@@TheYoungGoalkeeper There is a bit of a difference between an horse being forced to run so fast that they break a leg and have to be killed or just have a heart attack and forced to wear uncomfortable headgear and my cat. My cat has had 20 years of love and care with precisely zero expectations placed upon her. She has done what she wants, when she wants her whole life. She eats, sleeps, gets cuddles, and goes out to see the world entirely on her own terms.
Please explain how the 2 are in any way comparable.

I worked in dog sled racing at the winning level. Racing animals is cruel af and theres no way around the issues. I never gave it much thought until i worked in racing. Horse racing needs to freaking go. We need to add an amendment to the animal welfare act to include a ban on all forms of animal racing.

You stopped gambling tomorrow, and horse racing would be finished as a commercial entity. I suppose there would be illegal horse racing, but that could be changed with stricter sentences for general animal welfare in the UK. Which while better than many other countries, is, still not acceptable.
Let's whip the jockeys, and trainers that will out them in their place,and blindfold them in prison cells see how they like it.
Humans are their own worst enemy. They use and abuse for sport, then end up with gambling addiction, then debt, family strain and poverty and down the spiral goes....

Horse racing should absolutely be banned. I'm so sick of the deluded people who refuse to acknowledge how many horses die to this blood sport every year and claim how great and exciting it was to watch the horses run their guts out. Only greedy delusional people support abusive sports... You can't let the general public decide what is and isn't abusive, because the majority of the public don't know anything about horses or have ever sat on a horse. The general public sees a horse galloping it's heart out on the racetrack and will think that's the greatest, most powerful thing they've ever seen. Don't even get me started on the gamblers...

Horseracing should be banned. The Kentucky Derby is a place where silly women wear ridiculous hats believing someone cares. We watch to see horses. Too many horses have suffered at this Kentucky graveyard. We want it closed down. NOW.
Out of my peer group and colleagues, lower-to-middle class in the 30-50 age range - not one person supports horse racing. We include joiners, warehouse workers, plumbers, technicians, project managers, various political affiliations. It's one of the only things that everyone I know agrees on. When it's finally gone, we'll all be glad. No PR will change that.

Same with my group of friends, same age group, grew up in Huntington Beach, live in Malibu we have 2 tracks near us, they are always empty bc there are protesters outside of both places bc there was a long Summer of deaths that really shook ppl up.

actually alot of equine sports are dominated by women. With horses sports I think women are a cause of much of the suffereing. Racing is kind of different in that its about breeding and management so thats mainly men, but other sports like jumping and barrel racing etc etc its mainly women. Barrel Racing is predominantly done by women for example and they have an advantage because they are lighter.
All the top ten trainers and jockeys and the club should be taxed 1 percent of their earnings witch could be used for the welfare of these horses.

Jockeys are typically not treated or paid all that well either just saying. These people treat horses like they are disposable, they treat the jockeys much the same in many cases.

I used to be a big gambler before my spiritual awakening but I don't regret this time because It was exhilarating and I was passionate even if didn't win a lot of money. Finally this time of pandemic was useful to realize lots of things by being hampered to attend the races. Great vid

I personally think things like horse racing can be ethical, but I also recognize that it is going to be a nearly impossible fight unless the correct people start helping with the change.
My country, luckily, is better with the racing rules, but we aren't safe either. We just don't have the same injuries or crimes being committed as some other countries have. It's completely different type of reason for racing.
We do it because the horse wants to run and the owner enjoys it. It's more of a hobby than a career to be made of. If the horse doesn't want to run, it won't run because that wouldn't benefit anybody. A lot of ex-racers also get rehabilitated or trained and live long lives, which I'm glad for.
For places like UK we can only try and make a change.
@@marialindell9874 Racing cannot be done ethically. there are no rules or regulations that fix the fundamental issues with racing, Its basically just competitive horse breeding. it displaces loads of horses, and lots of horse die in training or on the track.

japanese horse racing does seem to have some aspects to it that are better than other countries like they arent starting horses to young, runnung baby horses until their legs explode, but that just means they are more selective in the beginning, it still displaces lots of horses.

Hi. I think the Queen showed people that women should be productive. And, in general, people should be productive. I half payed attention to her all these years. She is on our money. I'm from St. Kitts in the Eastern Caribbean. The Queen said she loved horses , so maybe her horses have extra care. Also, if not, maybe she did not realize that horse racing was dangerous to horses until after a long while. So, she kept racing horses because that's what people know about her. That she loves horses.
Anyway, I learned that she fought in a war. Kept her last name after marriage. I don't care if she married her 3rd cousin, who I think is more related than that because of generations of families marrying. She was born a long time ago, as time passes, health improves from news discoveries of things that are unhealthy, and new medicines and vaccines and other things.
Some people online keep on faulting her for marrying her cousin.

Sorry but i think its very unfortunate that the interviewer has such poor knowledge about horses aswell as the industry.
The questions could have been much deeper revealing the actual truth. This is just a joke and honestly lets the horses down which suffering a great amount.
The general public might not find anything wrong with seeing someone riding a horse. But if you interview vets and chiropractors as well as ppl who take those horses on after they get discharged from the industry it shows a different reality.
These horses are getting started before they have the physical or mental maturity to deal with the weight of a rider, the daily training routine, the stress which comes with the races. Those horses are getting traumatised in so many ways, broken down, their joints snapp during races cause they getting pushed through fear over their limits. And those which do survive and are ro slow, cant race because of injury are ending up in a far away slaughter house. If they are even more unlucky with broken limbs getting dragged by the neck out of transporters. This industry is not prioritising the horses. They just maximise the profit. Its utterly disgusting and disgraceful 😒
