Night Shift I wanted to say I made a purchase with Michigan Toy Soldier company and used your discount code to support your work. I enjoy and appreciate your videos and tips. Thank you
I'm a complete amateur and only do gundams. That 6:12 part about smoothing things out with thin cement is a godsend advice. Things I learn from here rarely get used to the models I prefer to work on, but are surprisingly good to know every now and then. Thank you man.
Your on screen introductions seem pretty new, and I'm really liking them. I don't if I'm ever actually going to use anything I've learnt from watching your videos, I just find them very entertaining. I like your voiceover style, shot compositions and editing, and I'm always blown away by the transformation after each stage of painting.
I work for the AA. The oldest motoring organisation in the world. I'm here in the UK. It's not Landover Yellow it's AA yellow! Lovely miniature as always.
Martin, you never cease to amaze. BTW, everyone at Michigan Toy Solider continue to sing your praises. Your name always seams to come up when I'm there.
It looks awesome. Kind of reminds me of my old 1970 Forn Bronco. It was a flat medium green, with a flat white hard top. Underneath that flat green was a worn out orange color. The truck was former power line chaser for Florida Power & Light. Loved that truck, she wasnt pretty. But she always got me were ever wanted to go and back home again. Especially when off roading out in the Florida water mangement areas. Good job with this weather process. On the little land rover.
Hi Martin, thst was an absolute work of art, it's nice to see older vehicles modelled, I once saw a very well weathered Landrover in Mexico City, that would have made a great weathering subject, best regards from Australia, Les
At this point the actual model you are building doesn’t matter anymore. Its all about your workflow, your technques, your artistic approach and - last but nit least - taking and TALKING us through it. Great work Martin!
That's quite an accurate model . It's got Salisbury axles that on the real series land rovers and the defenders was a heavy duty axle . And the tyres where a military tire fitted to series 2a and 3 108 inch and 88 inch airportible lightweight land rovers . They went out of production but another company has started making them for british military land rover owners. Loving the channel thank you. 👍
After watching this video I had to go through some of your other projects because I was so astonished by how realistic your weathering looks compared to so many other builders. I found your channel and surscribed do to the professionalism you have in both the work and commentary explaining the processes. I am simply amazed with your work. I am looking forward to the next project you bring to the table.
Hi Martin, WOW WHAT A VIDEO AND BUILD, FROM STAR TO FINISH IT SHOWED ME A FEW TRICKS TO MAKE A BETTER MODEL, LOVE THE PAINT FINISH, VERY AUTHENTIC ON OLD LAND ROVERS, LOOKING FORWARD TO THE DIORAMA, KEEP UP THE FANTASTIC WORK,
Love the vid. Nice work. In future you can heat up the copper wire till it changes color then quickly quench it in water. It will become very soft and pliable. Much easier to work with and get to lay naturally.
Watching your skillful crafting is somewhat like watching an object IRL left to rot in front of a time-lapse camera. Your attention to 'asymmetrical weathering' is a subtle but telling testament to your skill. I'm just blown away, as usual, by your talent, Martin. I've seen the dioramma video too, and this project is just amazing.
A challenge for you. . . We know ship models are too small, scale wise, to make them interesting models but if you, perhaps, scratch built a piece of a ship, ferry etc as the dioramma part of a project and integrated models into the scene it would open up more oppportunites for creative weathering. Ambitious as ever, I'm imagining a sinking ferry shedding its load into the water or onto [and damaging] the dock. You up for a challenge like that, Martin?
I love the sound of the tyres on the road when in a real Landrover but trying to have a conversation you alway shout even thought your a foot away from each other.
The more I think about it, the more I want to see Night Shift do a German heavy. Something like Trumpeters 1/35th scale E-100 with the fictional krupp turret design, or a Tiger II with a factory fresh turret paint job but a complete hull camoflage paint. I'd also love to see you do more modern armor, preferable NATO MBTs as they have so much space for stuff to be tossed on them
Really cool trick I learned from a man wiser than myself (my grandad), is to lay down the mask or stencil, then apply a thin layer of clear varnish, then spray the colour. Prevents bleeding under the mask and makes it much cleaner when removing the mask. Literally life changing knowledge here.
I have the AK Unimog S404 in my stash, having rummaged through the box its certainly very detailed and will be perfect for building up into a bush war variant
Awesome build, thanks for sharing that. You can easily mask those hazard striping by using for example 1mm masking tape. You just place them diagonally directly adjacent to each other, the you remove every second strip to get a perfect pattern.
That rig is so nasty but in a very good way. You did an outstanding job on it and I am looking forward to seeing what the diorama you build for it looks like.
Thank you for putting in the hours to get this video out sooner Martin, the model looks awesome! I've got 2 variants of this AK kit in the stash, so was a pleasant surprise to see this video pop up. I'm going to pick up both of the VW T2's tomorrow, so looking forward to seeing what you make of them when you do them :)
I got to do work along the Defender manufacturing line a couple of times, so interesting watching all the different shapes and modified vehicles going down the line
Damn. What a beautiful vehicle. I'd drive that every day with pride if I had a real one. Land Rover has to be the only rig that looks best when beat to a snot.
Wish I could remember and utilize all these techniques. Hell, to even have most of the materials. Looks like so much fun to use! Someday... In the meantime, I'll make due. Love the videos!
"Oi - who are you? **** off!" My word Night Shift, this real life reference stuff you do for your models will get you in trouble one of these days - I'm going to watch the bloopers at the end to see you chased off by dogs....! 😊 Anyway - brilliant work, as usual. To remove the seam line on those rubber tyres you could put the tyre on drill and sand it as it revolves....
A cracking video and workmanship👍✌️💜😊 I dont live too far away from Ledbury and that Land Rover reminds me of Land Rovers that my dad and others owned, hard working, beat up vehicles, from the 1970s and 1980s. Yellow is always a challenge as its a "warning colour" for humans and animals, as is red, orange etc, so the eye is drawn to it, thus it has to be treated with respect. You've done a marvelous job of it👍✌️💜😊 Im working on two yellow railway vans, they require similar treatment, and Ive employed filters (to replicate cement dust), weathering and water colour pencils, Ive also used fibre brushing to age the branding (lettering), false shading, Gouache and trompe l'œil. Im always wary of modelling these "warning colours", but when shaded, weathered etc, they turn out okay, albeit they take more work than other colours, hues and tones. I thought about purchasing one of those cutters, but like you I suspect Id use it very infrequently - but when used theyre worth their weight in gold? Im still undecided 🤔🤔 I also use acrylic markers, Im tempted by the new AK versions - so Ill give them a look👍👍 Great work, great video ✌️👍😊
Making a Landrover into a tow truck is like making the Titanic a rescue ship! Great model though my landrover model has aluminium shining through worn and chipped paint like my real landrover.
I panicked when I saw you filling in the gaps in the wing panels. Landies are a series of components driving about in close, but not too close, proximity! ;-)
Looking forward to see the diorama. You should add an engine from another kit (or 3D print). There's always an engine around whenever these vehicles are involved. :))
Inspiring, as always...now torn between your rust techniques and one i saw when researching a hasegawa bus kit for ideas. Saw a technique we sometimes use with watercolor painting, salt chipping. Saw an amazing use on a Workshop Recorder vid, for a VW delivery van project (5 year old vid). The difference i saw was large area vs fine detailing/small area. Now i want to try both and see how they come out. Appreciate your time, patience, and videos
Bro I love your videos Every video is just so relaxing and helps coming down in the evening. I hope you will do this thing for a long time and do the work for us to film it. One of my favorite RUclipsrs
🔥🔥Wow, your model looks so much better than my attempt. 😅In the video, you also skip over the most frustrating part of the build; the engine. I was so happy when that part was done! Your patience and attention to detail is inspiring. I hope there’s another good model of this car out there because I think it’s one of the coolest cars! Looking forward to your diorama... 🤩
Just wanted to say, every time I make a sandwich, in my head I hear your into but instead of "my friends" I hear "my bread". Thanks for everything, keep up the great dioramas! 😂😂😂
Night Shift I wanted to say I made a purchase with Michigan Toy Soldier company and used your discount code to support your work. I enjoy and appreciate your videos and tips. Thank you
This one definitely not a lemon! Great work buddy!

"ugly gap" - Land Rover owners: "Don't worry Rovie, he didn't mean that."
I was about to say - historically accurately. 😂
Agreed, it looked pretty close compared to what the real thing looks like.
That's not an ugly gap, it's a design feature, part of what makes every landy unique.
turn not Maa Friends😂😂😂
@@aserta agreed, that's just character!

3:31 That wasn’t a mistake. Just like on the real thing. It’s a Land Rover after all. You forgot to replicate the oil leaks.
Its a landrover
if it isnt leaking its bevause its out of fluid
Oil leaks save changing filters and preserves chassis. Win win.
As a classic landrover owner and scale modeller this has made me so happy! Thank you brother!
I work for the AA. The oldest motoring organisation in the world. I'm here in the UK. It's not Landover Yellow it's AA yellow! Lovely miniature as always.
This is very impressive, especially in this smaller scale.
the garage down the road as a kid had a landrover in a similar state. awesome job Martin
Martin, you never cease to amaze. BTW, everyone at Michigan Toy Solider continue to sing your praises. Your name always seams to come up when I'm there.
The tip for masking clear parts is just in time for me. Working on my first wheeled vehicle, a jeep, right now.
WOW! Amazing! Honey, you are the Chip Master!!! More patience than all your viewers combined!
Is it just me?? But when I get up in the morning and I hear "Ma Friends......" It's a good day. 😬
It's not just you all right! 😁
Just ordered one of these kits. My 1:1 scake 109 is parked outside. You should see the shut lines and panel gaps on that!!
I can see them from here! Same with mine 😂
3:41, there is meant to be a gap between the rear tub and the rear chassis cross member

Excellent video, Uncle! Love a dutty mucked-up Land Rover.

As a Series Land Rover owner for over three decades and a model maker from even before that, this is superb! Thanks for a great video.
Top notch work Martin! Always a pleasure to have your inspiring videos playing while I work on hobby stuff in my basement.
Spine tingling, truck painting, model chilling gem 💎
Martin kinda looks like a soyjack ngl

Learn so much from your videos, and it’s a bonus that this one is sending a ton of traffic to my latest Land Rover-based build! Thanks Martin!
I love the sound of the tyres on the road when in a real Landrover but trying to have a conversation you alway shout even thought your a foot away from each other.
I'm enjoying your modelling 'sorbets'. Lovely little vehicle.

Just amazing work. Bravo "And NOW we start the weathering..." (START?!?! It looks great already!) 😱 ❤

I absolutely love the AK markers. The rubber black one is especially my favorite for rubber coated road wheels.

Really artistic work and a wonderful subject - thanks for sharing

Very nice work. I did cars/trucks back when I was a kid in the 60's. Not so much, since. It's a whole different skill set. Cool.
Nicely done, not that anything else was expected.

Superb result. I'd love seeing the Unimog or Transporter done up!

Nice, I like these civilian subjects once in a while.

Excellent, thank you for sharing. Sincerely, a daft syllable dropper 😃
i enjoyed this a lot... dont forget leaking oil stains underneath for the diorama :)

The wonky camera at the start was trippy!
