Many thousands of years ago I saw an article in modeling magazine. The model was a Testors Land Rover. All painted up,rusted out, seat cushions had springs poking out. It was a fine example of why you do research. Land Rovers have aluminum bodies,no rust and the seats are foam rubber and notorious for being uncomfortable. Look forward to the next chapter Uncle Night Shift.
That's correct. Edd China is painfully restoring a Range Rover on his YT channel. The amount of rust on the chassis was just amazing. Didn't watch the episode dealing with the body, but the ones on the chassis... Dear God. A true rust bucket.
Cool subject to build, I like those easy and less complicated projects. Can't wait for weathering stage because this model bring a looot of possibilities.
This is technically the second AK kit. AK35001 is the hard top SUV version of the FJ43. 35002 is the pickup/technical version you have. Both look like awesome kits that I need in my collection! Killer job on the build, as always!
One of these days, either the curiosity alone, or something else is gonna drive you to do a Gundam, and good god I cannot wait to see your style applied to that, man. I do them myself, and it’s been your style and techniques that’s helped me.
Guntank would be great. Or maybe something from the 40K or Star Wars universe. I just want to see him apply a super realistic paint job to something fantasy, that'd be really cool.
I am rally glad you mentioned your "cheap" air brush. Watching your videos got me into modeling again. I have an older Badger AB, but it is a siphon feed and is not fine enough for fine detailing and I can't spend the money on a pricey option. I will pick up a BD 130 and can finally finish that KV3 that my son built this summer.
As always, great work and video! Regarding your Airbrush, I have swapped to a Pasche Talon. They aren't the cheapest, but nor are they the most expensive, in the US a Talon kit sells for around $120. But what I love is the way they mark all the needles, aircaps, and tips for the appropriate size, and all the parts are MUCH more heavy duty, so they last a very long time and I never have to bust out the micrometer when changing from .5mm to .2mm to make sure I have all the right bits.
I've literally been planning out a technical build all day, planning on buying a separate Toyota Hilux model and either a Tow, recoiless rifle, or soviet cold war AA gun to smack on the back. So funny he uploads this today
Would love to see more technicals…I think they are great subjects for you, especially once you do some research and see the incredible array of home-brew mods out there. Also, because they are usually quite neglected, worn and weathered…. Just the thing for your style.
Brilliant! Love the blue they were also base coated white and painted blue I read but alot of old land crusers were just plain Jane white on a white primer
Even in an unfinished state it looks great, all the shading just makes everything pop. I'm a real sucker for weathering though so looking forward to the finished model.
Superb job, as usual, Martin. 👍 We learn a lot of tricks with your videos, and the result is way ahead of other videos we can see on RUclips. Regarding the gap you got on the tail gate (3:40), you need to start gluing the side walls from the back end first, then going on with the gluing towards the front. This way you get no gap on the tail gate. Keep on with the good job !
I don't use Lead for straps anymore! It breaks to easy... Now I paint Paper with Craft Paint! It's much stronger than Lead and is flexible. And you can have any color and the paint won't flake off.
*I think that "CONTINENTAU" is for the copyright, AK don't want to pay this fee not to increase the price of its kit. Well done, the paint is delicious!*
If you like improvised AAA vehicles: BTR-D with ZSU-23-2 It's basically just the deployed ZSU trailer, strapped on top of the BTR-D. The 'feet' rest on wooden blocks and actually strapping it down (with scale ratchets) would look amazing. I think it's pretty cute and with the guns pointed up, would fit on just a small vignette, with some bushes and maybe a small tree.
Completely amazing ! I didn't understand what is that blue color.. could you tell me ? Or something similar maybe by Vallejo / Tamiya ? I noticed for the deck tan / white add for highlight.
One more week until I can watch a new exciting nightshift video. Just kidding. I loved this video. I know im not owed anything and im very grateful for this channel and the videos it is just wonderful to see new mind blowing videos!
Excellent video as usual.................But Dude, air brushes do not wear out. Mine is over 19 years old and has had a lot of paint go thru it. I'm even using the original needle
Greetings my friend, another excellent build from one of the hobby's true masters, looking forward to the next installment, best regards from Australia.
Well, I receive the best result in creating blankets, sheets, etc. when using a single layer of a paper handkerchief and deluded PVA glue. It is far mor adhesive and soft when putting it into place.
If I'm not wrong, AK interactive made a very short amount of kits of a model of a Toyota pick-up a looong time ago, that should be the 001 model of the series. Keep on going with the great job you are doing with your vids. 👍👍👍
i know you said technicals arent your intrest but i think i tamiya pink panther would be a good build its not as complicated as some of the things you build however seeing how you would paint the pink colour would be good there is also some really good photos of the weathering on them
I don't know if you take requests but I'd really like to see a stridsvang 103 (b or c) featured on the channel. I think it would be an interesting tank to make and weather given the shape, and i also think it would a good and interesting challenge for you as well. Keep up the entertaining videos ma friend :)
Personally, I like having a mix of "soft skins" mixed in with the armor. Jeeps, MUTTs, kubelwagens, etc. That FJ40 (?) is looking pretty awesome already.
so kinda related to this i picked up a 1/35 german WW2 truck a few years ago and finally started building it this week - i've only ever really built tanks...how does weathering an car or a truck differ from a tank?
You should have wear and tear on the outer side of the driver's seat. If you can, add cigarette burns and simulate exposed foam from the seat cushion, while leaving the passenger seat in slightly better condition. Just look up used trucks and SUVs for sale to see what I mean.
Another fine build and painting video! But... Hold the phone! You use a cheap airbrush??!! Here I was thinking you use one of those high end German, Swiss or Japanese air brushes... Even more impressed with your work now!
you should totally give technicals more love they're very weird and wild things
i second this, toyota hilux with Dshk
@@maybeblakemclemore I thrid this very rare to see.

I have been wanting to build something like this for a while. Needless to say, you did an absolutely amazing job.
Cool subject to build, I like those easy and less complicated projects. Can't wait for weathering stage because this model bring a looot of possibilities.

Killer job on the build, as always!
It's good to try something a little different every once in a while. Looking forward to part 2.
I own a 1981 FJ43 and love seeing this model in a wartime configuration.
One of these days, either the curiosity alone, or something else is gonna drive you to do a Gundam, and good god I cannot wait to see your style applied to that, man.
I do them myself, and it’s been your style and techniques that’s helped me.
Hope does a Guntank first, if not a Type 61
For all that is Holy, never do a Gundam kit. Don't ruin this channel with that weird robot mess. Keep this channel as it is please.
Guntank would be great. Or maybe something from the 40K or Star Wars universe. I just want to see him apply a super realistic paint job to something fantasy, that'd be really cool.
Thank you so much until today I never knew there was a fiberglass pencil that's going to make my life so much easier

Hell yeah, new Uncle Nightshift video, my Friday morning is complete.

Nice work as always! The body gaps around the front fenders and hood are pretty dead on for an old FJ 40, they're huge!
I'm always super excited when you upload something different! Love the main tank conent too but the occasional variation is just amazing!
I've literally been planning out a technical build all day, planning on buying a separate Toyota Hilux model and either a Tow, recoiless rifle, or soviet cold war AA gun to smack on the back. So funny he uploads this today
Never thought about a curved blade making less contact with the plastic and thus being more precise in certain cases. I can see that coming in handy.
Greetings from a Land Cruiser owner.
It’s a new kind of build for this channel and I like it! Maybe they all interactive can make humvees and stuff for like a Afganistán diorama
Even in an unfinished state it looks great, all the shading just makes everything pop. I'm a real sucker for weathering though so looking forward to the finished model.
Been a fan of theyre acrylics for years. Excited to see what models they come up with
This already looks awesome and I know it's only going to get better from here, looking forward to the next video.
Superb job, as usual, Martin. 👍

Great model and love blue paint. Thx for show us
Can't wait for these on Friday!
Looks like a great model to work up. Great job. Looking forward to the final product. 👍🏻
Great job on the Toyota, back in the 1970s they were the best bang for your buck in base line 4X4s.
A bit of subtle texturing never hurt anyone.
Please please please either do more technicals or more tanks!! This is so enjoyable, since most of us have seen a similar scene/car irl!!
Great video and presentation.
I would've liked to see you make a 1/35 scale model of those beaded covers for the seats.
Uncle, your videos always make my week. Thank you 😁
I don't use Lead for straps anymore! It breaks to easy... Now I paint Paper with Craft Paint! It's much stronger than Lead and is flexible. And you can have any color and the paint won't flake off.
Looks cool, looking forward to see the next technical episode!
*I think that "CONTINENTAU" is for the copyright, AK don't want to pay this fee not to increase the price of its kit. Well done, the paint is delicious!*
Super nice work👍! I love the color variations you’ve done with kit…as you said, “not 50 different shades of OD😊!
Totally COOL!! Great COLORS!!! NICE JOB, I await the next one!! WOOP WOOP!!!
Looking forward most to the stowage?? Uncle Night Shift has come so far!
What is the black glue? I went back to older videos to see if there was a link but didn’t see one. Thanks!
Great build Martin, Thank you for sharing. Hope you have a great week.
This little series is brilliant, I've got the Meng pickup technical in my stash I'm planning on building soon ☺
That’s very nice change of pace for the channel. Good to see you building and painting something else apart of armor
Nice looking forward to seeing the rest I didn't know AK did models so thanks for letting us know that
Great start, looks awesome! I think we all need to go outside our comfort zone at times, mix it up a little bit and have some fun!
seeing you paint the blue makes almost makes me want to do a U.N. APC
Nice details inside the Toyota...and most impressive work on the blue shades!
If you like improvised AAA vehicles: BTR-D with ZSU-23-2

50 shades of olive drab sounds like a great parody book
A nice refreshing video, I loved painting my Technicals for Drop Zone Commander. They are 10mm though so not as much detail 😛
1:18 Martin, I didn't know you are also an `editor` 😊 Lovely progress on the Toyota 👍
You will still include the machinge gun right?
Darn it! You out did yourself again!
This is a really beautiful model. Which blue paint did you use? I like it a lot.
Ahoj Martin,
nemáš v pláne sa konečne pustiť do 2A3 Kondensator 2P?
Your channel is awesome keep up the awesome work
happy Friday Uncle Nightshift!
Wonderful, nice work. Look forward to the next episode.
I didnt expect that wow!
-_- uncle nightshift are you handling lead using the appropiate precautions? Can't help to feel a bit nervous whenever I see that metal on screen
One more week until I can watch a new exciting nightshift video. Just kidding. I loved this video. I know im not owed anything and im very grateful for this channel and the videos it is just wonderful to see new mind blowing videos!
That blue is so nice. All the best for You! ;)
Nice one. This kit is on my whish list 😀
Greay build and awesome subject.. All you need now are some Chadian troops to complete the scene.
Excellent video as usual.................But Dude, air brushes do not wear out. Mine is over 19 years old and has had a lot of paint go thru it. I'm even using the original needle
001 is the same kit with hard top
Hello I was wondering if you can make panzer 3 ausf d/b by miniart
Greetings my friend, another excellent build from one of the hobby's true masters, looking forward to the next installment, best regards from Australia.
where did you get the model?
Hey Uncle Nightshift, I’m building an Me 262 and I was thinking what good colors I could use for weathering for a “right out the factory” kinda look.
hey man. Which airbrush are you using?
I can’t wait for a takom 1/35 Apache from you. It would be awesome to see you use armor techniques on an armor-scaled chopper model
Well, I receive the best result in creating blankets, sheets, etc. when using a single layer of a paper handkerchief and deluded PVA glue. It is far mor adhesive and soft when putting it into place.
Black plastic fenders on the Land Cruiser?
If I'm not wrong, AK interactive made a very short amount of kits of a model of a Toyota pick-up a looong time ago, that should be the 001 model of the series.
Keep on going with the great job you are doing with your vids. 👍👍👍
Any tips on fading metallic paints?
i know you said technicals arent your intrest but i think i tamiya pink panther would be a good build its not as complicated as some of the things you build however seeing how you would paint the pink colour would be good there is also some really good photos of the weathering on them

great as always
Well done!
Very nice tidy lit from Ak, sure to be popular :)
Damn!!! you sure make it look so simple, kudos to you Mr. Nightshift..:)
why on earth you dont airbrush those boxes etc outside the model and THEN glue them in?
you are great keep up the good work
Great build, what airbrush were you using again?
Personally, I like having a mix of "soft skins" mixed in with the armor. Jeeps, MUTTs, kubelwagens, etc. That FJ40 (?) is looking pretty awesome already.
Have you ever considered scifi tanks? It would give you more of a respite from the plain grey and olive drab
Mr Surfacer 1200-1500 works just like the Tamiya trick.
so kinda related to this i picked up a 1/35 german WW2 truck a few years ago and finally started building it this week - i've only ever really built tanks...how does weathering an car or a truck differ from a tank?
Less mud getting picked up by the wheels and spattered onto the truck, but what does hit the truck goes farther.
Very nice 👍 👍, I have the hardtop version in the mail and can’t wait for it.
Cheers max
Where can I buy this?
You should have wear and tear on the outer side of the driver's seat. If you can, add cigarette burns and simulate exposed foam from the seat cushion, while leaving the passenger seat in slightly better condition.
Just look up used trucks and SUVs for sale to see what I mean.
Awesome job so far, isn't the AK35001 model the SUV version?
Looking very nice already great job
🔵🔵🔵👍👍👍😀😀😀🔵🔵🔵
AK35001 is the SUV version of this model.
Another fine build and painting video! But... Hold the phone! You use a cheap airbrush??!! Here I was thinking you use one of those high end German, Swiss or Japanese air brushes... Even more impressed with your work now!
No random bullet holes?
Nice! Great video!
Amazing work!
