Would be great if Greg could be there at the launch of Tally Ho playing sea shanties when she hits the water. What a great series you have put together, your soul is in that instrument forevermore. ❤
I appreciate that!
Just a beautiful vignette of construction from raw materials to a playable instrument. The complexity belies the simplicity you made it seem.
No wait of two years here!!!
Congratulations
Thanks! Maybe the next one will be ready in two years haha.
Really enjoyed this build. It was a real eye opener to see such precision hand crafting.

It sets the dot onto the i of Tally Ho, masterfully crafted by our beloved shipwright Leo and his team! We all hope your Violine will become Tally Ho’s lucky charme for all its future adventures and underline her voyages with its beautiful sound!
Fair winds to you all!❤️🙏
Thank you for the kind words! I appreciate it. Thanks so much for following along!
I came here ignorant of anything involving instrument building and learned a lot. I'm a dedicated follower now! Thanks for the education.
Im glad you are along for the ride!
So impressive. You’ve got serious skills. Which is good because they match Leo’s. He’s got to love this.
Oh thanks so much! I sure hope he does!
@@JDanielGraham don’t worry, he will. What a very generous gesture on your part.
Wonderful job, great contribution. I hope your work is more widely appreciated. You should DEFINITELY be there for the launch!!

Wow!
I am absolutely amazed at the community that Tally Ho has brought together.
That fiddle is truly a thing of beauty, what a treasure, what a gift.
Thanks for taking me along on the journey.
Thanks so much for following along!
Daniel - How wonderful! My grandson and I have been watching Leo's videos together, and he has been studying the violin for several years, so this is a welcome coming together of interests. We met you at the Maker Fair at UofL this past fall (he noted to me later that the bow needed rosin). Thanks for such a clear sense of your process.
Oh thats great!! I hope you enjoy the video and who knows I may do that event again and we can chat. (Yeah I borrowed my wifes bow last minute that day. Didnt think to grab her rosin)
stunning. the build has been very enjoyable to watch. Thank you for sharing your craft
You are most welcome! Thanks for watching
Well done indeed, what a lovely thing to give to Tally Ho.
Thanks! I appreciate it.
What a teacher and what craftsmanship!!
I appreciate that! Thanks
I am watching this last episode Again, because the whole thing was too dang short. You’ve created a masterpiece to go along with Tally Ho, which is a masterpiece itself !
Thanks! Well stay tuned I will be putting some more little series out like this. Ive thought about doing a truly tally ho themed one to auction off. What do you think?
Beautiful job on the violin. A fine addition to Tally Ho!
I appreciate it!
A beautiful gift for a wonderful project. She sounds so good and I'm sure will share many an anchorage with friends aboard Tally Ho!
I appreciate that!
Amazing to watch the construction of this beautiful instrument. Gives me a new found respect for the people who make these instruments, such a manual and physical work
It sure is! Thanks for watching!
You have created an amazing bright and vibrant toned instrument a skill beyond measure. Thank you for sharing this build with us and I look forward to hearing it played on tally ho videos in the future.
I appreciate it! Thanks so much for watching and following along.
Turned out beautiful and that was fun to watch, thanks for sharing!
Thanks! You are most welcome!
OMG that was freeking awesome. Fiddle sounds amazing too. I'm no professional but I know what my ears like.
So glad you liked it!
Very nice indeed! Tally Ho's open house is tomorrow, but after several hours at the Port Townsend Wooden Boat Festival today, I'm not sure my bum knee is up to standing in the queue. I'll see how I feel in the morning. Looking forward to seeing Leo's video when he receives the fiddle.
I hope Leo has a place to keep the moisture from warping this beautiful instrument. It's going to be a challenge being on a sailing boat but with a good case and some packets of moisture absorbing material it should be safe from the moisture . I can hardly wait to see Leo play this amazing gift.Leo you are a blessed man with all the wonderful people who have helped you on this project and now are gifting you a great gift .
I loved these 6 episodes very much. The workmanship, the pace, the style and music were excellent.
Im so glad. I am looking at making more so stay tuned!
Wow! I’m so much in awe in what you’ve made out of some wood “scraps”. Huge props! Leo and crew are gonna love it, man!
Thanks so much!
Wow! It came out so nice. Loved watching your process and seeing the results. Can't wait to see it played on the boat!
Thanks so much!
The fiddle will fit Tally Ho perfectly. I found my foot tapping to the tunes. Well done!
So glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you for sharing the creating of this gorgeous instrument. Magnificent!
You are most welcome! Glad you enjoyed it!
How beautiful! Very pleased with the entire presentation of this instrument!
I appreciate that! Thanks
Oh!.. Oh!.. WOW! It must hurt intensely to be grinning so hard after hearing your "shredder" "really put the wood to it." What more can one say...I'll just listen. Thank you so much for your love, your passion, and skill in making a fine and meaningful instrument of joy. Anchors Away!
Thanks so much for the kind words! Yes it was so fun and joy filled to see it being played!
Beautiful work and it sounds amazing. Can’t wait to hear it played on Tally Ho
Thanks! Same here!
From blocks of wood to a violin, beautiful work, from a modern day craftsman. These 6 videos have been very informative and enjoyable, the end result was a wonderful sound. A great addition to Tally Ho.
Thanks so much. Im glad you enjoyed the little series. I am looking to do more so stay tuned!
My brother and sister played string instruments. Brother did violin, and sister did cello. After watching this I have a much better appreciation for why my dad was so nuts about "being gentle" with these instruments. and there is no TH in height....
Beautiful job! I'm glad that I found your channel and was able to follow along.
Thanks so much for watching!
I have loved every minute of these 6 episodes. Wonderful to see such craftsmanship! Finally lived the background music too - in episode 6! Congratulations on a job superbly well done - and very much in the spirit og tally ho’s excellence!
Thanks! I am glad you enjoyed them, I am hoping to make more in the future so stay tuned.
BEAUTIFUL! Greg, you need to calendar yourself to be at the launch playing that fiddle at the launch.
I'll let him know!
Beautiful! Thanks for sharing this process with us all!
You are welcome! Thanks for watching!
Congratulations Tally Ho for this beautiful gift from J Daniel Graham. Well Done!
Thanks man I appreciate it
Beautiful! It has such character. And you got the best endorsement ever at the end by the terrific player: "It's got such a good sound to it, dude." I agree!
I'm so impressed ! You have a gift obviously!
Thanks so much!
Just amazed at the craftsmanship some people have, watching the love you have making instruments is what perfection is all about. Such a fitting instrument for the Tally Ho and can' wait to see Leo's expression when he sees it.
I can't wait either! thank you
A work of art to go along with another work of art Tallt Ho
Thank you for sharing the journey 😊
Enjoyed your craftsmanship on the fiddle.
Thanks so much!
Great wee series ! Can't wait to see it on Talley Ho.
Same here! Should be more series to come so stay tuned.
Loved this. I've followed Tally Ho, all of it, and shared with family and friends. This is such a fantastic addition to the story. Kudos.
Well done JD, what a beautiful piece for this wonderful yacht
Thanks so much
Just gorgeous; and I learned so much from watching, too. Thanks!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you so much for taking us along as you build such a beautiful instrument. The maps inside were an unbelievably magical touch, and so unexpected. You are a gifted craftsman.
I appreciate that! Thanks so much!
I don't know if it's just the way the sound comes through the camera mic, but it's such a bright and lively sounding instrument! What a fantastic result.
She is a loud one that is for sure. I was happy with how it turned out.
Nice piece of work and it's so amazing all the people who have been brought together through such an interesting adventure. Absolute blessing to be able to appreciate the skills of so many others you might otherwise never know about.
I think the same thing as I see so many craftspeople gather around the Tally Ho project. I am thankful to be apart of that!
Amazing craftsmanship - beauftiful result …love the sound. Hope to see the fiddle color contrast change as the cherry darkens (love cherry)
Thanks, and same here I can't wait to see it age! Well I would like to see it later in life but who knows.
❤❤❤in 1968 my fingers on my left hand. Have forever wanted to play a string instrument.
Watching this has been incredible. Thank you for sharing.
Have you thought about playing a banjo!! They are great and I know people with just a couple fingers that play them
What a delight to watch the process! Makes me want my Cello back which I've stopped playing when I was 18 unfortunately. If I'd seen how such an instrument is made think I would not have stopped. What an art!
You should totally start playing again. There are some reasonable cello out there these days. So glad you enjoyed the videos.
You do such fine work that anyone would be proud to own this violin or fiddle.
Thanks so much!
really enjoyed watching this, such craftsmanship
That is a beautiful finish love the grain on it. I used to finish staircases and trim and love seeing the different grains. I want to see Leo's face when he sees it. Awesome gift Daniel
Thanks! Well he just got it a couple days ago. Can't wait to see it on the boat.
Incredible craftsmanship!🇨🇦
I appreciate it!
Great work, it has real character.
For a new violin, that sounds wonderful.
Yeah I can't wait to hear and see it age. Well I would like to run across it again in the future.
Well done ....fantastic craftsmanship. Leo will love it.
Awesome video series. Thank you for sharing with us. Beautiful work.
Loved watching you bring to life such an elegant musical instrument. I'm dumfounded and in awe...well done kind sir!
Thanks so much for that.
Barry Dransfield wanted to be in Mel Gibson “Mutiny On The Bounty” and came in dressed as a sailor playing I think “Cooley’s Reel” which he played for the sailors to dance in the movie. He and his brother are great English folk singers. Nice work on the fiodh (fiddle)
As a musician and fiddle player a beautiful piece of workmanship!!
I appreciate that! Thanks!
@@JDanielGraham I am interested to know what you would charge for a custom fiddle?
They start at 3,600 and go up from there based on inlay, wood selection, carving etc. Also if it is a crazy cool idea and I get excited about it the price sometimes comes down haha. @@joelhorn5858
thanks for sharing, sorry to see this come to an end, beautiful skills, thank you
You are welcome. I am hoping to make more of these little series so stay tuned!
a finely wrought instrument to be part of what is the orchestra of Tally Ho . i look forward to seeing them play together.

Was awesome to see the build process. 🤘🏻😎🤘🏻
So glad you enjoyed it!
Nice job! Its beautiful!! Thank you so much for letting us see the process.
Thanks for watching!
Beautiful in every way.
I appreciate that.
Bravo! Well done. That is beautiful. It makes me want to learn to play a fiddle.
You totally should!! I am starting to learn this year myself.
That has a VERY Beautiful sound to it! It has fiddle embodied into it rather than violin & I like that.
It seemed fitting. Thanks
Daniel, what a wonderful instrument. So very nicely done, and it looks gorgeous. Leo is going to love it. It certainly matches the craftsmanship that goes into Tally Ho, and I'm sure it will be appreciated by all.
I really appreciate that. Thanks so much!
