the option to play a less gory Terraria, anyway.

i usually keep gore off to try and reduce lag as much as possible
I keep the option off to prevent lag because my computer isn't the greatest. Also while I'm not disturbed by gore I'm also not so attached to body parts flying around that I would miss it being on.

Back when I was into Steven universe I used this option because I really loved gems "death" animation being a *poof* and this sorta looks similar

I usually use this when using Fargo or any mod with something that boosts spawns to an unreasonable amount so that loot doesn't get covered by the gore and when in farms it helps my potato computer stay alive.

They should add an option where blood and gore is permanent on your world until you close the game or turn the option back off

I used to turn it on when I had a toaster that lagged out a lot in this game. Effectively as an attempt to increase performance.
I use it because it reduces lag slightly :)

When I was playing terraria at the age of 8 my dad took away the option of blood and gore
to this day I sometimes activate it even though I am already 15 years old

When I first played Terraria back in 2020, I had Blood and Gore turned off so the game wouldn’t lag from all the bits. Nowadays though, I keep it on for the full experience.
