Actually, crafting the soul of Terraria manually is just a bad idea all around. Champions, that appear after moon lord allow you to easily get all the lesser souls for it. All others souls can be crafted easily.

Honestly a mod could add the Moon Lord Legs as a final boss. A floor of countless spawning tentacles that arises from the bottom of the map. Maybe some eyes or something as a weak spot that reveals itself every few seconds?
Honestly, a cooler, and less jokey, idea would be to make it actually a _ginormous_ falling moon that won't let you move past it. Of course, we could make it _more_ than just a moon, maybe giving it more eldrich, celestial, or organic qualities, or giving it a background silhouette similar to that one final boss from Metal Slug... Was it 5, 6, or something else...? Can't quite remember, but anyway, from there, perhaps giving it more graceful movement and different looking moves would make thing much cooler. Also maybe giving it a much more interesting, less weaksauce, and a more fitting summoning method might work too, not just "standing on specific block in front of specific wall, blah blah blah..." You could still use Pandora's Box for it, but with a different method to the madness. And also, the "You are forced to die over and over again if you can't keep up with it" sounds not only both tedious and unfun, but also too cheesable at the same time. Probably just making it work more similar to the Wall of Flesh would probably help some more. Well, at least, that's my idea. ...And being able to spawn multiple seems like just too much, and too different from every other boss, but that's just my two cents. However, that idea was scrapped by Re-logic's crew and decided to make the Moon Lord the final boss of Terraria as we know today. So perhaps this would most likely be the concept of what it was originally going to be like... A ceiling Moon Lord...
i saw this before me and my friend started terreria and was like "yeah im pretty sure you fight the ceiling" and he wouldnt stop bugging me about it after we spent 15 minutes getting to the skybox, after hardmode started i thought i confused the wall of flesh for a ceiling, but then when we first summoned the moon lord (and got destroyed) i was like "no the ceiling boss looked like that but a ceiling" and i finally found it was a thumbnail i saw for a mod, wow...
He's actually a fairly easy boss, just need a good weapon then you literally get infinite platnum. Although if you have Joost mod money isn't a problem...
well, if you’re playing 1.3 without zenith and you wanna defeat him for platinum, you should probably get something from calamity or another mod. (that being said, it’s highly likely exo mechs or other bosses in calamity drop much more.)
You can found it randomly too in the pandora, not by just using that trick, this is a personal experience and I got traumatized, I didn't even killed the moonlord in that run.
Imagine if once you defeat the Ceiling of Moon Lord, you just don't get lunar events. Moon cycle? Doesn't exist. Blood Moons? No moon. Solar Eclipse? There's nothing in the way.
Okay so in order to fight the Ceiling of Moonlord, you have to defeat the Lunatic Floor in order to start the Celestial Windows event. You have to defeat all 4 windows in order to summon the Ceiling of Moonlord.
tbh, that's a nice idea for a boss, i like the idea of a boss that attempts to crush you from above and that requires some major terraforming Reminds me of Downwell's final boss

minion idea: floor of the sun lord i have no idea how the minion would act, but its not necessarily a minion. you can summon it with an item and it goes from the bottom of the world to the top clearing out enemies as it goes, and now, that we have what the video showcased... *fight.*
