- Introducing Channel Islands Surfboards’ Eco Carbon Tech (ECT): a new carbon hand-lamination that will level-up your performance. ECT built boards are livelier, stronger, familiar feeling underfoot, and environmentally responsible.
ECT boards are hand-built by the same crew of surfers that have been crafting your boards for years. Available in PU/PE and EPS/Epoxy constructions, ECT can be custom ordered on any board-allowing your board to be built just for you and never leaving you stuck between sizes.
For those wanting to take their surfing performance to the next level, look no further than Channel Islands’ ECT built boards.
LIVELIER
Eco Carbon Tech’s (ECT) construction creates a Livelier PU/PE or EPS/Epoxy board
ECT construction uses a carbon resin that allows for a more traditional feeling flex pattern, albeit a more dynamic one that enhances any board’s performance
STRONGER
-15% stronger than standard lamination
-Performance of a single layer of fiberglass-durability of two
FAMILIAR
ECT is more familiar feeling than other type of carbon build
Most carbon-built boards are quite stiff, and don’t dent on the deck, which creates a rigid shell around the board-making its flex foreign feeling.
-ECT enhances the level of performance you’ve been accustomed to from your standard shortboard construction
ECT GLASSING
-Stock: Single 6oz deck/4oz bottom (Pro Light)
= Strength of 4+4 deck/4 bottom
-Team: Single 4oz deck/4oz bottom (Team Light)
= Strength of 6 deck/4 bottom
SMALLER FOOTPRINT
Uses 90% less energy than virgin carbon fiber
Recycled carbon saves waste from going into landfills

Smart application of milled carbon for a bunch of reasons highlighted in this video. Nice work Team CI R&D. Got me thinking about adding standard milled fibreglass to deck laminations. Cheers
Very interesting!
QUESTION: does this mean that instead of say a 4/4+4 layering, you get to use less glass if you wanted to, or get more strength (i.e. less pressure dents) using the same number of layers?
How does it compare to epoxy?
Would be super interesting to do a blind test with three boards, each all black, each different tech. Have a similar group testing them like in the STAB all stars. (Surfer scientist speaking here 😂)
Nice stuff
Agree ,.,, yes less glass
I wish someone would show a new board review by an average dad trying to squeeze in an hour sesh early Saturday before the kids and wife are up.
That would be cool to see the transformation.
There’s no way we can tell what that tech or board can do for us watching these master chefs slicing and dicing veggies.
If you can’t tell you not ready for one
Will this be available for the Bobby quad?
So how do we fix these? I had a customer who broke the tip of his nose off and emailed you guys but didn't get a response. Is there a way for us repair guys to match this?
That is a very good question!
Just fix it like a normal surfboard and add carbon fiber powder dust to the resin make sure you use the the right resin for the foam pu foam polyester resin or epoxy. Eps foam only epoxy😊
@@ash.lawrence You can definitely use Epoxy resin on PU foam, a construction also known as PE. That is what the ECT PU construction is - Poly foam with carbon fiber mixed into epoxy resin. Or EPS foam with carbon fibre mixed into epoxy resin
Thats funny. It took me a minute to realize that's Peter Mel. I thought Britt Merrick was doing an interview with Steve O.
Lemme get a Black Beauty in that eco carbon!!! LET'S GO!!! I hope Berry T. aka Bear 🐻 Dawg, watches this!!! 🤙
worst glassed boards in the business. Buy em if you want to break your board and waste money
Why ?
@@keanum5700 why would you want to buy it? Carbonfibre is known for its strength compared to fibre glass, the basically took away what carbon fiber does and just made a new fancy paint job with no usefulness to it and charge more
I’ll be shopping for an ect after this
I hate black boards the wax is constantly trying to get off the board
Just put on gorilla grip
That board is SO 🔥🔥🔥
Not convinced
Boring.
@@DanielHollingsworth Very safe.
