Yes. I helps with carbon build up. HPDI are great motors but are fuel sensitive and can build carbon on plugs and in motor. My motor runs clean and smokeless and ring free is part of the reason because it prevents carbon built up and with gasoline contaminants. Enjoy your boat!
Hi there, I have the same motor and have a problem with it, your channel is great. Have a question I am checking a fuel pump and I can see that ground is not consistent is that supposed to be like that or it should be consistent?
consistent? Not sure what you mean. Are you having starting or running issues? Check fuel pump for pressure. I will be glad to help you but will need a little more info. Thank you for watching.
@@florida4funshinechannel998 thanks a lot, so when I connect pressure gauge to fuil pump, it goes to 40 then it drops to 20, then to 5. All of the just turning the key not running. Is it supposed to be like that ?
Where are the injectors Hiding? Are they under the front black rectangular box? Have you ever had any injector or other problems with this motor? I am looking at a 150hpdi it’s the same block just different ecu. I am thinking of buying a 200hp ecu on eBay to get an extra 50hp
Yes. Under the black cover in the back of motor. I have not had injector issues. The key is to keep the fuel clean and filters changed regularly. Ring free additive to fuel is a must in my opinion for these engines. I have a lot of confident in these engines.
@@florida4funshinechannel998 thanks for your response. They seem fairly simple and durable if maintained. Roughly what is the fuel consumption at cruise for you? Someone said they were getting about 4.2gph at about 30 mph with the 150hp
The filter you replaced on the engine is missing the O Ring on top. For some reason the filter does not come with this rubber O Ring. The part#61-24564-00-00 it is around $5.00 as I just ordered with my new filter for my 2002 175 HPDI.
Hello Jesse. If you want used parts for that motor , I suggest looking at EBAY. There are numerous parts stores that you will find there. If you are looking for new: Crowley Marine www.crowleymarine.com › yamaha › oem-parts I am not sponsored by them.

I like you’re style.
If I’m using ethanol free gas should I still use the Yamaha ring free. This is my first boat I have the same motor as you.
