I built a very similar camp kitchen for my 1965 VW bus a little over 50 years ago. Primarily 1/4 & 1/2 inch plywood & mahogany strips. We used it for many years & gave it away when we moved & got a motor home. They used it for at least another 20 years before it needed too much repair. It always created a lot of curiosity & conversation everywhere we went. I want to make one again for day or weekend trips with the grandchildren. I am getting a lot of ideas from the variety of YT videos.
Sounds like you built a solid unit Ronald! I get quite a bit of attention with this kitchen, we traveled down through Spain a couple of years ago and every time I unloaded the kitchen a crowd would soon appear to have a look. Good luck with your new build and happy travels 👍
Deceptively simple. A lot of thought has gone into this design and it flows effortlessly. What a great chuck box! I like the wine glass holder, heh heh, very clever! The Europeans do the same thing in every RV with a wine bar and rack for glasses, same concept, but in plexiglass with blue LED lighting and it looks so elegant. I love the fold out doors becoming supports for top ledge, the holes for hooks for the trash bag, the towel rod becoming a rolling pin (genius!), the bungee cords holding the plates down to prevent rattling. Also love the fold down shelves from the swing out doors - so clever. They do double duty holding stuff back then open to give more surface area. Ras El Hanout spice from Morocco? You do get around. Looks like you are a good chef. Nice range of spices for Moroccan, Indian, Western foods. I looked at your video a second time. Your build is exceptional. The aircraft case hardware and corner supports, the metal sheet coating on table tops, the beautiful support system for the leaf extensions, every attention to detail including cutting holes in the shelf walls to reduce weight. The elastic cord anchor system on plates and pots is genius. I will borrow this idea from you, along with several others. I love this build. You have a keen eye for detail and a low key presentation that belies the greatness of this build. To make a functional, robust, and beautiful Chuck Box/Camp Kitchen that is also a compact size, molded to your needs, and lightweight, is a woodworking challenge. I feel a fire burning in me to make my own version. A good camp kitchen is a feat of engineering and the ultimate challenge in creative skills. Love the pots and pans with no handles. That saves space for sure. Put a piece of soft foam between them or you will scratch the Teflon interior. Very nice build, enjoyed the tour and excellent visuals. Thanks!
Thanks! I hope you get around to building something similar, not only is it functional but it's always a talking point at every campsite. Thanks for watching 👍
I LOVE the extra space at the back. That was always my main complaint about this style of chuckbox: by the time you add the cooktop you really don't have that much workspace. This is a great design with so many nice touches. I'm going to make a near-perfect copy for my own setup, thank you so much for sharing!
I viewed this a couple of years ago and built my own using some of your ideas here. I have since purchased a small teardrop camper with a dry galley kitchen. The previous owners built shelving which worked for them and their equipment, however, not for mine. I remembered this video and the bungee cords locking down your equipment. Great idea and I will be using the video again! Great build and great Channel! Thanks!
This is brilliant! I love the bungee cords that fit neatly in the cut outs to keep things from bounding around. I love your pots and pans with the detachable handles and the deep set doors with storage
Even if you had a travel camper, and a floor to counter space recess to tuck this into, you could in deed relocate it both indoors and outdoors with fairly relative ease. Thus, it could be used inside the camper trailer or outside when it is great weather and not be troubled about it getting buggered up by foul weather. Even if were deemed as a bit heavy to carry, you could also adapt some wheels just like on a table saw frame to roll it towards the doorway, but then off load it.
Finishing my box this week, just in time for camping trip next weekend, thank you for the inspiration!!! It has been a fun (90% of the time), learning experience (100%).
Today I saw a camp kitchen box that reminded me of our Boy Scout kitchen box from 60 yrs ago But we did it better & most important, simpler But this box is a work of art
I love your chuck box! So many great ideas from your bungee cords with the little slots that hold them in place to all the fold out bits that allow for more table top area. I am amazed that you use real crocks rather than the lighter weight (and much more inferior) aluminum products! I suppose if you use this chuck box regularly you would also want to use real pots. Now as I plan my own chuck box I will plan for real supplies over simple/cheap aluminum crap.
Really well done- I haven't seen another one like it and I have seen many in my pursuit to find plans. Love your demeanor, too, style-wise great video. Thank you for sharing the dimensions and links.
Hello fella, you've just made my year. I've been looking for an idea to kit out the back of my forester for weekends away and mate that kitchen is right up my street. I live at the lower end of the country and am doing my best to entice my wife to explore this country of ours together. Thank-you for your amazing video. Total admiration from the South of England.
I subscribed and had a watch at your video last week , great job with your video delivery , I’m learning and are on the RUclips Journey here in Australia 🇦🇺 I love my outdoor camping and Sharing in the warm weather. So your video was inspiring for me to aspire to your level, so thank you 🙏
Space, size, weight, cost, &???.. I have been wanting to build a camp kitchen chuck box for years but empty they all look way too heavy & bulky. So I have decided to buy 3 things that together will equal a chuck box without being too heavy for one broken old guy. With all the tool box configurations out there I found one that is very useable and affordable. Hart, sold by Walmart has a 2 drawer plastic tool box that will work well for all my cooking tools that along with a Hart rolling tool box and a folding table should carry all the stuff for a solo motorcycle camper. The great thing is if I make a mess being plastic I can just rinse it out. The only downside is is it durable enough?
Mate, fantastic video. I have been one of the guys waiting for a review for months hahaha, (also a plan asker) Luckily I went and found a South African company that builds something similar, Hectic Leisure kitchens are the boys. Not as big, and I do still have to use the extra box for pans etc. I think I'll build one like urs eventually. Great vid as always mate.
Nice set up. Well done. You have given me some great ideas. Have a look online for the Trasheroo which is a great solution for rubbish on long trips. Cheers.
Hi, I just watched the video, it's pretty much the same design! 😳 I modelled mine on a kitchen that is in production called the 'Camp Champ', I think they started making them in 2015 - they must've took inspiration from Lance without doubt! 👍
Overland and Outdoors I just now looked at the Camp Champ. Yours is at least as good as that one if not better and they sell theirs for almost $7000..!!! The detail in yours is extraordinary. I’m happy if I can cut a 2x4 straight with a mitre saw!!
Overland and Outdoors 😢 that’s a shame, I think people would be willing to pay for your plans, never mind, fantastic creation and I appreciate the video upload 👌🏻take care 😁
I'm coming by 4 years later. Very inspiring! Thank you for sharing your build!

Beautiful build! Probably the best I’ve seen and one I’d like to try building for myself. Thanks for the close up shots of the fine details
Nice work. No unuseable waste, a lot of practical details. It's all what you need for outdoor caming.👍
Thanks 👍
Excellent setup and yes, better than plastic boxes.
Cheers Richard 👍
Nice setup! The flight box hardware and the stainless sheet top are both very nice touches. Very well thought out and well executed!
Cheers! 👍
Beautiful. This could hold its own in an art gallery.
This is brilliant! I love the bungee cords that fit neatly in the cut outs to keep things from bounding around. I love your pots and pans with the detachable handles and the deep set doors with storage
Cheers! 👍
Agree with the bungees. I'll be adding that to my design as well!
This so reminds me of my grandfather traveling kitchen for camping. It was so awesome.
Excellent craftsmanship! Built a chuck box 30 years ago but your kitchen is a whole other level. Brilliant work.
Ken Baker Cheers Ken! 👍

Fantastic job! Such a functional design, which will make life very easy on the road. Love it.
Today I saw a camp kitchen box that reminded me of our Boy Scout kitchen box from 60 yrs ago
But we did it better & most important, simpler
But this box is a work of art
Remarkable organized & will be good for all camp trips, kept right along other gear! WOW!!
Great work and interesting information! Thanks!!!
Prob the most organized chuck box. Everything has it's place and not crammed in.
Awesome kitchen setup! Love seeing everyone's rendition of there own kitchens. Just posted a video of our setup. Love this. Super cool.
Cheers! I've just checked out your kitchen set up, looks good, I like the table idea 👍
This is really nice. Would even be nice for day trips. You can make some elevated meals on that thing! Nice work!
Cheers Wayne! 👍

Cheers! It does add a little more weight using decent quality kitchen gear but it's worth it. Good luck with your chuck box build 👍
You just can't beat cast iron!

Brilliant bit of kit. Great craftsmanship.👍

@@LadiesCampingAustralia Aww thanks Kristie, much appreciated! You certainly live in the right place for the outdoors 👍
Haha, the thumbnail made it look like it was still attached to the vehicle while it was unfolded. Going to try to build something like that for mine.

great job. Excelent kitchen. Great video.
Cheers Raymond 👍
That’s a hella of kitchen I want one ☝️
Space, size, weight, cost, &???..

Beautiful job, sir. I want the coffee pot. We made our own patrol boxes in Boy Scouts. Not as nice, obviously.
Please tell us manufacturer of coffee pot or link to where to purchase.
Many thanks for sharing . well done.

Cheers mate, the Hectic kitchens look good, probably a load easier to move around compared to my wooden beast 👍
This is Brilliant! Would love to make it one for me, similar to this one. Love it!
Very nice work!
I bild one out of a aluminum box and now live is so much easyer.
Cheers! I bet the aluminium box is much lighter than my wood box.
Overland and Outdoors
Yes but yours look much better🤣
Absolutely gorgeous.
Very nice work and concept!
Cheers! 👍
Very nice work! Store bought camp boxes across the pond are ridiculously pricey as well
Not even 2 minutes into the video, and I’m fucking blown away at how bad ass this is.
Cheers! 😂👍
Nice set up. Well done. You have given me some great ideas. Have a look online for the Trasheroo which is a great solution for rubbish on long trips. Cheers.

Dope! I'm doing long drawers out the back of my SUV but I'm gonna steal a couple of ideas from ya. Cheers!
Open Range Studios Cheers! 👍
Beau travail 🍻! Félicitations de France 🇫🇷
That is remarkably similar to the one built by Lance from Lance’s Workshop RUclips channel published in 2013. It is indeed a very nice setup .

You need a can opener in one of those draws.
Nice video, keep them coming 👍
Cheers 👍
SWEEEEEET setup sir.
Amazing job, don’t suppose you have the plans for your creation available do you 😬🤞🏻👌🏻
Hi Larry, thanks 👍. I don't have any plans unfortunately, I'm not that organised!
Overland and Outdoors 😢 that’s a shame, I think people would be willing to pay for your plans, never mind, fantastic creation and I appreciate the video upload 👌🏻take care 😁
