Richard Smallwood is like the Michael Jordan of black gospel music... Ive known his music since my mom's used to play Center of my Joy... So many hits and such great musicianship over so long has to be commended
I believe this is the first reaction video I’ve ever seen of Richard Smallwood & Vision. His music and Vision need to be celebrated more. Please do more!
This is one of my favorite Richard Smallwood songs! I love the jazzy sass that the sopranos and altos put on the “forever” part as well. Loved seeing your moment of worship, too. Some songs will just take you there!
They are ABSOLUTELY one of my faves... the best in the ministry...and this song though.... ugh! 🙇🏾♀️🙇🏾♀️🙇🏾♀️ just so divine 😇😇 the vocals and instrumentation/orchestra...just impeccable... timeless music. classic! He’s a living lengend. God bless us all! 🕊🌻🙏🏾 Would you be so kind and do “Holy thou art God “ with their lead singer Vanessa Williams... another amazing number James Hall, Ricky D and New G, Kurt Carr and his singers just to name a few of my all time gospel groups faves 🙌🏾🙏🏾🕊🎹🎶🎼🎤
Richard smallwood's choir is POWERFUL! If you never seen who they were, you would think there's 50-100 people singing. What amazes me is their range. And I believe there's tenor and bass in the "tenor" section.
This is my favourite Richard Smallwood song!!! 0:53 you’re right, league of their own for real, best group ever known to gospel music I don’t care what anyone says!!
Excellent analysis of this song and it's delivery. From the 1984 original album release project of Psalms by The Richard Smallwood Singers on Onxy Records (produced by Gentry McCreary) featuring Jackie Ruffin as soloist, this song made an impact for Gospel music as well as the Black Church. It was during a pivotal point where the worship experience was a transformation from primarily a praise and testimony modality and becoming a more profound worship as we were singing more songs directly from the lips of God's people to the ears of God for our appreciation of Him as God. This significant shifting of the atmosphere in the Black Church experience was and still remains transformative! In that it must continue to be our focal point of the body of Christ for such a time as this. There is too many distractions taking place "on stages" in church. There used to be a holiness and reference for the platform call then the pulpit and the choir stand or loft. While I am fine with growth and expansion and I am NOT fine with the congregation becoming an audience and the platform becoming as stage for a show. Because the later is NOT of God. I will leave it right there. God bless you.
This song is on your Christmas playlist and I had forgot about it until I listened to it recently. Richard Smallwood is a master at his craft. And this choir is vocally everything 🙌🏾
Richard Smallwood is the GOAT! He’s my favorite regardless of genre. P.S. I was JUST listening to “I Will Sing Praises”! Such a great song! I must see them live one day.
Keep them coming! Richard Smallwood is my favorite for all the same reasons you listed. There’s a complex simplicity to his approach song writing and arranging that echoes perfectly the duality that our God operates in: Holy and Sacred- that ceremonies and protocol are the appropriate response to His majesty, and Simple enough to dwell within us, and deal with us gently, compassionately, and specific to our individual needs! Awesome
Have you heard Crystal Rucker do Changed? It's awesome!!! I love the way you break down a song and explain everything from the technical aspect all the way to nuance! Very informative! And when you sing!!!!! Lord take me!
I preface my comment with this fact. I am 64 years old. Having said that, I can fully appreciate the excellence in the work of Richard Smallwood and Vision as well as the Richards Smallwood Singers. I stopped your video @2:41 to share this observation after reading a few comments as well, to say I am concerned that the emphases on the sound while accurate and spot on. However, please don't loose the importance of the message. I don't mean to be the old folks I crew up under in church that would not allow the young folks to be young and express as Mommy used to say, "Doing your thang for Christ..." I just am pointing out the importance of the message tends to get lost when the technical becomes the focal point. I am only pointing this out because I a couple of generations that have taken the excellence of the execution of the work and are just technically reproducing that part skillfully but missing the context of the message. I am concerned that that is contributing to the showmanship of praise and worship and the absence of the choir and the platform being a stage presentation and NOT a worship experience. Please understand that as I share my heart on this I am NOT singling your platform out on this but rather bringing out the urgency of the need for scripture the remain the vehicle through which a sacrifice of praise brings forth what King David wrote in the moment as Richard Smallwood interpreted in our lifetime right back to OUR GOD! Please help to facilitate this discussion. Thank you Sir.
STILL waiting on Patti LaBelle, either "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" (red dress), "Never Walk Alone" (purple dress with her two famous backup singers) and Isn't It a Shame (Holy Ghost fit). ANY will suffice. 😂😂
@@jmlegrairstudio yes I have been following both since I was a teen. I think Tri city singers are better because they sounded like they do from the first album.
