How do you check the switch with the volt meter .. unplug the clip and put the volt meter to the prongs of the clip ? Then what ? When I did that the meter only read -0.01
They told me that I should avoid running the engine in idle, even when I flush it with the ears, because the spark plugs will become fouled with oil and the engine will start having issues with idling until I change them. What is your opinion? Is this happening because it works with 4 cylinders?
Hey buddy, I gotta replace the neutral switch. If I unscrew those two screws does it all pop out it looks like if I unscrew those two screws and it has that metal thing connected to it it might not come out even with the two screws is that the only thing I have to do is take out the two screws.
@@florida4funshinechannel998 I thought about disconnecting it also but that makes sence. Should be able to disconnect it so you can check for spark on every cylinder in neutral though?
So what about this.. I’ll be running wot or close to it and then all of a sudden it’ll surge and run around 3k it’ll run like that for a few mins and then all of a sudden it’ll pick up and run back up to wot or it’ll pick up and surge and then back to normal
Sounds like fuel starvation or even bad fuel. Fuel pumps, a bad fuel hose, (check fo gasr leaks) fuel filters, prime bulb, tank check valve. ( so many things) This would be the first place I will check. But, to me without been there sounds like fuel issue. Start by inspecting the entire fuel system. ( not as bad as it sounds) checking and testing and by process of elimination you should find the culprit. It could be a misfire condition. The spark plugs, coils and other electrical components problems in my experience are usually constant so based on the simptoms you mentioned iy sounds like fuel. Keep us posted please
Really Appreciate these posts- live in an area of the planet without any support so these are life saving👍🏽
Great explanation of how the system works with the switch!
Thank you for the comment.
Stay tuned and stay well.
@@florida4funshinechannel998 can we short circuit the switch? and the motor always work with 6 cylinders?
Hello, thank you for the video. My yamaha f150 outboard is throwing error code 28, could the little medal tab on the nuetral switch be the problem?
Not familiar with that code. What are the symptoms?
Replaced the neutral switch and it is still not engaging all cylinders and running in lymp mode any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Remove the 2 screws and that will remove the switch and replace it with the same 2 screws.
Can this be bypassed to run all 6 all the time?
Not recommended. It is designed to save the lower unit with shifting.
