Just got a quest two. Just saw a demo of a rifle stock accessory and thought - I could make that with pipe and connectors! Got the paper out and a pen and a tape measure and I'm like... wait a second there must be a youtuber with a skillset I can shamelessly just copy!!! You sir are a true hero in our time. BISCUITS!!!
I just made mine and I love it! Best diy I’ve found! Also I recommend not gluing anything until you’ve tried it in game. I used mine like that, adjusted it while doing some target practice until I got to where I could pull it to my eye and be on sight with ease. After that I took a sharpie to draw a few lines on each connecting piece and then glued it using the lines to keep everything aligned. I don’t think you need any magnets for it, and I want to add a sling to it but I’m not sure if I’ll run it through the tube or just screw it to the outside.
So I've been playing a lot of vr shooters lately and decided I needed a gun stock. I was gonna just buy one, but I found some pvc pipe lying around the house and remembered this video. Cut it up, heated and formed it to the controllers for a good fit that locks them in, but doesn't make it too hard to remove. Next I took a piece of ash wood I had, used a router to cut grooves through the piece and attached the controller mounts with bolts through the grooves so I can loosen and slide them to where I need them to be. If I leave the front mount loose I can even use it to rack a shotgun in game. I also attached a single point sling to the back with a bolt through the back groove so I can drop the stock and switch to a pistol if need be. Is it perfect? No. Does it work? Hell yeah! Thanks for the inspiration, my dude. Saved me like 60 bucks!
Love this idea. I think you need a magnetic release for the off-hand controller though. Are you finding it easy enough to remove you left hand and re-attach for gun reloading? I'm trying to think of a clever way to do it.
easy enough with some hardware store magnets. off the top a my head you could make 2 more 4` sections to replace the controller cups. then cut half of the far end of the controller cups off to make them half cycles. then put paired magnets on the inside of the half cut controller cups. finally put corresponding magnets on the outside of the new 34` bits of pipe. boom. double magnetic mounts. id suggest 60-90lb magnets for a secure but not annouying mount.
my 2 cents on one way to add magnetic quick release points: you could make 2 more 4` sections to replace the controller cups. then cut half of the far end of the controller cups off to make them half cycles. then put paired magnets on the inside of the half cut controller cups. finally put corresponding magnets on the outside of the new 34` bits of pipe. boom. double magnetic mounts. id suggest 60-90lb magnets for a secure but not annouying mount.
i love the ideas but what happens if you pull out a map with your left hand and then need to use yoru right hand finger to navigate around the map and content then someone comes out from nowhere and you need to grab your pistol or a grenade without poking your headset swinging the stock . I think if you only holding a rifle or just being a sniper its great but pulling your hands down to grab items or letting go completely to grab your pistol to shoot a random person from behind when primary is empty . Pros and cons in all ways but this looks great
Though vr shooters is a fun but small world compared to first person shooters, for anyone that takes there game seriously this is God’s work. Much appreciated for putting a great and simple design out for others. Wish the best for you 🙂 happy 4th 🇺🇸
This looks nice. I was thinking to cut one in plywood and use magnets, but I dont know how that with magnets work yet. I saw some that you could buy that had magnets.
@@knightridersix928 checked more videos after this and I think I might use a pvc plumming pipe or something outer diameter 77 mm and make it in the style of the printed one with magnets pipe and plywood where they use printed parts, but I'll have the plywood more one pice with pipe screwed on.
Granted, you're not glueing to hold pressure, but you should put glue on both pieces. You should dry fit the rest entire thing before glueing. Oh also you can loosen glued joints by heating it up. The cement will let go.
I've been thinking up a plan for quick release grips. You're way off heating the pipe is perfect. My own is to do that, then cut off one side, make some recesses and add magnets. I'm going to do have to do it a little different to make it for my grips though
Skip the magnets and just hold it in place! Look up the KobraVR CQB, pretty genius setup. I missed their latest batch will try to make my own, a mix of this one and the CQB.
i spray painted a dollar store toy gun to look like my real ar and im planning on sawing off the grip and trigger guard and part of the rail to make my own better looking vr gun
A blow torch should work just fine but you will have to be very careful because you are right, it will melt much faster. If you're thinking about making one of these, I suggest checking out this updated version. ruclips.net/video/zMiZG6rv-Kg/видео.html
Thank you for this. I was trying to make one myself. I worry about scratching my controller though. Would you recommend some type of foam to put on the inner sides of the controller slots?
I had the same thought. I made some modifications after I finished the video. I got some felt strips that are meant to be stuck to the bottom of furniture and stuck them to the inside of the tubes, heated them up again, and re stretched the plastic. Hope this helps!
@@draconianodyssey4776 yes! I did not think of that. One last question. Is this stock "one size?" I had heard different weapons have different hand placements, like using SMG compared to assault rifle size. Thank you for your reply.
@@knightridersix928 My current setup is much more of an AR style than an SMG setup but I haven't had any serious issues with any of the guns I've tried it with.

On Contractors VR: I discovered that my gun stock is COMPLETELY USELESS due to the FACT that it wont calibrate properly for me at all. Ive tried EVERYTHING, every setting, hours of calibrating, testing and FREAKING OUT. It calibrates well in calibration mode but soon as I test the aim in game...... it does this weird glitch thing where the rifle flips up n down angled, wont stay aiming outwards for some reason. If I hold the controller free handed then there is no issue. What the F is going on here??????? I knew there was going to be a problem when I got this stock but why is it working for everyone else??? Keep in mind, Ive tried ALL the settings ON OFF RIGHT LEFT ect. HOURS of calibrating and testing. What gives? I made my stock out of pvc and fittings, it literally is shaped like a REAL rifle but its like the game can tell Im trying to use a stock and is bullying me or something LOL Someone PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE help me out here, Im about to try to request a refund and I dont want to do that. Contractors VR. Is my stock made wrong? with bad angles or dimensions or something? The controllers line up perfectly with each other. Is one supposed tobe higher than the other??? Offset somehow??? Im very frustrated and really need some help folks, thanks.
Do you have the support over the top of the controllers or underneath like the one in the video? I did some experiments with a design that went over the controller but I believe the Oculus' camera needs to see the ring of the controller clearly for precise tracking. When the ring was obscured, my controllers would freak out and the tracking wouldn't work. Hope this helps.
@@draconianodyssey4776 Immediately after posting this, I figured out that I had to elevate my forward grip/controller by about 6 inches. Cleared right up. Still confused about it but at least Its working now LOL

1×1.25" T Junction
1×1.25" 24" pvc pipe

Glue applicator (optional)
Oh my God thank you so much
@lifeshardthenugotlove5099 I am not pvc expert . Can you please tell alternative for heat gun and easy home method for make pipe flexible
@halithsha2975 you could use a hairdryer if available or use multiple tea light candles set in a triangle shape this will take longer than a heat gun

The plastic clip ones that go inside the controller rings with the magnets? I was looking for the same. Etsy may be your best chance.

Hi what glue is that your using please?
I bet you modded a slot so you could have the straps on.... And possibly added a gun sling?🤔🤔🤔🤔
Looks nice and simple, but what about ingame tests? I wonder if the controllers fall out?

there is a part 2 for this...just saying

I'm probably going to make a video soon on an updated version of the stock. I'll add some footage of it in use in that video.
