Daniel - How wonderful! My grandson and I have been watching Leo's videos together, and he has been studying the violin for several years, so this is a welcome coming together of interests. We met you at the Maker Fair at UofL this past fall (he noted to me later that the bow needed rosin). Thanks for such a clear sense of your process.
Oh thats great!! I hope you enjoy the video and who knows I may do that event again and we can chat. (Yeah I borrowed my wifes bow last minute that day. Didnt think to grab her rosin)
I used to be a boat builder and sailor, plus I've always loved classical music. So it was a pleasure to watch all the Tally Ho Violin videos for the 2nd time. It's also a real pleasure to watch such an incredible craftsman. Daniel, you can be proud of your amazing work. Well done!
What a delight to watch the process! Makes me want my Cello back which I've stopped playing when I was 18 unfortunately. If I'd seen how such an instrument is made think I would not have stopped. What an art!
Way to go man. Clearly you’ve made some beautiful things before but I bet this never gets old. This type of content is where the internet shines. Thanks for sharing what you do.
If I could hit the thumb up button 10 times I would do it! Sir you have my respect.. you trully are an artist.. and btw the dude playing the violon at the end is aslo a special kind of human!
Really enjoyed this build. It was a real eye opener to see such precision hand crafting. And I’m looking forward to seeing the Duchess of Desire dancing to fiddle music.
Wow! I am absolutely amazed at the community that Tally Ho has brought together. That fiddle is truly a thing of beauty, what a treasure, what a gift. Thanks for taking me along on the journey.
A beautiful instrument created from the raw wood contents of a cardboard box. Shaped into creation and endowed with a soul by a master of the art. From this beautiful violin will spring forth vibrations of wondrous music across the seas that will lift the hearts of those who sail Tally Ho.
Thank you, Daniel, for taking us along on this journey of your fine art wood work, crafting such beautiful sounding Violine! It sets the dot onto the i of Tally Ho, masterfully crafted by our beloved shipwright Leo and his team! We all hope your Violine will become Tally Ho’s lucky charme for all its future adventures and underline her voyages with its beautiful sound! Fair winds to you all!❤️🙏
I binged myself sick with envy on the Tally Ho fiddle project. The demonstrations, the construction techniques and the supporting commentary and visuals are packed with so much information it’s a tremendously valuable document of human knowledge and craft. Loved it.
My brother and sister played string instruments. Brother did violin, and sister did cello. After watching this I have a much better appreciation for why my dad was so nuts about "being gentle" with these instruments. and there is no TH in height....
Just a beautiful vignette of construction from raw materials to a playable instrument. The complexity belies the simplicity you made it seem. No wait of two years here!!! Congratulations
Thank you so much for taking us along as you build such a beautiful instrument. The maps inside were an unbelievably magical touch, and so unexpected. You are a gifted craftsman.
Thank you for sharing this series with us it was absolutely first class in all respects. The masterpiece you created is worthy of a Tally Ho seal of approval.
GREAT JOB!!!.EVERY BODY THAT HAS CONTRIBUTED TO THIS PROJECT HAS BEEN EXCEPTIONAL!!!.AND YOU ARE NO DIFFERENT....YOU HAVE BECOME A PART OF SOMETHING VERY SPECIAL...THANKS 😀 👍 👏
I'm absolutely blown away with your craftsmanship! Thank you for sharing all of the steps on building this instrument. I never knew how one was made. And I can't wait to hear it and see it on Leo's channel in the future. Thank you Daniel!
From blocks of wood to a violin, beautiful work, from a modern day craftsman. These 6 videos have been very informative and enjoyable, the end result was a wonderful sound. A great addition to Tally Ho.
Thanks, man. Nice instrument, although I'm not a music guy. But I know how to recognise a wood guy who does know a thing or two. And you helped out Tally Ho! Thanks for that. [EDIT: 2 weeks later - love watching two hands make a thing of beauty, and then two hands making something just as beautiful from that thing]
Having watched Samson Boat for years, i have never seen anyone play the fiddle, its not like a ukelele and anyone can quickly pick up. Got a feeling it won't be on the boat for long.
I am watching this last episode Again, because the whole thing was too dang short. You’ve created a masterpiece to go along with Tally Ho, which is a masterpiece itself !
Thanks! Well stay tuned I will be putting some more little series out like this. Ive thought about doing a truly tally ho themed one to auction off. What do you think?
Thanks Daniel, that was incredible to watch. I can't wait to hear Leo play it. I know he was a busker in his younger years, but he has never played on the show. This is a chance to finally see him play. I look forward to watching more of your videos. Take care.🎼🎻
Oh!.. Oh!.. WOW! It must hurt intensely to be grinning so hard after hearing your "shredder" "really put the wood to it." What more can one say...I'll just listen. Thank you so much for your love, your passion, and skill in making a fine and meaningful instrument of joy. Anchors Away!
Would be great if Greg could be there at the launch of Tally Ho playing sea shanties when she hits the water. What a great series you have put together, your soul is in that instrument forevermore. ❤
