I've been a customer in the Envato community for over 8 years and have purchased over 200 items for my RUclips channel during that time. I'd rather not use Envato for music anymore. I HIGHLY recommend for everything else.

Because they have been bombarding me with Copyright claims for music I paid for and used in livestreams 7 years ago. Sometimes the title in the claim does not match the title I have on the license and I have to go through hundreds of songs by ear before I can figure out which license to send them in the dispute (which they normally don't even respond to for the 30-Day window). Very time consuming. I paid for the licenses and after all these years they're trying to take my ad revenue.@@Digitalnomad700

I use Envato Elements for my clients. It's a good platform, the only thing I don't like is that the video would not generate any money until you dispute the claim.
So you'll have to be careful when you receive the claim, so that you can dispute it right away.
Otherwise if you're not careful or you don't have acces to your computer for a few days, the video will make views but will not generate any money.
For example, Epidemic Sounds let you put your channel link and you're free of any copyright claims. You don't have to manually disput every claim.
I'd rather not use Envato for music. For photos, stock footage, sound effects etc it's still a good platform.

In my early days i used Envato elements for music tracks and disputed a fair few tracks with Licenses. Sometimes the owners will reject the claim, its a bit of scam really, so as long as your video remains public the owners get paid and not you, providing you are monetized that is!

I use a piece of music that I licensed from Envato for my opening sequence, which appears on every video I post. I get a copyright claim on every - single - video, even though the copyright owner releases their claim, eventually. The problem is that the release often takes weeks to complete and is such an annoyance that I am looking at changing the music for something that I didn't purchase from Envato. My experience has been so negative that I have no intention of using Envato in the future.

    • @LearnSharePhotoVideo
      @LearnSharePhotoVideo  5 месяцев назад

Sorry to hear that, and thanks for sharing it here.
      Here’s something to remember:
Envato, like any other stock website, has no control over the third-party platforms the authors of these music tracks use to keep an eye of for where their tracks are used.
Envato is just a library that makes these awesome kinds of content available to us.
The release of a claim is dependent on when the person who makes the track, decides to release it. So for example, if that person has a regular day job that keeps them busy, it all comes down to “when” they see that email, and “when” they click “Release”.
I hope this gives some clarity. Looking forward ti hearing from you 🙏🏽

I wish this information was still relevant but sadly, it is no longer. RUclips's own Creator Music Licensing will now compete for licensing control over your included copyright content with Envato Elements Licensing. In many cases the copyright owner (HAAWK for a 3rd party) now has competing licensing requests from multiple sources (both RUclips and Envato) for the same video content submitted and will suspend your video progress into eternal Escrow status. This process gets even more convoluted if you delete your offending video and re-submit it to RUclips. This is a clunky and awkward process that desperately needs overhauling as well as some oversight from all the 3rd party licensing brokers that compete for your lucrative licensing dollars.

Anyone with money enough for a lawyer can tell you that you can't compose your own version of a familiar or popular chord pattern. The Lynyrd Skynyrd copyright owners challenged my uptempo generic blues jam because it was like "Call Me the Breeze." What a bunch of chickenshit crap from what should be an ethical bunch of white guys that made a livin off black music.
Fact is, I don't use RUclips to amass views, I just don't care. It's a place where I can store and exhibit my talent. I don't get audited enough to put my channel in trouble and nobody is making money on RUclips anyway, that's a pipedream. I've had three things challenged in about 5 years of posting music videos and I've disputed a few of them using the same argument used during the "Stairway to Heaven" case involving Randy California.
That progression had a long history, as do all pop chord progressions based on the same 5 chords in any key. When I compose a song with lyrics, those phrases are completely different from anything done in the past and never mimic a melody form the past. You can't copyright a chord progression, but with enough money you can whine to a judge that a short section is identical to something that you've done. The logical trend wants to continue this renaissance, but who will pay the copyright lawyers for nothing?
