- I'm a helicopter pilot but sometimes it's fun to see how the world of airplanes works. In this video, I join my friend Dean Siracusa to fly in his rare Meyers 200D. The Meyers 200 is a fast, capable, and gorgeous airplane. I was excited to fly it...then nearly everything that could've gone wrong making the video did go wrong. What went wrong and how did we deal with it? Watch and see. #MicahFlies

Regarding the oil pressure issue we experienced in the Meyers 200, I have an answer that wasn't included in the video. Apparently, Dean's mechanic switched to a lighter-weight oil resulting in lower than normal pressure. Even though it wound up not being a mechanical concern, Dean made the right choice in performing a precautionary landing. Thanks for flying safely, Dean!
Safety First Always!
You always would rather be on the ground, wishing you were up in the air flying-rather than the opposite. Dean made the right call.
The meyers 200D is one of the best looking aircraft I've ever seen and it has attractive performance to boot you wonder why they didn't build more even under different licence. You would think that a mechanic would intimate important information like changing the viscocity of the oil especially given that it would lower the oil pressure reading.
What about the gear issue?
@@publicname515 There was a gear issue?
Yes more airplane stuff, thx
Well well well. Funny seeing you here.
I like your channel 👍🏼
He’s right, you know!
Yes. Fixed wing was fun too... said the guy who never cared about helicopters until his car-reviewer started reviewing those! Thanks for taking us along.
Ha! Thanks for watching, Glen.
Right? I'll be at a picnic or something and look up and be all "oh, that's a Robinson R22, probably a student..." or "hey, look a that, Channel 4 News is flying a Bell Jet Ranger, I never liked how exposed those pitch control tubes are...". Wait, what?
It was an especially hot day that day we flew! Much cooler here in central Texas now! And, the issues are fixed too!
Did there turn out to actually be an issue with the oil pressure? My first thought was with the extreme heat likely temps were just higher and thus pressure a bit lower. Better safe than sorry I guess!
Well, not EVERYTHING went wrong. You’re clearly still here 🙂
Excellent point! :)
My thoughts, too. 🤣👍 (thank goodness!)
That's what I thought 😂
I'd LOVE to see some aviation reviews. Planes, Helicopters. Ultralights. Whatever. :)
Maybe even throw in skydiving at some point too.
Well Micah this video is the absolute definition of “if life gives you lemons” because you still managed to turn overwhelming heat, low oil pressure, and constantly failing GoPros into an enjoyable video. Great job! I’ll never accrue the wealth to own a flying machine of my own so while the automotive videos are more relatable I do still appreciate the wonder of flight and the beauty of aircraft design; that Meyers is a looker. More vintage fixed wings would be cool to see.
Thanks for sharing this unfortunately short flight, Micah!
We all like flying with Dean because he 1) takes safety so very seriously and 2) landings are (almost) always beautiful. 😎
Love the content as always Micah! Safe and smart decision to make
Thanks, Brian!
This was very interesting & intriguing. Definitely do more!
Cool video.. Very Safe!!! that gentleman is, so that tells me, you should do MORE videos !!!
Yes please on the fixed-wing stuff! Big fans of your channels and my wife and I are working on our private pilots licenses ourselves now so it would be amazing to see! Thanks Micah!!
Really enjoyed this video, regardless of the technical issues.
More fixed wing flying would be great 👍🏼
Flying is Flying ! It’s all good 👍 interesting perspective from a helicopter 🚁 pilot ! Thanks 😊
Micah! Yes. More airplane stuff every so often. Fun video! Cool plane!
Yes, would love to see more airplane and helicopter stuff.
Wow, 'never heard of the Meyers 200; beautiful airframe. Fun to learn about and see flying (excellent camera placement, and discussion). Yes to more fixed wing demos...j
Yes! Love your channel!
Fun, educational, entertaining stuff. I'd watch it. Let's go!
Stunning-looking older plane.
Mix it up a little. It’s always fun to see something different.
Yes, more Meyers. I would love to se more of them.
Fun and safe video. Also, I need to try out a pair of these shades underneath a mountain bike helmet. Curious about the polarization options.
Micah, this is absolutely something you should do more of! Mix in some light sport aircraft (LSA) and you’ll go even more viral. (Ok maybe not exactly viral, but I’ll really love it!!) plus I’m going to try those sunglasses 😎
YES! A mix of both fixed-wing and helo stuff would be rad.
The helicopter stuff is great to stick with! There are a lot of channels doing fixed wing
Yes Micah, more plane stuff would be great.
More plane stuff!!
Thanks for that. I'd love to see you check out and ride-along with some more fixed-wing (and helicopter) folks.
I'd love to see more fixed wing flights! Safety first, and I would have no issue flying with Micah or Dean! Now as for those GoPro's...😂
Thanks Micah and Dean 👍
That gear retraction looks like an amazingly complex process.
On a plane that size, it's very likely just an electric motor.
What style of Flying Eyes were you wearing? And, cool video! Thanks for your content! 🤙🏼
Man I need to go back and finish my pilots license. Did full patterns and just had to get my medical done so I could do solo (I’m red/green deficient so was trying to find alternate vision tests to not get the ‘no nighttime flying’ restriction) and then COVID hit and I’ve been putting it off for over a year. Glad I got the flying and landing a plane off the bucket list, and maybe that’s part of why I stopped too, but would be cool to just have the full license
YES thank you 🛩 and 🚁
A company in Oklahoma is preparing to produce the Meyers 200 again. I spoke with one of their guys at Sun-N-Fun 2022. They're looking for 50 deposits, and then they'll start production. They have all of the tooling and the rights to produce it.
The new version will have the IO-550 instead of the 520s that the originals had. It will feature an all-glass instrument panel. Everything else will be just as the originals were, except that the new ones will feature a carbon fiber cowl.
I flew one of these several times back in the mid-2000s in Alabama. One of the most impressive singles I've ever flown.
I'd watch more of these.
What a cool aircraft!!
YES.......more airplane stuff please. :o)
Yes!
Yes, please!
Good looking aircraft.
Yes do more
YES!
This bird looks like a sports Bonanza. Love it!
YES more fixed wing. Love the Meyers!
Yes
Great Video. My Mama always said GoPro cameras are like box of chocolate, You never know what You are going to get.
Yes get you fixed wing rating!
More aviation is always cool
OMG, I SO want to own a Meyers 200!
Would love to own one of these or a Swift.
"Yes, more planes!"
Also... Reviews on helos and airplanes would be cool too.
More aviation please.
Yes.
yes
WHEN YOU DISCUSSED THE PLANES PERFORMANCE YOU USED STOCK ENGINE NUMBERS. I AM INTERESTED IN WHAT THE UP GRADE TO 310 HP DOES TO THOSE DUMBERS. THANKS.
Yes. More airplane stuff.
Dear God. Please tell Micah to do more airplane stuff.
Also please tell my daughter to stop wasting water in the bathroom. Amen.
+3 for more aircraft AND helicopter content!!!
Am I the only one who gave up the dream of being a pilot simply because I can never understand the dialog with the controller?
More anything aviation, helicopters, airplanes, gliders, para-motors, etc. What ended up being the culprit for the oil pressure issue?
What is the takeoff over 50' and landing ground roll if someone can answer that. I have a 1900 ft grass strip.
More fixed wing would be fun too
Wow
Hey Dean!
Whoa. It's an honor to have a Juan Browne sighting in my comments. I'll tell Dean you said hi!
@@MicahMuzio Hey Micah! Meyers are cool as hell.
Yes. Anything that flies is good.
More fixed wing please
he said, gopros out? shows over. lol this was cool but taxi time is a waste. like how u get up and go on the heli.
What’s up with the GoPro cameras always failing?
They absolutely suck in the heat.
These remind me of a sportier version, of the old Navions! Awesome bird, there..but I would think that parts availability, would be a NIGHTMARE..given the age, and limited production numbers, no??
HondaJet!!
Sure, add in fixed wing when the opportunity arises. (Blimps and autogyros are OK too.) Just remember this is just pilot humor "there are 2 types of aircraft: fixed wing and broken wing (helicopters)", everything that flies is good!
All the aircrafts! Try to get into a blimp for that matter
no old bold pilots left, they are all dead, lol, more plane vids, ty, I have over 2,000 in a 152,172, and 182 RG.
Wanna be an "old-er" pilot - classic!
Yes, more fixed wing, but just a little more....
Do GoPros even work? Why are they always an issue??
Yes. More fixed wingers.
At least you lost some pounds so it was like a workout on that Texas heat
Nothing flys as nice as a Meyers 200d.
Would Micah flight it? 🤔
Yes of course more fixed wing
More fixed wing!
In my world green is green.
Go-Pros seem to suck
Entertaining is good Suspenseful not so much 😵💫
Micah really needs new video gear.
Next time, you - a to hitch a ride on a UFO. 🛸 Think you'll, ever, follow Shatner's lead and buy a ride on, either a Crew Dragon or Blue Origin? I would in, about, half a heartbeat.
Why does it seem like the Go Pros overheat if you look at them wrong or if a honeybee flies by a mile and a half away? Seems like poor engineering to me.
180 Knt, hard to believe. My DA65 barely faster.
What was the result of the oil pressure issue?
I started sweating just while watching this video! It looked HOT in there!
What a great aircraft if I was 30 years younger and $200,000 richer.
are you a helicopter pilot (proffessional) IF NOT a man with a helo licence ,bringing you down to earth sorry for your saftey.
I have my commercial license but nope, I don't fly for work. Nor have I ever claimed to do so.
Lesson: Never pick your nose on camera.
When I see a grown adult Male in the shape of a Giant Pear . I've seen all I need to see .
Yeah Go-Pro is one of the worst pieces of equipment I´ve ever owned in my life! If there is one company in this world that I´d happily see go down the drain - it´s Go Pro! Most unreliable piece of hardware I´ve owned - ever! Yikes. Sorry of the negative post! ;-)
You're 100% right. I've had to redo more videos than I care to recall thanks to GoPros that overheat or fail to record.
No, helicopters are much more fun. Planes are okay .
Yes, please!
Yes!
