    I have been there right with you since you germinated the seeds, potted them, grew them tenderly in your little frame house, and am too rejoicing in these gorgeous flowers. I have my own King and Queen protea seeds now germinating the way you did. Thank you for sharing. from Australia

    I have two of these at a friends wedding from an arrangement. Years later they still look incredible in a vase!!! The texture of the petals is unreal!

    So exciting, I'm also in Sacramento. I just bought my first leucospermum today and stumbled across your informative videos. You have a beautiful collection! Happy gardening!

      Protea and leucadendron do well in the ground here - but I've had some leucospermum not make it - they need super excellent draining soil - they do much better in a raised bed - like 30 by 30 inches and 12 inches tall. Let me know how it goes... I will be posting some more videos soon.

    Thank you for making these videos! (I love your enthusiasm for the plants) The plants and flowers are beautiful! Even the red stems have such a nice contrast with the leaves. Also it's helpful seeing how the blooms and plants progress over time--information I haven't really been able to see anywhere else. May I ask what plant hardiness zone you're located in where they grow so well?

      Sun Block - Yes it’s public. You should be able to find it if you click the playlists tab. I will try to verify that when I have time.

    Really nice videos! Thank you for uploading your informative journey. I have king protea, hakea, banksia in pots and I just bought the osmocote-native gardens to fertilize them. I used peatmoss and perlite with bark mixture. Did you sprinkle osmocote on top of the mixture, or inside? And do you still use them after they bloomed?

    Amy advice on growing these? I bought a dwarf King protea last year and it died last month. I know they need good drainage so I had it mounded and only watered once a week or less in the winter. Not sure what happened.

    • @growproteas1148
      @growproteas1148  5 лет назад

      Hard to say what happened? I don't where you live? Climate? The King proteas seem easier to grow compared to leucospermum.
