Code 12 , my 1994, 22re, standard, 5 speed, with 313,000 miles failed me last Friday, the engine stopped on the Miami turnpike at 70 miles per hour, it is giving me the code 12, it is not the distributor, it can be the coil or the igniter too, it could be that some cable is broken or it went to ground because the ECU is not receiving the signal and it is not the ECU because it would not give me codes, long way ahead, if someone has had the same experience let me know so I don't go blind, without work, with little money I can't take her to the mechanic, I have to do it, please help. Thanks.
Did just as shown, flashed twice and twice.....code 22 "water temperature sensor". replaced sensor for $23 bucks and the Service Engine Light no longer is lit. Thanks so much the great info.
Helpful, just got a 94 4runner 4wd and it runs pretty rough but doesn't have any major problems like the notorious head gasket. Trying to fix this thing would be impossible without learning this.
Thanks Cody,I'm glad you showed me that my t100 engine light came on and I can't afford to bring it in to the shop. I will be all in first thing tomorrow morning..have a good night,Butch....northern Wi.
Nice quick video. Had the O/D off code 64. Pin out at ecm 0 ohms and applied 12 v with no adudable click from lock up solenoid. Ordered solenoid and filter kit. Works great now. Can you do a video on a 2nd Gen toyota 4runner cruise control code retrieval and diagnostics. My cruise light comes on but when I push SET, the cruise light will flash and then shut off. Thanks.
Great vid! I have a '94 4runner V6 4x4 with a 5-speed manual tranny with an inoperable speedometer. Any advise in how to fix it and help with the location of the speed sensor? Thank you!
What does it mean if the [O/D] light and [check engine] light flash continuously without any pauses? Does it mean there are no engine or transmission codes, or that the whole 4Runner is about to explode?
Not sure how accurate this is, but may be helpful. Mine did this once or twice, I suspect due to overheating caused by lack of coolant. Across forum posts, people have suggested that this could indicate an issue with shift solenoids inside the transmission itself, which are prone to burning out/dying.
@@richymon1 it means 1+1 and 1+2 which is a code 23. Look up code 23 for your specific vehicle and it’ll tell you what the code means. Could be a temp sensor. To reset it, disconnect your battery for half an hour.
I have a 1994 Toyota 4Runner 4x4, I just purchased a set of aluminum wheels for, I was told that they were 15x8, I took the guy for his word and bought them, it was'nt till I got them home and cleaned them up that I noticed only one of them was a 15x8 the other three were 15x8.5. I have looked for days at thousands of wheels on eBay and craigslist trying to find another 15x8.5 but have had no luck?Im putting 235/75/15 on them, if I go ahead and use the 15x8 with the three 15x8.5 will the 1/2 inch width difference cause me any serious issues with my truck(gears). Or should I keep looking for another 15x8.5 wheel. Would you know of any body who sells misc. used aluminum wheels. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Randy
It would be so much easier and helpful is someone developed something to read these older vehicles easier. I know the dealership has something when I took my 94 in but I don't what they used. Either way they even went the wrong way told me it was the head gaskets when it was the fuel injectors and fuel pump.
Have same issues on 1992 4Runner. Code 14 and O/D flashing. What did it end up being on the code 14? Also were you having low end torque problems and when the solenoid 3 was changed, did you regain power again? I am having low end torque problems. Also engine is not able to get above 2500 RPMs when TPS is plugged up. I Unplug it and it revs higher. Put new TPS Sensor in. Any help on this would be great. Thanks
Hi I did an obd scan on my car (1988 toyota celica 2.0L A/T) and the result was 51. 51 - Switch signal -A/C switch ON during diagnosis Wiring, A/C switch, A/C amplifier, ECM 51 - Switch signal -closed throttle position (CTP) switch OFF during diagnosis Wiring, CTP switch, ECM 51 - Switch signal -park/neutra! position (PNP) switch not in P or N during diagnosis Wiring, PNP switch, ECM My car has this acceleration issue for a month now, it cannot go uphill. I did these things trying to solve my acceleration issue, still not succeeded -changed fuel filter -cleaned maf sensor -air filter is in good condition -cleaned throttle body -clean air intake tube -cleaned throttle position sensor -changed my ATF (drain and refill method) -changed AT filter -cleaned AT oil pan and magnets -changed spark plugs -adjusted the accelerator cable according to the manual Interpretation on the result of 51 and any suggestions?

I absolutely love that this wasn’t a 12 minute long video where everything is explained to death. Very straight and to the point, great work!

I had the same igniter code..ended up running a new wire from igniter to ecu. Did my research figured out which wire it was. Took care of the problem.

thanks for this video, i have a 95 toyota 4runner and i cant find a scanner for the check engine light, this little trick worked great!
Thank you sir! I wish mine had only 264k on it. Lol. Pushing 330k now. 👍👍
I just used this video to check my 92 4Runner. I got the same 2 codes.

Great video. Will be trying it on my 95 4runner as they are the same gen as 94.
Does the 96 4runner have the same
96 has odb2
What does it mean when the check engine light just flashes non stop when trying to retrieve codes?
Curious about this also
What if the code come like 11 12 what's that mean? And how will I reset it?

I really like my 94 Runner 4x4 Auto
Thank you sir, great video
You can use a paper clip too. Just used it and got a trans code 62
I was ffreaking out trying to find a proper wire guage for this
What code or number would it be if it starts with 7 quick flashes and then 1 longer one.

great video. thanks for the tip!
What gauge wire did u use to jump it
Thanks
Would this be the same on a 93 pickup?
I connect E1 to Te1 and it didn't flash. Do you know why or what code?
Did you ever figure out what was the issue
Mines is the same, nothing, no flash at all.
95 4runner also?
Have same issues on 1992 4Runner.
Code 14 and O/D flashing.
What did it end up being on the code 14?

My 4Runner doesn’t have a diagnostic port. Can u advise me please
Will that same technique work on my 94 Toyota pick up? Also, will it clear the code and turn the check engine light?
thanks for the video i didnt know you could do that .thats awsome thanks alot :D
my check engine light does not come on when turning key on if I get a new ecu box will it then come on ?
My just flashes the check engine light . Does that mean there’s a problem ??
Same here. I have a rough idle issue.
@@waynezhang3969makes 2 of us, but since I can't get it to spit out any codes cause it's just flashing, idk what I'm dealing with
Thank you sir for this video, it's gonna help us a lot, thanks.
I have a 94 pickup and the engine light just flashes. Any ideas ?
Can I do this on my 1990 v6 pickup
Hi I did an obd scan on my car (1988 toyota celica 2.0L A/T) and the result was 51.
51 - Switch signal -A/C switch ON during diagnosis Wiring, A/C switch, A/C amplifier, ECM
51 - Switch signal -closed throttle position (CTP) switch OFF during diagnosis Wiring, CTP switch, ECM
51 - Switch signal -park/neutra! position (PNP) switch not in P or N during diagnosis Wiring, PNP switch, ECM
My car has this acceleration issue for a month now, it cannot go uphill.
I did these things trying to solve my acceleration issue, still not succeeded
-changed fuel filter
-cleaned maf sensor
-air filter is in good condition
-cleaned throttle body
-clean air intake tube
-cleaned throttle position sensor
-changed my ATF (drain and refill method)
-changed AT filter
-cleaned AT oil pan and magnets
-changed spark plugs
-adjusted the accelerator cable according to the manual
Interpretation on the result of 51 and any suggestions?
no, for example mine was code 51. it flashed 5 times then a pause, then it flashed once
Did you figure it out?
Can you have stored codes without having the 'check engine' light on ?
My 4 runner won’t pop up and codes when I do it but there is a check engine light on
what happens if doing this, the CEL never lights up, and the O/D off light has a constant flash with no pause?
Did your ever figure out what caused this?
Is this all the same for a '94 base model pick up with the 22RE engine?
Yes
Cody the Car Guy where is the ingnition moguel
I’m trying to find the list of these codes, after doing this, my OD is flashing.
Checking. Engine. Light code reads 5 flashes. And 7 what does this mean
Google. It means Google.
Where díd I conect the scanner
Mine is just continuing to flash. No breaks . What would this mean ?
What was the problem
What is a 71 code
will it work for a 1988 toyota pickup 3.0 4x4
yes
Yes. The engines have the sames codes.
Later model 22RE engines ('88-'95)
On the early 22RE engines ('85-'87)
I have 93 4runner with 2.4 2lte engine suddenly my car engine got off and engine warning came up
Now it's not starting can any one help me out with this ?
Looks like a skinny Sam losco sorta
